New Leaf delivered a clear, easy to read estimate via email. I selected New Leaf and we scheduled our appointment. Again, New Leaf called ahead and confirmed our scheduled appointments (Thank you, this goes a long way!). Shaun came out to do some initial pest control work, and then on a second visit came back with a two-person crew. The team laid plastic down in my home so as to not make a mess during the cleanup, and wore PPE for the job. I'm glad the company believes in following precautions for homeowner and employees alike. New Leaf removed all debris, laid a moisture barrier, replaced ventilation piping, replaced insulation, and tidied up items that were hanging too low from the floor above. The situation looks MUCH better. After several hours, the job was complete. I inspected the crawlspace with Shaun, and he did a thorough walkthrough/walkaround of the job site. He was very patience with my many questions, which I appreciate. New Leaf is scheduled to come out in a couple weeks for a follow up appointment/check on the results. He also said we could use Better Basements and Waterproofing for sump pump maintenance (since we can't use the original company), however, he reassured me there isn't a binding yearly contract and I can just call if I'm interested (no need to agree this moment). I appreciated how honest and thorough he was in his inspection and in his explanations of everything. I've had a lot of companies over the years try to sell me on things I don't actually need. When Cliff showed up to assess our leaky finished basement (which took on water during heavy rains,…read morelikely at the cold seam between the foundation (1927) and the rat slab (1980's?)), I was a little skeptical. Other contractors visited in decaled trucks, carrying professional letterhead and selling a "comprehensive" (and expensive) system of trenches cut into the slab, plastic sheeting behind the drywall (and a lot of drywall repair) and a sump pump. Cliff arrived wearing camouflage cargo shorts and a tank top, with an entirely different idea: a drain tile. Due to some mixed reviews on Yelp, I asked to speak with three references, all of whom showered "A" Waterproofing with praise (to a surprising extent). I also read up on drain tiles on Green Building Advisor -- they checked out. So, I awarded "A" Waterproofing the job, and I still feel lucky that I did. In less than a week, "A" Waterproofing had installed and patched over the drain tile. They wrapped the system in geotextile (recommended on Green Building Advisor) despite their patient debate to the contrary. I appreciated the flexibility. Likewise, they were gracious with my requests to add clear-out caps, and to use 45º joints instead of 90º joints so as to improve flow to the drain. The changes may not improve performance, but it gave me some ease. We had 2.5" of rain within 30 hours later that fall, an amount that certainly would have flooded our basement. Imagine our relief and delight when we couldn't find any moisture at the usual spots! Finally, we could rest easy when big rain loomed on the forecast. Our sole point of friction came when "A" Waterproofing cut a decommissioned pipe that lay in the path of their drain tile. Something seeped out and stained our new concrete. "A" Waterproofing took responsibility and paid for the clean up without argument. That demonstrates commendable integrity. I heartily recommend "A" Waterproofing if your basement seeps during heavy rains. Their work cost thousands less than competing systems, which now seem absurd overkill by comparison and would have involved a ton of drywall repair. PS - Before "A" Waterproofing wrapped up, we also had them install 30' of fence along and on top of a concrete retaining wall, and install about 50' of french drain along our foundation. They completed both projects efficiently and satisfactorily.

Service seemed to be good until there was miscommunication. Then explanations changed?…read more We asked Your Crawlspace Guys to come back out after they worked on a wall, but it was still showing movement- we were told that they didn't know the problem was to the extent that it was(1 inch cracks appearing throughout as time went on in the summer) didn't know so much shifting would occur, and didn't have the tools needed to truly fix the problem, but that it would be a reoccurring issue due to the groundwater levels and yearly settling. Other back and forth continued for some time, and once a dissatisfactory review was posted online, their explanation changed. It changed to they knew the issues at hand, but they weren't hired for THAT, so they didn't fix it. Instead of acknowledging my complaints individually, the owner places blame on me and apologised for ME "being unrealistic" - AFTER THEIR OWN WORK INVOICE SAID IT WOULD DO SOMETHING THAT IT DIDN'T. They also claims they did the work for the sellers, and not even me and my partner....as the estimates, and invoices have my name listed on it, as well as my partners(name highlighted in green on attached photo). If they really didn't do the work for us, I would have expected him to hit back with "I couldn't find you in the system" like they have on other negative reviews. I also would have expected them to decline to even come back out to our house, if that was the case. The owner also claimed the company replaced a vapor barrier for me at some point, maybe they meant at closing?? but their response made it seem like they did it as some sort of courtesy sometime after the intial work was done. They either failed to communicate yet another thing, or they made up info to try to make a negative google review look better. We might never‍ know lol. They have so many positive reviews that our experience truly has us scratching our heads as to why our experience has sucked. If my partner worked on someone's car, but the same car came was back within 6 months, with even more issues, and all he had to say "sorry your car is failing, but I didn't know it was going to get to THIS extent, and I don't even have tools for this", he would still be held responsible in his position. It's been nothing but a headache for the last year, I can't go into my garage without feeling frustration and wishing we had gotten bids elsewhere instead of taking the route we did. I recommend going elsewhere for foundation specific issues(they do fine with crawl space work), especially if you're getting work done before closing/using escrow. That, or make sure to physically be present during all conversations and scheduling regarding what's needed so that questions can be asked and stories, blame and explanations can't be shifted later.
