There were some highs and lows in my experience with KVN, but with several months behind me to give me perspective, I believe I can write a review that will be helpful and fair. First are the things I did wrong: 1. I didn't get any other bids so I spent the entire project wondering if I was paying too much. 2. I didn't understand KVN is a contractor only - the trucks that come out to do the work are going to have different company names on them. That information is clearly stated in the contract but, related to #1, I didn't read the contract closely and missed it. So I spent most of the project wondering how much more I was paying to have someone act as a go-between with these other companies. 3. Because of #1 and #2, throughout the weeks it took to remove old siding, put up new siding, put up the gutters, and paint the house I was always on edge and quick to anger when something went wrong. Notable missteps by KVN: 1. There was some miscommunication about a small part of the house that they considered porch and I considered house. When we realized this, first day, I could see their position and asked how much it would cost to add that part. I had three different people tell me they'd get back to me with a cost - they never did. 2. Whoever they used for gutters had to take them down and install new ones twice - it was the third install that finally worked. KVN didn't catch the first errors (but maybe they would have if we hadn't checked first) but they did tell them to redo the 2nd install before we were even told it was done. 3. The painter painted the windows shut. We didn't know that until after everything was signed and paid, so we just fixed it ourselves. But the contractor is responsible for the work of the subs - so I'll call this their mistake. What KVN did right was they seemed to genuinely want me to be a happy customer. I didn't realize how much that mattered until a neighbor was having some work done and I saw first-hand the difference between having a contractor who is hoping to leave the customer happy (KVN) vs. one who just wants to get paid (the neighbor's). I had KVN replaced 13 windows in my house and redo the siding on two sides. I had old T11 siding that was buckling, warping, and rotting in certain places. Other places were just fine. His crew removed all the old damaged pieces and replaced them with solid plywood and then covered everything with Hardie plank horizontal siding to match the other two sides of the house. Where they found water damage after removing the old siding they repaired that before covering it up. The damaged part was done on a time and material basis and the owner had previously told me, though he could not guarantee a price for that, the estimate he gave me verbally was right on. His crew were friendly and efficient to work with. The work they did was professional and flawless. Since I had previously replaced the siding on another side of my house myself, I was quite the critic on the quality of their work so when I say it's five star, it's really five star. Afterwards they painted the entire house. I was given the option of having them paint just the sides that they worked on or painting everything; and, for the small additional cost, I did the whole thing. I'm really glad I did because they did a wonderful job in the house looks great. Their bid was not the lowest bit I received, but after talking to the owner Oleg, in assessing his great knowledge of the type of work I was asking him to bid, I picked his company and am very glad I did. Let's start with your new siding will look great. Their prices match others in the same industry. However be prepared as much as they try and minimize it your house will 100% be damage inside. Read the fine print as they do not cover any indoor damage including electrical. I'm still finding cracks that have to be repaired along with a long indentation that has started on one wall. Requested a standard siding quote via their website submission page. 2 and a half months later I finally got an email response to set up an in-person estimate. Not a great response time, but understandable that sometimes there are delays in the process. Someone came out and talked with me about the potential project, took some pictures, and said they would follow-up to discuss the project and options. We scheduled a 2nd meeting for a week later but the salesperson never showed up. I called the company and was told they would look into it. Around 5pm I got a call from the salesperson saying he simply forgot about our meeting and he was sorry. He offered to email me the quote and all of the information, but no emails ever came and I never heard from them again. Great customer service, window and siding replacement is good... - no problems that we know of since installation. They were about the only company that was available and who worked on vinyl siding. - Apparently vinyl siding sucks and contractors hate it. tip: don't buy a house with vinyl siding and buy a house that has overhang over the windows. We've had too many bad incidences with rain getting into the house... Customer service: Kirill patiently stayed with us for like 5 hours while we reviewed the options and called 2 people to get their advice before making any decisions. Kirill also kindly tried to get the cost down for us, we ended up paying around $20,000 for new windows and siding on our townhouse. Logistically, in terms of receiving materials, things were smooth. But upon arrival of the construction team, they didn't know we had water damage behind the siding... That's why we were getting things replaced... The memo didn't get to the team? That was the first red flag/concern. The rest of the week, my partner would find things at the end of the day that needed to be addressed. I don't know if it's normal in this business to find things that needed to be addressed in the middle of the process or if my partner is extra paranoid/detail oriented. We seriously didn't want a 3rd year in a row of water damage so we were extra cautious. Some of the work was, dare I say, sloppy. They had to cut the window sill to fit in the new windows - some were very straight edges, but some cuts were jagged and they left shards of wood in the window sill. - Like they cut too deep into the window sill and retracted but didn't smooth it out. We had to point out those things to the foreman. The foreman seemed very skilled but I question the quality of some of his crew based on the window and other small but crucial details. I didn't appreciate that they didn't put down any paper covering on the deck or inside the house to protect my hardwood floors. It wasn't an issue but it made me uncomfortable to watch them put their equipment directly on my floors. I also wish they talked to us about covering furniture before they replace the windows as there will be lots of dust everywhere. - That was my newbie homeowner mistake, so I don't blame them for not telling me but I wish they were more thorough in telling us what to expect. Better yet, it would have been great if they could have created a plastic sheet barrier between the windows and my livingroom. During the siding installation, my partner found a large gap between the siding and corner of the roof, they remedied it by inserting a piece of metal in the gap. Considering we were replacing siding to avoid further water damage, it was very concerning. At the end of the project, the project manager came to review and he hammered the metal into place which seemed to fix the gap. The foreman also pointed out after installation - not that they could have done anything pre-installation - that there was a bubble in the window and to contact the manufacturer for a replacement. KVN said they will coordinate it for us. We waited almost 2 weeks to hear from them, but once we reached out, they were on top of it and got our replacement coordinated. They emailed the bill, and I should have responded to the email because the 1-2 days later, they called my partner about payment. He was annoyed because to him, they sounded pushy about payment. My bad for not corresponding. But... even if I wrote the check and mailed it immediately upon receiving the bill, the check wouldn't even arrive before they called. Overall, the windows and siding were installed correctly. We have not had any issues with their work. They also fixed everything we asked them to fix. If someone asked me for a referral, I'd recommend them with the caveat that they were kinda sloppy in my opinion. read more

We have contracted with KVN Construction several times, for siding replacement, exterior painting and complete window replacement. In addition, they just replaced a skylight on our roof. Khirill, the owner, quoted an exceptionally reasonable price for each job, and the workers arrived as promised. The workers were very neat and professional, always willing to show me what they were doing, and how they were doing it. They were always very polite - and for a woman at home alone during the day, that was important to me. They also were very patient with our little barking dogs who wanted to see everything and greet everyone! They also cleaned up very well after the work was done, taking care to inspect for old nails, etc., and stray pieces. Very happy with that. Khirill himself came by regularly to supervise the work, and he was always available for any questions my husband or I had regarding the processes they used. We were so impressed with the siding job they did on our worst side in 2015, we had them back for the rest of the house, as well as replacing all the windows with a very good and reasonably priced product. The only thing I have to say is that Khirill is extremely pleasant and friendly, always willing to explain details, and the people who work for him appear to be very happy individuals, and hard workers. The KVN team Oleg and Kirill had good customer service and insight until the winter season was over and we still did not have a contract signed. We started the quote process late in the summer and there was not much time with their work load to start over the nov, dec months. We contacted them in January and asked what it takes to get on their books for scheduling. A simple contract is what we were told. That is when Kirill stopped answering calls, text and emails.
