This is a mixed review since there is good and bad to mention. I contracted with this company to replace my siding and double decks. This wasn't the lowest priced bid, yet it also wasn't the outrageously high quotes I received from other companies. I was very excited to finally get this work done. At the same time I was working with TGR, I was also contracted with a roofing company, a painter, and a gate company. In the end, the only company I had problems with was TGR Construction Co. There are things I wasn't prepared for in this process, such as my pictures falling off the walls during the siding tear off or the cracks in the ceiling and walls created with the tear off, of which they tried to tell me all these NEW cracks (I live in this home) are due to normal settling of my home and said all houses settle with time and this is normal and not due to the siding job. I know it's not a coincidence these new and sudden 'settling' cracks appeared with the siding work. They broke through the ceiling upstairs and they did own up to this, maybe because it's hard to justify 'normal' settling with sudden stucco all over the floor. There were structural issues that arose during the project, at nobody's fault, that ended up costing me $11K more than my contract. Then I was also charged $4900 more to remove windows and have them reset. Btw, three other companies included the window removal and reset in their contract. It was considered standard for other companies. After the siding and decks were done, I was left with HVAC refrigerant lines on the ground and blocking doors and windows for my tenants, wires dangling under the deck staircase, the Radon remediation system wasn't reattached correctly and sparked scaring a HVAC technician and me, a deck rail was reset too low, refrigerant line covers were accidentally thrown out, and my daughter and I each did double sweeps for nails left behind when work was done. It took almost two months of asking for them to resolve these unresolved issues before some things were finally done. Jan 20th, three months after the crew left, I finally had the last unresolved issue handled. As a consumer, when I contract with a company, I expect to have the job done right without unnecessary stress. That did not happen here. On the POSITIVE, the crew is hardworking and really nice guys. The siding and double decks look great now. My home underwent a metamorphosis and is now beautiful and I receive compliments. I had crappy, rotting decks replaced with sturdy decks. This is the only reason I give a 2 rating instead of lower. All the mishaps, repair delays, and stood up appointments made this extremely frustrating and stressful. Could I have achieved my desired results without the frustration? I'm sure I could have with a different company. Buyer beware! Educate yourself on all steps that need to be in your contract. Make sure the removal of your windows for proper flashing is in the contract. I know A LOT of people and all my other contractors received more jobs through my recommendations. I know currently four people who are looking for a recommendation for siding, yet I can't recommend TGR Construction. read more

I hired TGR as they seemed to have good reviews and knew what they were doing. Once I signed the contract everything went down hill. What should have been a 4 month project, turned into a 1.5 yr nightmare. I hired a general contractor o manage the remodel, but I ended up having to manage them. Frequent mistakes such as not building to the architects plans, not making sure to have the blue prints onsite for inspections or permits pulled, installing the wrong windows I provided photos of, installing the wrong reveal of hardy plank I asked for, and many more. It was a lot of poor communication, poor planning, no project lead onsite most of the time, and lying. They had me at the bottom of the priority list, which an ex employee confirmed for me. They lied about the electrician being the reason the didn't show up when it was the project manager. We ultimately settled to close things out, but it made so much stress in my life and prevented my mother from being able to move in with me when we planned her to. Brad will say anything to get you to sign the contract, and Martin will ignore you. Good luck to anyone that does business with them. read more

I still never heard back from management in response to the letter I had written to the owners. All went great so when it was time to put a new roof on my three-story rental, they were the first one I called. I got three different bids and all were relatively similar in price, but since I know this is such a great company I went with them confidently. Bargain basement work at department store prices. There are just so many things that went sideways. The flooring contractor decided to break into my house at 8 pm. Didn't ring the door bell or knock. Went around back and let himself in via a siding door that wasn't locked by the contractor. When I confronted him he said he thought there was no one home. He broke the glass in a picture and a lamp, stumbling around in the dark. They cut the gas line when installing the deck and tried to pass it off as a perk. Wait!What? They tried to tell me I saved money by them not charging me for a change order for redoing the gas line. They unplug my freezer and I found out after the smell hit. They helped themselves to the tools in my garage and when I asked them why they thought this was ok I was told that I had agreed that they could borrow my broom. Sorry, how is me saying you can borrow my broom equate to help yourself to everything in my house? To top of this total catastropy...one of the workers got handsy and kept hitting on me. The list goes on. Poor work and bogus change orders. I can not even stress how much you should find another contractor. These guys are literally the worst and I have delete with a lot of contracts in the past. read more

He gave me a detailed quote for the replacement of our deck and it was very straightforward. I met some of the office staff when I dropped off payment for a deposit to start the project and they were all so cheerful and accommodating. The work was started on time and was completed on time. Our makeshift deck was replaced by a beautiful and professionally constructed one. They took all the old materials and installed the premium Trex brand deck which we can now enjoy for the next half century without ever having to ré-stain or replace boards. Bravo! I had TGR work on several aspects of my home as part of one big project - replacing my roof, rain gutters and some rotting trim on the front of the house. Brad was the initial estimator - nice guy who took his time and inspected my house talking me through each step. The quote they gave was a notch higher than another bid but I went with them anyway. The team came out and got the bulk of the project complete in just 2 days, however on the third day they unfortunately discovered dry rot on one side of my house from a faulty gutter - they showed me how the years of water damage led to rot all the way down one side of my house. The team was quick to notify me, and we discussed how to approach a replacement for a reasonable price - the team jumped on it and fixed the siding within 24 hours. After all of the work was complete, the crew did a great job cleaning up the site and checked with me for a final quality check where they patched up holes, cleaned off my deck, and they also sent some guys back in the subsequent days proactively to fine tune some of the gutters/shingles on the roof. Thanks to Tonio and Adam (I hope I got those names right) and other members of the crew who were helpful in addressing all final asks. We hired TGR to rebuild our kitchen after a dishwasher leak. We had never gone through a project like this before, but TGR and Dale Dixon were so professional and walked us through every step. Dale came through for us in so many ways, particularly in the beginning with negotiating with our insurance company. He really went to bat for us and made sure we got what we were entitled to. By the time we found TGR, we had been without a kitchen for months. Dale told us he would get our kitchen rebuilt as fast as possible and he delivered! During a recent ice storm a frozen pipe burst in our house and flooded our finished lower level. We were away for the winter and were unaware of this until several days later when we were alerted to the flood. We called our insurance company who said they couldn't even look at the damage for weeks. Fortunately, TGR General Construction was recommended to us. We've dealt with many contractors over the years, but calling TGR was one of the best decisions we've made. They came out right away and assessed the damage. They immediately began the process of drying out the walls and floors. They kept detailed records of their process. They met and dealt with our insurance claims adjuster. They billed the insurance company directly. And importantly, their work was amazing! They were highly competent and efficient. And the finished basement looks fantastic! Their communication was outstanding. We dealt with this whole thing remotely. They were in constant contact with us, both by phone and text. When we got home everything was perfect. The house had been cleaned, the furniture moved back, and the results were superb! Bottom line, we cannot recommend TGR General Construction highly enough. January's ice storm brought down a tree to our rental house and TGR was a huge help in dealing with the insurance company. They were able to get them to pay me more for all the damage for which I am very thankful. Dealing with the insurance company is a pain for both of us but they didn't treat me any different than if I was paying out of pocket.TGR does top quality work , you would never know about all the damage . I hired TGR to do some emergency repairs to my house, which I'll review separately when they're done. I wanted to leave an interim review of their work to repair my roof. I knew my roof needed to be replaced, but I was hoping to put it off for another few years (this has been a very expensive "deferred maintenance" sort of year for me as a homeowner). But Martin with TGR pointed out things that I hadn't noticed about the roof's condition and gave me a reasonable quote for replacing the roof and several of the barge boards, which were rotten. I was really worried about having them do this work in November with a major storm bearing down on us at the end of the week. But they said that they could get the job done, and I believed them. In just 2 and a half days, they ripped off my old roof, installed the new one, re-installed my attic fan vent, and replaced my old metal roof vents with a new, ridgeline vent. I was shocked at how fast it went and how good it looks. I don't know if it's possible for a roof to be "beautiful," but this one is really sharp-looking. My neighbor even commented on how nice it looks! I also wanted to say that I have been very happy with TGR's customer service. More on this in the next review, but I was worried there was a leak, and I texted Martin at 10 pm last night. He asked some good questions to help me troubleshoot and offered to have someone out today to check it out. I feel like everyone at TGR I've worked with has been friendly, competent, and good listeners. I do not feel like they are a "get it done and abandon the customer" sort of company, like so many of these firms. Honestly, I've had to deal with so many contractors this year, and it's usually an exhausting proposition. TGR's team, on the other hand, has been easy to work with.
