    Margarita!
    Andrea B.

Seriously awesome. When you open the door you walk through a red velvet curtain and are met with a cozy, small, dark little lounge. It feels like a secret, and on a Monday night it was pretty quiet when we met for cocktails and sharing plates. As others mentioned, it's dark and almost mysterious here. We sat by the window which was lovely. Candles on every table make it warm and cozy and the blackboard menu features the day's specials. Their cocktail menu is superbe and I can't wait to go back and try more. I opted (as did several of us based on the server's recommendation) for the margarita and I'm so glad I did. It was divine and I love any place that serves my cocktails in a mason jar. Feels like I'm at home (but with nicer garnishes!). Fauve G and I shared the Adventure plate which is just as it sounds - an adventure! It's basically a sharing plate, but is the chef's choice - surprise! Let me tell you, the chef kicks ass. Our plate came with a strong cheese whose name escapes me (it had a similar texture to brie but had a really strong fragrance and taste), peach and cranberry chutney, delicious candies peanuts, cured salami, grilled cheese toasts with homemade ketchup, dijon mustard, pickles, and olives marinated in house. My tastebuds were seriously happy with the chef. This place was great for a girl's night out, but it would be supremely romantic for a date. I noticed some DJ equipment in the corner, so I'm guessing they play some jams on busier nights. The music playing while we were there was basically what I'd listen to on my iPod so I super happy with it. Think Florence and the Machine, Monsters and Men, Fiona Apple. One more thing that deserves the utmost in high fives? Our server, Jen. She was phenomenal - witty, sweet, friendly and attentive. She knew her stuff about each and every thing on both sharing plates, made recommendations and chatted with us a bit. Super cute? They bring your bills in sweet little stationary cards that say "Thanks for visiting Trio." If I could live here, I might. Especially once the sun goes down.

Cute neighbourhood nook! I went for drinks and apps this past Monday evening with some girlfriends! We sat at the adorable window table and chatted over the adventure plates and margaritas I couldn't choose between three of the tempting cocktails on the menu - our server recommended the margarita, and I'm so glad she did, it was AMAAAAAZING! I'll have to try the other two another time! The adventure plates are sooo appealing! We wound up with such a great combination! Each plate is whatever the chef decides to throw on a slab for people to devour. It was just the best choice because I'm so indecisive! The didn't have a written down version of the chef's evenings creations, but my pictures are a great way to remember...for the most part! Nuts - with some sort of tasty coating Jam made of something! Warmed Brie Shaved meat Pickles with a side of homemade dijon mustard Grilled cheese on a baquette with homemade ketchup A great little bowl of olives and a bowl of mushrooms that I didn't touch! On our friend's plate... Sandwich of sorts... Hummus made with some secret ingredient (it's not really secret...I just can't remember it) Pickles and dijon Shaved meat Almonds and Dates Sliced apples with a little sauce All with a side of bread! I loved it!

    Next time, in my yard.

Manhattan pricing without the drive has arrived. Rents along Richmond have driven the price of two cocktails to $24.58 before service. Madness.

    Good vibes....

That's right - hidden in Hintonburg, there exists a fairy-lit shack with amazing gelato, Italian coffee and fresh smoothies and juices. The atmosphere is almost as amazing as the gelato - this is perfect date night material. You can customize your cone and sample whatever flavours you want. I ended up going with the raspberry for my first scoop, and the hazelnut chocolate (can't remember the names - they have excellent wordplay on their menu though!). The hazelnut was outstanding. There were pieces of what tasted like Fererro Rocher - yummiest. The raspberry was tangy and refreshing and super good, but the hazelnut was supreme. I can't wait to come back and try all the menu items! They change their flavours often, so there's always a reason to return!

NOTHING! Not a goddamn thing! This little shack serving up gelato and barrista quality caffeinated beverages is like a alternative patio oasis for any weary traveler. My lovely colleague (super Ottawa CM Andrea B) and I had just about walked our last disappointed step as we trudged along the rapidly quietening streets of Ottawa in desperate search of some after dinner dessert - when we came upon the brightly lit trees and patio of Trii Lounge! With little hesitation and with absolutely no resistance from the staff, I tried about 4 flavours of fresh made gelato before finally settling on two amazing flavours that went terribly as a pair: Mint Chocolate gelato and Passion Fruit - amazing still all around! I really hope this place becomes super popular, their gelato is ON POINT!! You'd be remiss to not at least sample their wares - go on.. it's summer after all! Eatcrest Out!

The Short Rib Bao was the best item on the menu, I loved the meat and how soft it was. The ambiance was a little weird, but that's an Ottawa thing, it was very dead. The service was awful! We waited 10 minutes to be seated in a place that had 3 other customers. We were given menus right away but then the server disappeared for about 20 minutes. We ordered our drinks which took 35 minutes, and I couldn't even find the server to flag her down. The food came out fairly quickly and I asked for the bill right away. Service needs work but could be attributed to Covid-19 aftermath. Keep Eating, Angela

We made a reservation and our table was ready for us upon arrival. The ambiance was certainly grown and sexy! I ordered a glass a white wine and the King salmon dinner. My food was delicious however, the portion size was extremely small considering the price. I was definitely hungry after which always sucks when you put time and energy into going out for a nice meal. I kid you not, I probably had four potatoes and four brussels sprouts. If I can count the sides, that means there wasn't enough. If the owners see this review, I hope they take note and make adjustments to the portion sizes because this spot has a lot of potential. Cheers!

I went pretty early both times and I was the first or second table there. I ordered the Trio Sante (a combination of yogurt, fresh fruit, and house-made granola) on my first visit and the ARC French Toast on my second. Both were excellent - I even dreamt about the french toast for awhile after =P There was just something about the contrast between the soft, rich, custard-like interior and the crunchy, oat-encrusted exterior in combination with a delicate spice, warm maple syrup, and tangy citrus butter... yum. To drink, I tried the drip coffee and a latte - both were average. The decor is modern and clean lines, with some elements from nature. It's bright and sunlight streams in from the windows. Basically, a great setting for a relaxing breakfast. Keeping in mind that both times I was one of only a few people there, service was appropriately attentive - i.e., there when it was necessary and not over bearing. Prices were on the high side, but probably on par with what would be expected in a hotel restaurant. I would come here again if I were staying at the hotel but, truth be told, there are other breakfast/brunch places in Ottawa that are higher on my list of places to go.
