It wasn't just that his price was fair, they had re-sided a co-worker's home ~11 years prior and their name was listed in his stack of references. I spoke to my co-worker and they STILL had good things to say about Gino and Lifetime. In addition, the company is Hardieplank Elite Preferred installer, meaning they were up to date on any installation best practices and that was important to me. Unlike all of the other bids, there was no pressure. Gino was easy to work with, extremely responsive, meticulous attention to detail. No overselling or "the sky is falling" behavior. No eye rolling or treating me like I was a PIB at the end when some little painting details needed extra attention. Was very respectful of me as a woman. No weirdness or disconnect from his team. Everyone was on the same page. And his team are direct employees of Lifetime ... for many multiple of years. This latter point spoke volumes to me. His employees were superlative workers who were VERY careful about picking up debris, daily check-ins, keeping an eye out for my dog's safety, etc. They were on time, in budget and did great work with everyone being super professional. Our house is not small being 2700+ square feet and while winter isn't the best time for having holes in your house, the guys were quick and professional. The final painting had to be held off until the weather warmed up, but as soon as the sun came back so did they. I had great help in picking our final house colors as well. I was in contact with the main contractor the whole time and the same great group of guys did it all; siding, windows and painting. After 3 different bids, Lifetime was right in the middle but at the end they gave us a top dollar experience.

He developed a clear plan to install a French drain to route the water to the existing drain leading out to the street, or, if that wasn't possible, to install a sump pump. The crew arrived as scheduled and worked extremely hard to resolve the issue. They were able to tie into the existing drain, which ultimately saved me $1,800. Everyone I dealt with was professional, courteous, and took great care to keep my home as clean as possible--especially impressive considering most of the work was done through a 4' x 4' closet floor opening located at a far end of the house. We had three different major projects to get bids upon and Julio was one of the several construction company representatives who responded to our calls. He was on time for our in home meeting and impressed us with his attention to detail while considering the work and materials needed to complete the jobs. Julio was able to give us a comprehensive bid on each of the projects (flooring, siding and construction of an external awning/sun shade) detailing a prospective time schedule if we chose to hire his company. He was also able to offer us a discount if we decided to hire his company to complete all of the projects. This made good sense to us as it would save confusion in resources like dumpsters, vehicle parking, porta potties, ETC if we had different entities working at the same time. The work contract was easy to understand and there were no surprises throughout the whole process. Julio also provided all the necessary legal documents to show he had proper licensing and insurance for his company and workers. All the individual workers who Julio sent to our home were professional, courteous and efficient. The building supplies were ordered properly and we were promptly notified about the impending deliveries The demolition and removal of our old poor quality siding was done quickly and skillfully and at the end of every workday, the workers cleaned every bit of scrap and all the sharp nails and pieces of wood that would have been a hazard to us and out pets. The siding crew that wrapped our stripped house was great and the crew that cut and attached the Hardie board siding was amazing in their skillful technique. The painters did an excellent job and got everything right, down to the smallest of details. The awning project was initially not what my wife expected but Julio quickly understood and directed his crew to make the necessary improvements getting it just right. The same work ethic and and attention to detail was applied to the removal of our old, worn-out and stinky downstairs carpeting. After stripping the floors bare, the cement was leveled and prepped for the tile we had chosen from the business that Julio had recommended. The relatively big area was tiled, sealed and new baseboard was attached. During the entire renovation project, Julio was in constant contact with us and he was onsite at least once if not several times a day while the workers were present. The payment plan was clear and simple with no unexpected surprises at the end. I would highly recommend J&R NW Construction for anyone considering a construction or renovation project in the Portland area and would definitely hire the company again for any future projects.
