Lorentz Bruun Construction rocks and here is why: The company has integrity, good workmanship,…read moreextremely skilled workers, is reliable, trustworthy, does work on time and within the given budget. The entire process from design, budgeting, bidding, building and picking out material was a smooth process. I deal a lot with construction in my job and I have never experienced a smoother construction process than with LBC. I've worked with LBC for several years now and even during these difficult times they did an amazing job preparing the site for building and follow through until completed. The owners of LBC are men with integrity that care about the future of the PNW. I had an extremely tight budget and They stuck to the bid, even though we encountered some unexpected things on the property that we had no way of knowing at the time of bidding. I actually think that LBC ate some of the expenses to protect my budget. LBC did the job extremely well with great quality workmanship and within timelines. The fact LBC has been in the business since 1946 is evident by their connections in the local industry and are a pillar of the Portland community. There is no better option.

I recently used Ground Zero for a deck tear-off and re-do. And it was a project that was beyond…read morefirst looks. After the deck boards were removed it was clear that the previous build was not good. The supports were set on cement deck blocks w/o braces, that had migrated and left the supports sitting on the ground! Other businesses may have kicked the dirt back, but Curtis and his crew took the time to reset the posts AND add three more supports to make sure the deck would be sturdy for years to come. Ultimately he ended up replacing/repairing boards and the entire staircase and stringers to ensure my safety and the safety of any guests that would be standing on my beautiful new deck. Even though this project went beyond the time and money that was originally quoted, Curtis and his crew showed up every day and on the last day a beautiful new (and safe) deck was the result. And after all was said and done, he checked in with me a day later to make sure everything was okay.

My husband and I hired Cutting Edge contracting after deciding between two roofing/siding companies…read morethat were very comparable. We went with Cutting Edge because Joe was very personable and seemed to have a down to earth, low pressure approach. We felt really good about our decision until the job started to progress. We hired them for roofing, gutters, siding, along with a few add ons to fix framing and such. During the whole process Cutting Edge was doing the work our interior was also getting remodeled so our whole house was down to studs and subfloor so we had a pretty clear view of all the work they were doing. The roofing came first which was chosen to be done at a terrible time. We happened to have an atmospheric storm after the shingles were removed and although it was supposed to be wrapped tight for no leaks we had SEVERAL! I am talking water dripping on my head in the middle of the night. Probably a total of 10 areas throughout my house that leaked. We had to have them come a minimum of 4 times for serious leaks. They were very responsive to that and did come as soon as they could so that was a positive note. We had to point out several errors that were made along the way as well, such as forgetting to do the house sheathing before doing the flashing on the roof so they had to remove the flashing, put down the sheathing and redo the flashing. They used a white caulk on our red brick chimney. One area of the roof had to have the pitch corrected to match the existing roof pitch and they did not support the wall when they cut the support that connected the two rooflines so the wall is no longer level, when it was brought to their attention we were told it wasn't something they could fix at that point because they had already roofed the area. There was a very obvious bow in the fascia board that I had to point out to them and ask them to correct, instead of doing it properly they shimmed it with plastic shims. One of the biggest disappointments is hiring a company who claims to be top level to install a new roof and in some areas the sheathing they used was moldy when they installed it in my house. Even with all the issues along the way I looked past it because they were correcting most of their mistakes and they offered to help do a few free door installs because my husband who was going to do the install broke his back shortly after they started the job. When getting the bid we had them over estimate to know the high end with a full resheet and we were told and trusted they would credit it to reflect what was used as Joe said they would. I do know that only around half the roof needed a resheet so we should have seen a decent credit back on it. When we received our bill we never received any credits back on the over estimate on the sheathing, when I asked about it Joe told me "he was pretty sure any credit was eaten up by the free door install". That is kind of confusing when we are told it is free but then when we are billed we are told differently. The roofers were very messy, inside and outside. I am still cleaning up nails and roofing materials months later. I will give all the credit to the crew that did our siding, they were phenomenal, zero complaints. Gutter install also went well without complaints. So I warn you if you decide to go with this company make sure you have your contract to reflect only what you know you need. Incase it is not clear on my feelings about our experience I will add, I SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH THE OTHER GUYS.

Cutting Edge Contractor Saved My Home - True Professionals with Old-School Work Ethic…read moreI initially hired Cutting Edge Contractor to install a new roof and repaint my house, but what started as a simple project quickly turned into a home-saving mission. During the process, they uncovered major structural issues and serious code violations from when the house was originally built--cross and support beams not secured to footers, the house buckling under its own weight, water running underneath, and even unconnected sewage lines. To make matters worse, a 40-foot-high deck was not properly secured to the house, creating a massive safety hazard. It was an absolute disaster waiting to happen. Cutting Edge stepped up in every way possible. From start to finish, there was always someone in charge, overseeing every aspect of the project, coordinating the different trades, and keeping me informed every step of the way. Their communication was excellent, and I never once felt out of the loop or unsure about what was happening. Every single person who worked on my home was a true professional--courteous, knowledgeable, and dedicated to quality craftsmanship. They embody an old-school work ethic, taking pride in doing the job right the first time. Not once did I feel talked down to, and everything was documented, inspected, and redone if it wasn't perfect. What was once a musty, unstable house that could have crumbled in an earthquake is now a rock-solid castle. I cannot recommend Cutting Edge Contractor highly enough. If you want a team that cares, communicates, and delivers impeccable work, this is the company to trust! Will post picture of all the new and fixed decking after we get it all stained!

The longer version: The whole Evergreen team (special shout-outs to Brian, Edwin, and Tami) was exceptionally great with communication, gave us a very reasonable price, and left the house looking like a million bucks. For context: I have a real pain-in-the-rear house (3 stories, high-pitch and complex roof, horribly steep driveway, limited back yard access), and Evergreen was not fazed in the least. They knew exactly how to tackle the job, and were extremely patient with my endless questions (seriously, give these folks a medal). Over the years, I've gotten to know Matt and have seen firsthand how he operates his company. His reputation for honesty, integrity, and craftsmanship is well deserved. In an industry where cutting corners is all too common, Matt does the opposite -- he sets the bar. His jobs are well-managed, communication is clear, and the end results speak for themselves. If you're in the Portland or Lake Oswego area and want a remodeling contractor who combines skill, transparency, and great leadership, I'd highly recommend Ziebart Construction.

To prevent problems others have had I had the vents replaced by Cooper Mountain. I called for an inspection and they promptly showed up and took pictures to show me the imminent failure. The builder also put in a vent with no connection to anything. The repairman showed me and went into the attic space to confirm that nothing was amiss. This is the second time I've used Cooper Mountain (roof replacement on prior residence) and I would totally recommend and use again when the time comes.

Ted fixed it promptly, for a very reasonable price, and without trying to upsell. Several other companies were strongly pitching massive scopes of work (for example, full replacement of siding on one side of the house). The job was made more complicated by the solar panels installed on the patio roof, and Ted and his team were able to efficiently and safely work around them (protect the panels with foam and avoid having to remove the panels and re-install, resulting in significant savings for me). This was a very positive experience, I found Ted to be highly professional and a great communicator. If I need roofing or siding repair or replacement needs in the future I will certainly reach out to Peak Exterior! Highly recommended.
