Although (as so often with reconstruction) more problems due to leakage were discovered as the project progressed, leading to a longer project time than expected, I always felt I was in good hands. We had three different major projects to get bids upon and Julio was one of the several construction company representatives who responded to our calls. He was on time for our in home meeting and impressed us with his attention to detail while considering the work and materials needed to complete the jobs. Julio was able to give us a comprehensive bid on each of the projects (flooring, siding and construction of an external awning/sun shade) detailing a prospective time schedule if we chose to hire his company. He was also able to offer us a discount if we decided to hire his company to complete all of the projects. This made good sense to us as it would save confusion in resources like dumpsters, vehicle parking, porta potties, ETC if we had different entities working at the same time. The work contract was easy to understand and there were no surprises throughout the whole process. Julio also provided all the necessary legal documents to show he had proper licensing and insurance for his company and workers. All the individual workers who Julio sent to our home were professional, courteous and efficient. The building supplies were ordered properly and we were promptly notified about the impending deliveries The demolition and removal of our old poor quality siding was done quickly and skillfully and at the end of every workday, the workers cleaned every bit of scrap and all the sharp nails and pieces of wood that would have been a hazard to us and out pets. The siding crew that wrapped our stripped house was great and the crew that cut and attached the Hardie board siding was amazing in their skillful technique. The painters did an excellent job and got everything right, down to the smallest of details. The awning project was initially not what my wife expected but Julio quickly understood and directed his crew to make the necessary improvements getting it just right. The same work ethic and and attention to detail was applied to the removal of our old, worn-out and stinky downstairs carpeting. After stripping the floors bare, the cement was leveled and prepped for the tile we had chosen from the business that Julio had recommended. The relatively big area was tiled, sealed and new baseboard was attached. During the entire renovation project, Julio was in constant contact with us and he was onsite at least once if not several times a day while the workers were present. The payment plan was clear and simple with no unexpected surprises at the end. I would highly recommend J&R NW Construction for anyone considering a construction or renovation project in the Portland area and would definitely hire the company again for any future projects.

We are sharing our experience regarding emergency roof mitigation services performed on December…read more19. After discovering an active roof leak, we contacted ServePro after hours. We were clearly told the emergency mitigation service would cost $1,200, and we approved the work based on that representation. ServePro dispatched Legacy Construction & Restoration LLC as their subcontractor. Legacy's representative verbally confirmed multiple times (in person and over the phone) that the total cost would be $1,200 to install a tarp and stop the leak temporarily. However, we were later presented with an invoice of approximately $3,200, which was never authorized or disclosed to us. No revised estimate or change order was provided. This is purely unethical and unprofessional. Additionally, our HOA later informed us that the mitigation work allegedly caused additional roof damage (including cutting into roofing material and improper tarp installation), resulting in a $350 charge assessed to us as homeowners. Despite multiple attempts to contact Legacy directly to resolve this matter, we have not received a response. We are willing to resolve this fairly and have offered payment consistent with the originally agreed amount (minus the HOA charge caused by the mitigation damage). We believe in honoring agreed terms, but we also expect contractors to do the same. We are documenting this experience so other homeowners understand the importance of: * Getting written estimates before work begins * Confirming subcontractor responsibilities * Ensuring change orders are documented * Verifying scope and pricing in writing We remain open to resolving this matter amicably.

They cut the tops off underneath the waterline. Didn't remove any debris, just pushed some of it towards the shore. When I asked about completing the job, they said I "thought it looked good". The water was murky from movement, it wasn't until the next morning when it settled, that we knew the job wasn't complete. We communicated to them about the job, crickets. I wouldn't recommend this company or Darrin Douglas to scoop poop.
