One of the best decisions my husband and I ever made was choosing this company for our construction project! Immediately we sold on how the owners Jamie and Eric came out and listened to our every "wants and needs" and then presented us with many breath taking options that work within our budget. You had us at "Hello" Very impressed with the professionalism shown by the entire staff starting with the very kind Priscilla whom took our call and made our reservation- to our Rockstars of Prodject Managers Billy, Tony, John, Cody, and Kragen-to all the Carpenters, Painters, Electrical Tech Alec, And the Stone Masonry Tech Workers Valintine, Sylvester, Hestor, and Memo to make this dream of a backyard into reality. Thank you just doesn't do it, all your hard work was very much appreciated and heavily valued beyond measure. I would choose this company again and again for remodels- and twice on Sunday! There are so many great things I can keep saying about this company, but instead I'll let the photos do the taking! Enjoy! Hopefully Yelp let's me post lots of before/ after pics- but if not check out my Google review for this company.

    BEFORE

We had a great experience hiring Vulcan to completely redo our backyard with pavers, fire pit and turf. Jamie, one of the owners, spent hours with us; he listened and asked questions. We really had no idea what was possible and he came up with a design that exceeded our expectations. The whole team was great and responsive throughout the construction process. We can't believe the transformation. We barely went into the backyard for years and now we'vit daily.

After signing, the first sign of trouble was communication was very minimal and hard to get any answers, but we knew construction companies were busy. We were told by Sean to email him example pictures of what we wanted to do and he would pass them on to the person who would be in charge of our job, named Eli. We emailed Sean pictures on 5/27/17 of what we wanted to do. After a few more weeks on June 19th, we finally got in touch with Eli, he asked me to email him the same photo's I had already emailed Sean. So I thought we finally might get the ball rolling on the job. Then, we weren't hearing back from Eli. Vulcan contacted us to let us know we would be working with a new person named Tomasi. We found out later that Eli left the company. Once we met Tomasi, things started moving along. At the end of June, they would pop over to the house in the evening to start prepping the space. On 7/5, they finished getting the space prepped and ready. but didn't remove the sprinkler heads, so we couldn't use the sprinkler system. Unfortunately, they couldn't give us a time when the concrete would be poured as 2017 was a busy year for construction. So for the next couple weeks we had to hand water and buy a sprinkler to water the lawn, which didn't work so well. Our nice yard slowly withered away. On 7/17, they came out to do finish the job and we were super excited. So we sat inside out of the way, watching the guys do their work. After some time, we realized there was a problem, a very big problem. Tomasi came to the door to talk and he let us know that the concrete was setting too fast and they couldn't finish stamping the concrete. He said they would be back tomorrow with a jackhammer and remove it all. We also found out that the guy they hired to pump in the concrete, drove a stake through our sprinkler system and that the sprinkler system was no longer working. On 7/18 Tomasi and his crew came over to remove everything. Luckily, we only had to wait a few more days for them to try again. On 7/21, they came out again and everything went smoothly. They came back a couple days later to take off the forms and when removing the forms, they broke off a large piece on the edge of the concrete. They said they would come back later to fix the issue. Then on 7/31, Tomasi came back out and fixed the sprinkler system (so we were without sprinklers for a month) but said he would have to come back to fix the concrete. It wasn't until early August that he came out to "fix" the concrete and what he did was just use quikrete which is not anywhere near the same color but said that was all he could do. When we met with Eric (one of the owners) for the final walk through, we showed him all of the issues. Rebar was left behind our fence, they dumped excess concrete at the end of the sidewalk (we have a corner lot), our yard was half dead due to no sprinklers (see before and after pictures of the yard), we had dead plants, concrete was not fixed properly, the concrete was never sealed as Sean said it would be. I told Eric I was not going to pay full price for a job with this many problems. He left and said he would be in touch on what was going to happen with all these issues. He called me back a few days later and we discussed the issues and he was dead set on us paying full price and I again said no way. We ended the conversation without an agreement and with none of the issues above being solved. So, I waited for a call to in regards to what was going to happen and that call never came. The rebar is still behind my fence, the concrete is still and the end of the sidewalk, I rehung the fence properly, and the concrete was never fixed and later that year, it developed a pretty long crack. I never heard from Eric again and we continued on with our lives. Then 3 years later I get a call on 4/22/20 saying we owe them money. We agreed to give them $1200 just to get them out of our lives (even though we are both on unemployment). HORRIBLY RUN COMPANY! Review would be more thorough if there wasn't a character limit.

No follow through on a $45k job. Disappointing that we put in time and effort with an estimate and no contact after that.

Short Review: I would NEVER recommend this company ever again due to their lack of commitment to stand behind the quality of their company name, as guaranteed on their website. This company is NOTHING like what the previous owner, Brent, built and stood behind. Long Review: I have to agree with Brian F. in regards to the new owner Damon. He is extremely non-responsive. My husband and I worked with Brent, the previous owner, and he was EXCEPTIONAL! Truly! But, we had to reach out this year, 3 yrs after our three level $115k project was completed regarding some settling of some of the posts that needed to be shored up and hoped to get it done quickly. We reached out to Damon in early May 2025 to see about having it looked at. On May 19, 2025, Damon came out to take a look at the decks and said he'd reach out to someone who would be the expert in what would need to be done. After several attempts to receive an update from Damon with no reply, we reached out to the previous owner, Brent, to ask if he could assist in us getting a response from Damon. Finally, on August 5, my husband was able to connect with Grant and shared his frustrations of not receiving any update from Damon. Grant stated he'd talk with Damon and someone would get back to us. Damon called back and stated that the fix for the problem was 'tricky' and he'd be working with another vendor to come and jack up the deck, pour some concrete and get it cared for. That vendor reached out to us on August 26, and came by to assess the decks a few days later. This individual provided what he felt needed to be done and stated that he would let Damon know the solution. It took another 6 weeks of my husband trying to get a response from Damon as to where we were in getting this resolved and at least what it was going to take. We didn't know if Lifestyles would pay for the fix or split it with us or if we would be expected to pay for it ourselves, but we just wanted to have a reply so we could move forward. Today, my husband left another message, stating how we just needed to have a response and that we were concerned about the deck continuing to worsen due to coming into the rainy season. FINALLY, Damon called us back today only to tell us that he was not going to do anything in regards to caring for the repair and that he was 'sorry' that he had not communicated that to us when we initally reached out 5 months prior. He stated that the guarantee of the workmanship was not his problem as the work was done prior to him owning the business. He did not seem to care that the name or the reputation of the company could suffer due to his lack of 'good faith' customer care. I did share that if we would have known that, we could have gotten quotes and had it repaired during the summer months. Now that is the rainy season, will anyone want to take that on? Damon did not seem to care that we were extremely frustrated with the lack of communication and the lack of telling us up front that the responsibility of the repair would be on us. This company is no longer one that I would EVER recommend. You can see by my glowing review in May 2022 when our project was completed and the care that the previous owner, Brent, provided is CLEARLY not the same with the new owner, Damon. We are horribly disappointed.

Ever since the new owners took over in late 2024, I say steer clear from working with Life Styles…read moreDeck and Fence (aka: Lifestyles Outdoor Living, aka: AMK Outdoors LLC). Short Review: Damon, the new owner made this project take 7 months to do 3 gates and about 80 feet of fencing in total, which was never completed. He requested that we pay an extra 50% for the project AFTER we signed a contract. What work they did do was not made to spec, making a 4 foot wide swing gate to fit into a 3 foot wide opening. We had to fire them, horrible experience. Long Review: We heard glowing reviews from Life Styles Deck and Fence from several people, my parents included. All of the good word of mouth was from when the previous owner Brent was there. Towards the 4th quarter of 2024, Damon took over. When we were getting quoted they came by and drafted a contract for 2 double swing gates, 1 single swing gate, 1 stretch of fence that was 72 feet, and 1 stretch of fence which was 9 feet. We agreed and signed the contract in September of 2024. At the end of October they came out and did most of the 72 foot stretch of fence and demolished the old fencing we were looking to get replaced. After that we had silence. No work was done for several months. Every time I tried to reach out to Damon via email, phone call, or text, it was a coin toss on if I would get a response or not. When I did get a response it was some excuse pushing back the timelines. In January Damon did reach out to me. Not with a schedule, but with a plea that we pay him an extra 50% than what was agreed upon from our contract. 50% extra to get less work done. The contract signed said we were going to get steel frames for all of the gates, welded and powder coated. He asked me to pay 50% more and that would not include powder coating. It wasn't until March (6 months after signing the contract) when we started to get any sort of confirmation that something was getting done. Damon submitted a schedule of when work was to be done and completed. Of course this got pushed back several more weeks until when they finally arrived on site in the middle of April. The workers came by and installed the 4 posts required for the gates. After they left I went and checked on the posts and they were positioned incorrectly. The spacing for the single swing gate was a 3 foot opening. On the contract that we signed it specified a 4 foot gate. The posts are steel posts sunken into concrete, so this isn't exactly an easy fix. I sent an email, called, and texted Damon to confirm the gate sizes as this was now concerning. Radio Silence, again. I then got a call from one of his workers that has been there since Brent was in charge. They told me that Damon instead of having them coming to work on our property as intended by the schedule, had his workers send to a different project entirely. I was also told that the gate sizes made where not the sizes specified on the contract. So now I am stuck with gate posts in the wrong position, only a portion of the fence done, and an open driveway with no barrier to my backyard. Working with Damon has been a nightmare, by far the absolute worst contracting experience in my life. If you are looking for work to be done on your property, look else where.

Super communicative and always answered questions quickly! Their crew is professional, friendly, respectful, cleaned-up daily and worked together with ease. They quickly addressed additional concerns with us along the way. They did a great job repairing rot and did a thorough job all around! Alanna & Office Staff are great as well, communicated professionally and clearly in every phone call and email I received! The original representative that we spoke with impressed my husband and I because of how genuinely thorough he was in explaining the process and providing a very detailed, itemized list of the cost. The total cost was very reasonable as well, especially for the quality of the products we received. The office staff was excellent! The siding crew was excellent! The window crew was excellent! The gutter installation crew was excellent! However, we are not completely satisfied with the way the painting crew handled the paint project for our home. In our opinion our home should not have been painted in November because of the cold weather. They stated it would be fine. In addition, protocol was not followed by the painting crew. My husband and I found spots on the finished paint job where we could see the primer. When we asked for the documentation that showed the thickness of the paint applied in the two coats that were required, they hesitated to respond, and when they did respond they told us that they forgot to measure and document the thickness of the paint applied. A paint crew member did return to spot paint the areas in question. We would welcome a different painting crew that would do the job during a warmer season and document the thickness of the paint so that we would have written proof that it was done correctly. We are expecting the one-year follow-up inspection from the owner of Superior Exterior Systems on 10.8.24.
