I want to make it clear that I did not expect service until opening. I had a tall table at the bar. The decor is a combination of woodsy and steampunk. Metal on the walls and a chandelier that looks like a log with branches. Two rabbit portraits just inside and tiny lights that look like fireflies covering the ceiling. The table was beautiful with a really nice little light that flickered like a candle. I don't know my server's name, it is not on the bill, and if I were him, I would be embarrassed to have it on there. Male with close cut silver hair and I believe a moustache...he wasn't around enough for me to notice much. The bartender did speak to me when i was navigating that stool. My server asked if I wanted to start with anything. I ordered a drink and he ran away. He was always in a hurry to get away. No small talk, no attempt to get to know his customer. As someone who worked as a waitress in my youth and all through college, his lack of attention was a bit stunning. When he brought my drink back, the Flower Child, which was incredible--looked and tasted like rainbow sherbet, took me back to my childhood and is now in my top three cocktails ever, he tried to run away immediately. I caught him by asking if the Wagyu burger could be made with a gluten-free bun. He said no but they could do a lettuce wrap. I told him that would be perfect and was surprised he didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked or check with me on anything else, didn't tell me what it came with. I wasn't sure he even took my order for a few minutes. The burger came out soon though to my relief. He set it down and ran away, I mean *POOF* gone. I wanted another drink. Now, I was annoyed. The restaurant was not busy. Luckily, there was a server, dark hair who was watching and she stepped toward me and let me order another drink. Original server dropped it off without speaking a word to me. Didn't ask how anything was...nothing. I wondered if this was yet another case of solo diner syndrome. You know that saying you can tell who someone is by how they treat service persons, well, you can tell a LOT about a restaurant by how they treat their solo diners. Luckily, there was nothing amiss with the meal. Wonderful salad with cute little half moon cut veggies. Fries and the dip they came with were phenomenal. Burger was tender and delicious. Guy never showed up, but I could hear him talking to the bartender behind me nearly the entire meal. Felt like I'd stepped into an episode of Vanderpump Rules. I had to get the other brunette server to get him to bring my bill. He had stopped to pick up my plate and then asked how everything was. I told him, "Finished." Then, I waited while he milled about with no bill forthcoming for a good while before I asked the other server. The lowest tip percentage was 18%. I did that but regret it and wish so much I'd hit custom and given him $5. The bill for only me was right at $100, which I never mind paying if the food and service are good... and my server was so amazing the night before, I tipped her 30%. He didn't deserve what he got. I found the other server and pulled out $10 for her help. She was so sweet and asked me if I wanted her to give that to my server. I said firmly, "No, that is for YOU." The food here is awesome and the atmosphere very cool, but the service was so bad that it wouldn't be worth it. Too bad. read more

We came to the Rabbit Hole on a Friday night for after-dinner drinks. It was quite busy so we opted for a seat at the bar. Here, we got to see the bartender crafting cocktails which was pretty cool. We ordered two cocktails, both which were delicious and, very pretty. Inside of the restaurant was warm and cozy; I especially like the mosaic flooring. read more

Special night out with my sis. Enjoyed dinner in Chinatown and came here for a nightcap. Amazing! No wait. I'd been wanting to come here for awhile. Slinked down the steps to a dark, moody speakeasy type place. Seated in a nice booth. Service was great. Attentive...friendly. Loved the lamps overhead. The bar was very cool. Very much a date spot. Can't comment on the food but the drinks are well crafted and interesting. I would recommend and would come back here in a second. I wish parking was more available but hey.. it's downtown. Parking is expensive and so were those drinks but very worth it! Music was great too. Loud and got louder as the night progressed... but this place calls for it. read more

Pretty cool spot with a name to match. Nice and quiet since it is on the pedestrian st, but there was some construction going during the day next door. Fun vibes, one of the neatest bathrooms I've been in. Good spot to stop in the evening, though the sun can get intense. We ordered a pizza and a couple of drinks. The White 4 Pizza (Prosciutto, artichoke, pear, honey drizzle) was delicious and perfect for the warm day. Waiter was responsive and friendly. The condition of the furniture left something to be desired as our almost 4 year old daughter sat in the chair and it almost fell out from under her because it was broken. A great little hidden gem with beautifully crafted cocktails. It has been some time since I went out for cocktails, and doubly long since I was out on the town in YOW. A friend suggested meeting up for "dranks" and recommended The Rabbit Hole. Tucked away in the downtown core, The Rabbit Hole is truly a hidden gem. The cocktail menu made it difficult to choose just one. So we had a few! I HIGHLY recommend the Brown Butter Beauty. The food menu is on the smaller side, and food takes a while. While the Pizza was worth the wait, the Spiced Navy Bean & Rosemary Dip was not my favourite. Service good, attentive but not annoying. But then you're taken one floor down to where they have much more additional seating, another full bar, hidden booths and the decor is top notch. Apparently there is also a speakeasy and a roof top patio which I did not see. My party of 4 was sat in a cozy booth area. There was a light pendant over our table and the light bulb consistently flickered, which was rather disturbing to the eyes. We mentioned this to our server and he was very quick to resolve the issue! We were very thankful! I ordered the First Love cocktail and the Red 3 pizza minus the peppers. Everything was delicious and fresh. Service was attentive - our server was always checking in on us. I would highly recommend this spot for a date night or a fun night out with friends. Someone suggested this place from the facility my team are currently training. It's within a strip of other little bars and swanky restaurants. There's no 'real' parking, so we walked from Marriott downtown to this spot (which was about a 4 minute walk). The food portion of the menu was very limited, however they had plenty of drink options! Our waitress was super nice (I think her name was Lori? Maybe?). I ordered a Red 6 with chicken (pizza) & one of my coworkers ordered the rabbit leg (he said it tasted like chicken). This bar was fine. Basically a copy + paste of a lot of other hipster bars in the city... and this is coming from someone who loves all things craft. The drinks were fair priced and service was okay, however servers weren't well versed in their drinks at all. Beautiful environment and super delicious food. We asked the waitress for pizza recommendations and went for a honey garnished one, it turned out surprisingly good, I was in love with their chewy yet a-bit-burnt pizza crust from the first bite. We also ordered steak and fries, and the oysters. The steak was tasty while the fries were average, oysters were quite small but quite satisfying considering the price. We were super excited to try this place but we're sadly disappointed. Credit is definitely due with the space and ambiance, but the food and cocktails were super meh. We ordered the charcuterie board and when we asked about it when he brought it out said "I dunno, maybe some Brie somewhere?". There could have been more variation on it for sure. New Years disaster. Bought tickets in advance for a "masquerade New Years Ball" but it was really just a normal club night. Only thing special was a thirty second countdown at Midnight. Lame. The night was generally good though, good music, good bar service etc. However, the end of the night is where the sh*t show begins. The club was WAY over capacity and coat check was losing tickets and coats left, right and centre. The result was a giant mob of drunk and angry people fighting screaming and shoving for their coats. We got into line at 1:30am and did not get our coats until 2:45!!!!! 2:45!!!!! AN HOUR AND 15 minutes! And mind you, I was at the FRONT OF THE LINE. After realizing they couldn't figure out whose was whose they just let us into the back to find our own coats. Major fail. Everyone was fighting, an all out brawl broke out next to my boyfriend, the bouncer at the front was straight up trying to fight people. Once I finally got my coat and tried to leave the club, a girl shoved me hard into the bar. Why?! Would have been a decent night but they really need to get it together, that was unsafe, frustrating and probably illegal!! read more

This is a generous 4 star review. It would be 3.5 if I was able. We booked this place for a ladies night out/birthday celebration based in reviews that it was a classy joint with a mature crowd, upscale food and dancing. To start, we waited at least 5-7 minutes at the door to be seated at our reserved table for 8. We were seated downstairs. Atmosphere was cozy and chill, albeit dark as heck requiring a phone flashlight to read the menu. Service was SLOW, uninformed and not very competent. We waited 30 mins for oysters in a room that was half full, 3 of our guests had to ask more than once for their drinks, table was not cleared of old dishes/glasses, water was not brought. One member of our party was so fed up that she asked the bus boy clearing the table next to us to obtain the drink she'd ordered 25 mins earlier and to bring the table water which he accomplished within 5 minutes. Food orders were finally delivered and good, but some were incorrect (manager did comp), overall not a very upscale experience. That would have been fine if we had not been lead to believe that this was an Uber classy joint with a 'dress code'. Things perked up after dinner and once the DJ started in. Bar service was excellent, music was good and we had a great end to the evening. Hoping this was just a one-off evening as we would like to return and try it all again. First time visit to this place last night. It was presented as having a good menu, good wine list and great decor. The decor is great and nice ambiance. The wine list looks good but I had beer: Konig Pilsener and Hacher-Pschorr, both on draft and both good. The beer list is good, but the beer I really wanted to try, the Altbier, was out of stock. As it turns out, although some of the beers, like the Altbier and the Kolsch, are on the menu as theirs, they come from Kitchissippi brewers (according to the waitress). A good local brewer but this is a bit misleading. We had the charcuterie, the mezze and a sausage pizza. Sadly, all were disappointing. The charcuterie was ok but really very average, with nothing outstanding and nothing that really comes from their kitchen. The mezze, that my partner had, she characterized as "just salty." I her mind, below average. And my pizza was doughy on the edges, although the dough was good, but mushy in the middle as if it hadn't been cooked hot and quickly enough. In theory, a really uncomplicated dish that was disappointing, and for $20, not worth it. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place for anything beyond a couple of drinks. read more

We ordered the escargot on toast which was almost inedible. The chips and dip , dip was ok, the chips tasted old and stale. Walked in this place for lunch to try the oysters. The host offered to to sit us in the lower level, and I'm glad she did. The place has an cool antique decor vibe to it.. The oysters tasted fresh and went down smooth! Also had the steak salad with mushrooms, steak was cooked to perfection. I did try the drink called RH penicillin. At first it was a bit tart but once the ice began to melt it was much tastier. Our server was Michelle, she was wonderful. The best addition to the Ottawa bar-resto scene that I've seen since moving here 8 years ago... Excellent atmosphere, super-friendly staff, distinct, high quality decor... And lots of cosy nooks and booths in the basement that makes for a great mix of open space and private seating. The drink menu is extensive and although I'm not a big cocktail guy, they sounded delicious and unique for Ottawa. We had the pizza (Red #6) and it makes top 3 best pizza experiences for me! So far the reviews have lived up to expectations. The service was very slow and they messed up our reservations to begin with. Atmosphere was great. Our waitress took 30 mins to take our drink order then lost our order for a table of 7. Apparently appetizers come before mains, even for those who have no apps ordered. Two hours without food for those who are not privi to this concept. When the food finally came out it was cold and one of the pizzas was forgotten. Giving 2 stars cause the bus boys were great at clearing our table and getting answers for us on the type of oysters were ordered. Spoke to the floor manager. Entire complaint was dismissed. Said to us that this is a new place and we are working on our service. Meantime you look around and see 8 servers and management mingling amongst each other. Upon entering a woman said to me; "I love your dress!"I was so excited to tell her that I had just gotten married, that she met my enthusiasm with: "Well that deserves a bottle of bubby!"
