a modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances

Matt and his team did a good job on our kitchen remodel and new floors. The process was fast, organized, and everything looks beautiful. When you do a major remodel like this, there's always something that's not perfect depending on how picky you are; and HGTV doesn't show you that stuff. With our remodel, there were some issues with communication on both sides. Ziebart Construction was not the cheapest quote we got either, but we liked Matt and we felt comfortable him. Moving on to the actual remodel, we were not happy with the layout of the semi-custom cabinets we bought. The CAD drawings we got were 2-D and we couldn't really "see" how the cabs would look installed. We had to pay extra to replace & modify some of them. In the end, we wound up paying about the same price as full custom cabinets (+ $1000.00 more). In hind sight, we wish we had bought the computer virtual tour and gone with the full custom cabs at the start. The quality of the semi-custom & full custom/modified cabinets we bought were very good. To be fair, Matt was being careful in our initial interview as our budget was fixed. An extra $500 for the virtual tour would have put us over budget as his quote for the work was already at our max. He did allow us to go over budget later on when we asked and with very reasonable terms so we could get the fixes & extras that we wanted. Next, we wish we would have made a different choice on the quartz counters. We love the counters we got, but there wasn't enough material left over to get a bigger island or a matching piece of stone for the window ledge without buying another entire slab of quartz ($4000.00). We weren't told this till the stone was cut so it was too late to research something else. We bought beautiful vinyl floors (floating, click lock style), and had Ziebart Construction install them for us. This type of flooring could not be installed without plastic transition strips between every door way in the house. When you step on those plastic strips, they make a slight crunch sound. It's hard to fault Matt's guys for this one as we researched & bought the flooring ourselves. The store we bought it from didn't really make it clear that we had to have transition strips; only that our installer might want them. By the time Matt's flooring guy came (just before install), he told us why we needed them. We felt committed at that point because the material was already bought & onsite. Matt and his trades do good work and the little things we didn't like were addressed quickly. We do recommend Ziebart Construction and intend to use them again later for our bathroom remodels. From a consumer standpoint: Be sure to buy the $500 virtual tour if you're getting new cabinets. Make sure you're prepared before each meeting with your most important questions. They're very busy and you only get so much time with Matt or Rick to go over things. Some of our meetings felt rushed, but we'll take the blame for that, we asked lots of questions. Communications via cell, and text were responsive. Study the contracts and be clear about what you want & what you think you're getting before you sign it. Do this via email with Matt before he comes over, he won't have time to make a lot of changes onsite. Once you sign the contract; your locked in and the work starts quickly. After we got started, we did LOTS of extra demo, prep, cleanup, purchases, & design decisions hoping to reduce the cost of the project. When the trades came in, they literally had a clean slate to work with. In the end, the price was the same as quoted (minus the materials we had bought), which was disappointing but it does look beautiful. Again, be clear on what you're getting, and what you're going to do in terms of purchases, demo, prep, etc. before you sign the contract. Be sure to keep an eye on the work as you go. The trades people are busy too and they don't read minds. If you don't like something; reach out to Matt or Rick and they'll fix it. *Note: When the final bill came in, the project did cost less than my math said it should be. I suspect that Matt may have reduced the remaining bill for the fixes/add-ons a little to fit my max monthly payment ability we had talked about earlier. I think this speaks to the character of who he is and that's another reason why we'll use & recommend Ziebart Construction again despite the hiccups.

My carpet install was originally scheduled for Monday Sept. 14, but was cancelled due to the smoke. I was very stressed and anxious over this decision, as my condo would remain in disarray for longer than anticipated. Matt was great, he remained calm and supportive, saying that we'd work thru it. Fortunately, and I assume thanks to his effort, we were able to reschedule for only 10 calendar days later; thank you Matt for this reassuring approach around the hectic days thanks to our wildfires. Also, Matt was great in that he provided a number of nice additional "touches" to the finish of the project - one small thing but greatly appreciated was getting new drawer knobs, replacing the old scratched ones at no charge. Matt consistently brings a calm approach; I appreciated his strong faith & knowledge. Each "sub" was excellent - I sensed it was important to Matt that he brings quality sub-contractors into his customers homes. My only suggestion going forward is to remain as much of an advocate for your customer's requests as possible. For me, a top priority was to install new, thicker carpeting + a nicer/thicker (if possible) pad. I felt like I had to "push" or be more of my own advocate than I anticipated. Ultimately, we were able to accomplish this objective and I'm grateful for the work Matt and his group did not only for my carpeting, which is awesome, but for all the other elements of my project, principally my master bath remodel. Thank you Matt, and Ziebart Construction!

Our beautiful Lake Oswego kitchen remodel

Matt and his wife gave us great service from design through the end of construction. Our remodel included opening up the old 1960's galley kitchen, Living Room and Dining Room into one great room. In addition, Ziebart's remodeled 2 of our bathrooms and created a massive walk-in closet. Without Matt and Jacqui we would not have realized the full potential of our home. Additionally, we felt their pricing was always fair and they're great communicators. We will use them again on future projects.

This wasn't a pre-fab or generic solution, it feels custom and well thought out. The installation was clean and professional. Posts are perfectly set, the structure is solid, and the attention to detail really shows. Everything feels sturdy, intentional, and built to last. This pergola completely transformed our outdoor space and turned an unused area into a functional and inviting gathering spot. Communication was easy throughout the project, and it's clear Martin takes pride in his work. Highly recommend TGR and would absolutely use them again for future projects.

This is a mixed review since there is good and bad to mention. I contracted with this company to…read morereplace my siding and double decks. This wasn't the lowest priced bid, yet it also wasn't the outrageously high quotes I received from other companies. I was very excited to finally get this work done. At the same time I was working with TGR, I was also contracted with a roofing company, a painter, and a gate company. In the end, the only company I had problems with was TGR Construction Co. There are things I wasn't prepared for in this process, such as my pictures falling off the walls during the siding tear off or the cracks in the ceiling and walls created with the tear off, of which they tried to tell me all these NEW cracks (I live in this home) are due to normal settling of my home and said all houses settle with time and this is normal and not due to the siding job. I know it's not a coincidence these new and sudden 'settling' cracks appeared with the siding work. They broke through the ceiling upstairs and they did own up to this, maybe because it's hard to justify 'normal' settling with sudden stucco all over the floor. There were structural issues that arose during the project, at nobody's fault, that ended up costing me $11K more than my contract. Then I was also charged $4900 more to remove windows and have them reset. Btw, three other companies included the window removal and reset in their contract. It was considered standard for other companies. After the siding and decks were done, I was left with HVAC refrigerant lines on the ground and blocking doors and windows for my tenants, wires dangling under the deck staircase, the Radon remediation system wasn't reattached correctly and sparked scaring a HVAC technician and me, a deck rail was reset too low, refrigerant line covers were accidentally thrown out, and my daughter and I each did double sweeps for nails left behind when work was done. It took almost two months of asking for them to resolve these unresolved issues before some things were finally done. Jan 20th, three months after the crew left, I finally had the last unresolved issue handled. As a consumer, when I contract with a company, I expect to have the job done right without unnecessary stress. That did not happen here. On the POSITIVE, the crew is hardworking and really nice guys. The siding and double decks look great now. My home underwent a metamorphosis and is now beautiful and I receive compliments. I had crappy, rotting decks replaced with sturdy decks. This is the only reason I give a 2 rating instead of lower. All the mishaps, repair delays, and stood up appointments made this extremely frustrating and stressful. Could I have achieved my desired results without the frustration? I'm sure I could have with a different company. Buyer beware! Educate yourself on all steps that need to be in your contract. Make sure the removal of your windows for proper flashing is in the contract. I know A LOT of people and all my other contractors received more jobs through my recommendations. I know currently four people who are looking for a recommendation for siding, yet I can't recommend TGR Construction.

Of course what we paid would have been a small portion of our overall project budget, but to have received virtually no timelines or final plans, or even basic communication, and to have wasted months of time that could have been used actually planning and completing the project, we decided to cut our losses. I've already hired him to do some more work following the main renovation and I'll be hiring him for more future work. He handled receiving all the materials and fixtures, and even let me send some items to his home (like a bathtub!) so it doesn't disturb my new neighbors. He also brought in my regular mail. I actually got compliments from my neighbors for how Anton's workers helped them with some random stuff. Anton promised and delivered on finishing the renovation before we moved in. While it was a pretty tight schedule, I kept making it harder on Anton by increasing the scope as the renovation progressed (because I was so happy with the work). Even though I kept adding more work, Anton was still able to finish everything by the time we moved in. He and his team are very dedicated hard workers. There are no surprises when you get the bill either, prices are given upfront and that's what you see at the end. As for the work itself - very high quality throughout the vast range of different tasks (flooring, replacing exterior windows, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, replacing kitchen counter etc.). Anton was able to squeeze every inch of space, upgrading our kitchen substantially - shifting some existing cabinets to make more room for a bigger fridge, increasing the size of the sink to the absolute maximum given the existing cabinets (which we didn't want to replace) and even installing an imported faucet that doesn't match the US voltage (for boiling water) or plumbing fittings. I'm so happy with the work he did for us and I hope you hire him too.

Michael was responsive and communicative, quickly notifying us of changes. He got the job done with high-quality standards and within a reasonable timeframe, despite delays and set backs. For example, in late Feb 2025 there was a significant snow/ice storm that delayed the project by 2 days. Michael showed up on the weekends to continue the job to try and make up time. He was consistent, reliable, and transparent. Another example: Our master bath floor was not level enough for the tile, and Michael was clear and open about what had to be done to get the job finished to a top-quality standard. It added a couple days to the timeframe (and some cost), but the final result was well worth it. Last example: The half bath toilet flange had several errors from the original build and contractor work, and the toilet we bought had a manufacturing defect (leak) we found after installing the toilet. Despite these obstacles and added time, Michael brought the flange to code, uninstalled the defective toilet, and installed the defect-free replacement.
