Bones!!!

I've stopped by Quinnie's several times over the past couple of years, and the chicken salad has always been one of my favorites. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was a completely different experience. I paid $20 for a chicken salad sandwich and headed out on the road. After driving several miles, I unwrapped it and immediately noticed a small, thin chicken bone sticking out of the edge of the sandwich (pictured). While I was surprised that it hadn't been caught during preparation, I figured mistakes happen and continued eating. A few bites later, I bit down on something large and extremely hard. When I looked, I found what appeared to be an entire chicken wing drumette bone inside the sandwich. At that point, I couldn't continue eating it. I reached out to Quinnie's through social media to let them know what happened, but it's been over a week and I haven't received any response. That's almost as disappointing as the sandwich itself. Finding one small bone could be an honest mistake. Finding multiple bones--including one large enough to be a serious choking hazard--is unacceptable. For a $20 sandwich, I expect much better quality control and customer service.

3.5 Nice, cute spot--great for breakfast and selling a variety of items in addition to good food, such as sardines, gochujang mayo, and even staff-made ceramics. Food-wise, we got the Spicy Greens + Eggs and the Boo Boo Breakfast Biscuit. Sorry, I didn't take a photo of the Spicy Greens + Eggs and only remembered to snap a pic of the Boo Boo after I had already deconstructed it a bit. The food was good, but the biscuit stood out the most since it tasted fresh and homemade. Even though the place had a nice, chill vibe, I couldn't give it a higher rating because the service could've used some work. You walk up to the counter and see the menu written on the walls, but the breakfast items didn't have any descriptions. When we asked what was in one item, the worker looked at us and said everything was written in the handheld menu cards in front of us. So we picked up the menus--only to notice that nothing matched. When I asked about another item, he looked annoyed and said it should be written there. I pointed out that these looked like the lunch menu, and that's when his attitude changed. He wasn't necessarily rude, but he definitely wasn't as welcoming or hospitable as he could've been--especially at 8:30 in the morning.

Amazing foodddddddddddd great service amazing atmosphereeeeeeeeee........................................................

Overall solid 4.5/5 - solid food & vibes. Prices on the upper end given casual eats but still worth. Food - chicken sandwich was delicious with fresh ingredients! Not too heavy - good balance of sauce matched with lots of fresh dill and good-sized chunks of veggies. The freshness of their chewy bread also added great texture to the meal! Potato with gochujang aioli also solid. Service - largely self service but no inconveniences! Ambiance - very cute and cozy interior. Unfortunately it was raining when we visited but I can imagine how good the vibes could be when weather is better!

What a hidden gem! We stopped at Quinnie's on our way to Hudson and I'm so happy we did. The location is beautiful renovated farm property with plenty of parking space. The restaurant itself is so quaint and adorably decorated. There is a full coffee bar, pasties, and an incredible sandwich menu with sides. We ordered the chicken salad and tuna + peppers sandwiches with the spicy potatoes on the side. The food was 10/10! The tuna sandwich was fresh and the bread was perfect, my friend really liked the chicken salad as well. The spicy potatoes were delicious, a must try if you're a gochujang fan! I ordered an iced oatmilk latte, it was good nothing special. The service was good as well. The only thing is the pricing, definitely on the high end for a sandwich and portion sizes. That being said, I would come back!

Lucky we chanced on this place driving back to NYC from the Berkshires! This is an absolutely adorable converted farmhouse, which is now a restaurant/grocery/coffee shop/hang out. They have such delicious food, particularly their sandwiches (all were tasty). There biscuits are also top-tier. They have some seating inside, as well as picnic tables outside. There's a small specialty grocery inside that serves thoughtfully curated goods. They have an assortment of tinned fish, and some great local beers (like Suarez Family Brewery). Last time we bought some tinned fish and consumed it on campus (pretty sure that's ok, although we didn't ask) - along with some wine which they sell there. It was a perfect pit stop! This is going to become a regular stop for me whenever I am driving through!

Surprisingly tasty food, many drink options (cafe, beer & cider, various soft drinks), lovely staff, and ample outdoor seating. Many people bring their cute, well-behaved dogs or small children. Vegetarian options are limit but very solid - they don't feel like an afterthought. The eggplant sandwich is divine and the chickpea and beet salad is scrumptious. Prices are a bit higher than expected (on par with Hudson) but not unreasonable. Sandwiches are mostly about $15, a few bucks less for breakfast sandos, a few more for the more complex/fancy meat ones. Basic cocktails are $12-13. If you like bold flavors and good times in a chill, casual environment, Quinnie's is your spot! I especially appreciated the all-are-welcome ethos and outright queer-friendliness. If Rev is/was your favorite coffee shop in Hudson, Quinnie's might be your new favorite breakfast/lunch spot in the area! And yes, they can cater events!

Pickled eggs.

Hands down one of my favorite stops for lunch. While the chicken salad sandwich is hard to beat there are also fantastic vegetarian options and fun specials. Also who doesn't love a Mortadella sandwich! Being recently gluten free means that I ask for everything over greens and they're more than happy to oblige. Coffees are always top notch and I've had a cheeky cocktail more than once! They're always running fun events - burger and martini night; karaoke; oyster fest and more. Sometimes I just come in for a cup of broth because it's exactly what I want to warm up on a bitterly cold winters day. I love Quinnie's and the staff, the house is an amazing historical find that has been lovingly restored to create a beautiful farm house style environment. Pro tip: if they have the pickled eggs get them, and the interior lighting is incredible for photos as well.

These days, it feels like every bar has a cocktail menu full of creatively named drinks that require reading a list of ingredients just to figure out what you're ordering. At Governor's Tavern, if you want a gin and tonic, you simply ask for a gin and tonic. The only decision you need to make is which gin you'd like. I'm not much of a cocktail person, but I appreciate that not every place feels the need to reinvent the wheel. The place was packed at lunchtime, but we got lucky and grabbed a pair of seats across from the bar. The server who I quoted was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I ordered a Guinness, but unfortunately the keg had just kicked. She recommended the Samuel Smith chocolate stout instead and even brought me a sample before I committed to taste since I never heard of it, which was a nice touch. For food, we ordered the State Grill burger and the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. Both were excellent, and each came with Belgian-style hand-cut fries. If you're spending the day browsing the boutiques and antique shops along Warren Street and want a drink, a good meal, and a lively mix of locals and tourists, Governor's Tavern is worth a stop.

This out of the way corner cafe in Upstate Athens is very homey, open, clean, welcoming and has lots of off beat offerings that a regular passer by would not necessarily expect. It has big windows. For one, they hotly cook-up pizzettes, hot and very flavorful sandwiches, soups, coffees and tea. Right next to the register is a clear glass window box with all sorts of scrumptious sweets, muffins, cakes, tarts, choco donuts and cupcakes - that are made each day, I might add. The display is quaint and spot-on and each dessert is elevated on a tiny cake platter on a doily. Next, all the menu boards (above the counter and to the side) are easily legible, for elderly too. The menu that was handed to me was also not too complicated (2 sides) and was laminated, to avoid Covid. The staff was professional, bouncy (music), well prepared for groups that came and friendly. Some staff even remembered what some of the elderly in line wanted, before they ordered. How is that for manners and style?! Go kick rocks down an alley Starbucks! Lastly - the food and drinks here are simply very outstanding. I do not say that often. My cheese panini-style sandwich had layers of molten and hot cheeses, seared onions and somewhere in that mass also herbs and some dark mustard! It was scrumptious. They serve other classics like turkey, salami, ham sandwiches (some already wrapped for quick sale and go). The Athens Rooster is off the beaten (egg?), no track; (just kidding) but the parking is easy, there are lots of seats and even just simply placing (it's a small gesture, for sure - but chefs like me take note) a large jug full of free lemon water with clean cups on the bar counter at the front, really: makes all the visitors days. Cafe go-ers love those water jugs. Believe me! The Athens Rooster is a well maintained, bright and friendly late breakfast and late lunch spot.
