Came for a team event and found this location very accommodating for a large group' I ended up getting the goat cheese and beet salad as well as the mushroom soup. I really enjoyed the soup it tasted great and it was a nice start to the meal. Once I got to the salad however half way through I noticed a piece of bacon in the salad and had to wait some time to find a waiter in order to get this fixed. When this was mentioned to the waiter he did seem shocked that his was even there prior to taking the plate away. One thing I would've appreciate would've been the servers walking by to check on the table, there were times the table wanted to order extra items or get additional drinks/water and we ended up having to wait till the end of the meal to get these items. We came to the Ottawa location on Sussex on a rainy Saturday for lunch. The hostess and server were friendly and we sat in a booth. The server had to check with the kitchen on several of my requests regarding gluten free and vegan options. In the end I chose the vegan gf mushroom soup and the salad with no cheese. My soup was very salty and did not have the potato sticks on it as described in the menu. When asked, they said they didn't have any as they were changing their menu soon and they didn't order any more. They did not offer anything else instead. The salad was fine. My niece had the avocado toast and enjoyed her meal. The people at the table beside us were also informed that some items they ordered were not available due to the future changing menu. Why not remove them from the menu?? It was a frustrating ordering experience and they should have more vegan and gf options. read more

Milestones Sussex Ottawa: what a horrible experience. We were there for lunch and we ended up leaving the restaurant because the waiter humiliated and insulted us. We understand he was handling 2 big tables but he had no right to take out his drained emotional manner on us, the customers. This behavior is unacceptable and disrespectful. Super meh. We came here because of the convenient location and quite honestly because they had a promotion on Bellinis. The interior is nice. It seems very American upscale chain. (I only found out it was a chain afterwards because we don't have it in Québec). I already knew the food would be that kind of big portion, uninspired stuff but we were hungry and were sick of walking around trying to find a restaurant. The Bellinis were $4.50 per glass or $6.50 for a bowl which I think is double the size of a glass. We each ordered a bowl. Warning, the drink was very very sweet. I liked it but my boyfriend did not. For the meal, we shared an order of hot wings which came with a minuscule side salad. We got them with spicy harissa sauce which was really good. The wings weren't very meaty and the salad was so small, it was comical. 3.5/5 We also shared the Prime rib sandwich. Supposedly what they're known for, we just weren't a fan. I wouldn't order this again. It came with salad or fries and the salad was wilted and underdressed. 1/5 The service was quick and very friendly. Had a delicious dinner here last year when we visited - really enjoyed the food and ambiance!

Not really anything too special to report here. We came as a group of 7 and the service wasn't anything special at all once the server took our food orders. We all got our food at the same time which was great but some dishes were just lukewarm. Presentation is lacking and portions are small for the price. The high calorie content of dishes makes me believe that most of the food is 'filler' or fake. The taste of the dishes confirmed that it's just a bunch of pre-frozen heated up food that was a bit bland. If you're ordering soup, get a side. I've never been to a restaurant that doesn't offer bread or even a tiny cracker to go with it. If you're ordering bread to go with it, avoid the focaccia. What you'll get it a giant loaf of bread with some cheese and other toppings plopped right on top. The Thai curry bowl was unimpressive and whatever spice they used killed the taste of all other veggies in the dish. Pasta dishes weren't much more interesting than a pile of noodles on a plate. We did enjoy our drinks which were very reasonably priced. We would have ordered more but once we got food at the table, the service stopped and no one bothered to order anything else and so we got our bills and left. read more

I don't have her name at the moment, but I'm writing this review for the staff that went above and beyond in correcting an error in our order. We specifically asked not to add any bacon in our order, and when we arrived at home we found that there was in fact a bacon topped with one of the orders. We were fasting all day and was very disappointed with how the night ended and as to why our instructions were not followed. Nonetheless, we called and the staff was very apologetic, professional and handled our complaint with self accountability and reassured that it was just an honest mistake and granted us another order the following day. With the covid crisis paralyzing the word, for restaurants to survive, many join the delivery services such as Ubereats. I was in ottawa and used uber eats for milestones, which i enjoyed in Toronto and Vancouver. i placed my order, everything was fine including delivery I ordered the thai chicken bites bowl which seemed to be prepared differently than my previous experiences and wondered if the recopie had changed. i filled out their survey as their receipt instructed me to do, and selected to be contacted as i didn't enjoy the meal. My survey was promptly responded to via email (very nice) with "so sorry you didn't enjoy. you ordered through ubereats contact them with your complaint. I've gone here many times, mostly for their Monday Girls night which is a great way to enjoy appetizers and delicious peach bellinis! They also let you try it if there's males in the group, and you do not necessarily need to be a group of 4 (more bellinis for me)! ;) Their patio offers a great chance to people watch and overlooks Rideau Street so it's very relaxing. I Love this Milestones - particularly this location. Perhaps it has a lot to do with nostalgia, but even so, we made and continue to make memories at this specific establishment. It's in the heart of Ottawa, steps away from Parliament, the Byward Market, and the Rideau Centre. The food is very good, it's decently priced, and their signature Bellini is a must-have. Parking is always a little tricky downtown, but the walk from the underground parking at Rideau is not far at all. There is a restaurant side, and a lounge side, both of which will house your group of friends or family for as long as you would like to stay. The staff are very friendly and good-natured when it comes to special occasions such as birthdays or bachelorette parties! So, put on your Sunday clothes and take a trip to Milestones - I hope you enjoy it as much as I always do. read more

I came here with a few girlfriends for some appetizers and drinks. The place was empty and the lighting was very dim. The staff was very keen on seating and serving us. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip, calamari, and yam frites to share. All of these dishes were good, but as we were a group of fellow food-lovers, we collectively decided that we've had better. Pro: The spinach and artichoke dip was creamy, and the calamari and yam frites were crispy but not greasy. Con: Nothing was very flavourful. This was really disappointing, as we were expecting the dishes to be tastier, based on the descriptions in the menu, and it wasn't the most economic restaurant, either. They have recently updated their menu, though, so I hope lack of flavour is no longer the case. We also had a couple of their margaritas and bellinis, which were much better than the food. They were refreshing and not too sweet. They came in huge glasses and tasted more like juice than alcohol, which is always a good thing when it comes to cocktails. I believe they now have a special "Girls Night Out" menu, where you can choose 4 bellinis and 4 appetizers for $40. They also have a "Date Night" dinner for 2 menu, where you can each choose an entrée, and a shareable appetizer and dessert, for $50. Though not the absolute best in the city, Milestones is good enough of a place to sit down and talk over food and drinks. read more

Our server may have been new or clueless, but was not knowledgeable about most of the menu items and then tried to cover her tracks after forgetting to order our entrees. But our dinner entrees hadn't arrived an hour after our seating and upon inquiry the first response was that there were some big orders ahead of us, but we were next; then that my chicken takes the longest of any entrees to cook. Somewhere between the excuses, she must have placed the order. I could best describe the food as institutional. The half crispy chicken wasn't bad on the dark meat side, but the breast was bone-dry. My wife's short ribs could have used a lot more moisture as well. We both has high expectations for the smashed potatoes, but they were dry and clumpy and the seasonable veggie came out of a bag. Milestones boasts an awesome patio (a people-watcher's kind of view of Rideau and le Chateau Laurier) as well as a swank inside dining that rests over the canal. I've enjoyed a few meals there in the past. This morning we sat on the patio and started with water and mimosas (actually we ordered one cocktail but the waitress brought two and we didn't feel like spoiling the mood by sending one back... Besides, they were good enough to swig fast!) I'll def be back for the California shrimp eggs Benedict. Avocado and shrimp always make for a beautiful union and the home fries with salsa were a nice contrast. The regular breakfast special lived up to its name- was just regular. I RECOMMEND: Sunday brunch in general, we all have our favorites. Came here for a birthday dinner. Got a Caesar, which is one of the better ones that I've gotten (includes horseradish), and it came with a good helping of pickle and olive to top it off. Followed it up with a Prime Rib (medium) which was cooked to specs. The mash was excellent, and the prime rib with fried onion was good, but there was a suprisingly small amount of vegetables which was disappointing. Girlfriend got the lamb, which was on the overseasoned side and hid much of the lamb taste. Although the seasoning tasted good. Again, same comment about the veggies available. Since it was my birthday, they give us a few cake slices with a sparkler to celebrate, which was a nice touch. While walking in Ottawa we came across this restaurant. We were in desperate need of refreshments and shade, so we gave it a try after spotting they cute terrace. For beverages I took a Lagunitas beer. My mother in law and I ordered a Waldorf salad and my boyfriend and gis dad got the croque madame, a ham and béchamel sauce with a sunny side up eggs and fries or salad on the side. Looked pretty good and they enjoyed it. The salad was very tasty with raisins walnuts and a yogurt dressing. I only wish the portion would have been bigger because it was good, bit then again it was an appetizer so...makes sense! The terrace was tranquil and there were 2 musicians playing mellow covers so it only enhanced the whole experience. All in all, if you're walking around and are i need of a small pause, stop by here. My husband and I used to come here on a regular basis over 10 years ago. Since then we had moved many hours away and produced a family. Luckily for us we moved back into Ottawa about four months ago. On our busy schedules we actually made the time to get together and decided with our two children to walk down to the market especially for this restaurant with our stroller. As we live in New Edinburgh area we decided to walk and thought it would be lovely. WRONG. After an hour walk, we asked the lady if we could be accommodated on the patio to which she said we could as long as we left the stroller either inside a nook at the front door or outside the front door at the restaurant. ( this is a collapsible stroller BTW) when I indicated that this was our only way to transport our children and if it had been taken - the lady indicated the restaurant would not be responsible- I was left very unsettled. This person didn't even offer to seat us IN the restaurant with the stroller. That being said, my family and I walked over an hour to visit and dine at this place only to be rudely brushed off. I cannot and will not suggest this spot as family supportive restaurant. I recommend the Clocktower Pub down Rideau - not even for the food by comparison but by their willingness to accommodate children and actual people. This Milestones location is always reliable with good service and decent food. I came here with my girlfriend for the American Express Prix Fix menu, and we got our choice of 1 sharable app, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert. For the app, we tried the coconut calamari. The dish was delicious. Unlike regular fried calamari, this was lightly breaded and lightly fried. For the mains, we both got the steak. The steak was average, your usual non-steakhouse steak. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either. Finally, the dessert was the drunken donuts. These were definitely the highlight of the meal. Soft, fluffy, and delicious donut holes, sprinkled with some icing sugar and three delicious and slightly alcoholic dips on the side. Be warned though, it's a big dessert. We got 10 donut bits with it, which is a lot for 2 people to share. This Milestones remains a decent choice for reliable food when you're in the area and not feeling overly adventurous. read more

I've always had great customer service and good food at this Milestones location. The staff are extremely friendly and incredibly helpful. The food is good with enough of a variety to please different people. I particularly enjoy the Spicy Chicken Sandwich with Sriracha Slaw with a side of sweet potato fries. The prices are fair. I enjoyed the atmosphere of both the restaurant and the lounge, both are equally comfortable and spacious. Its a chain restaurant. I'm usually pleased with the one in Kanata. The one here on Sussex is not great. Make sure you bring wet naps if you order the burger, its oily as hell.
