Working with TheRemodelGroup, Kaitlyn (designer) was a breeze. Our primary bathroom remodel was the project with TheRemodelGroup. We felt this could greatly improve our home, and a designer was needed to get the best return on the work. Kaitlyn was essential to our process. Preparation is Key. We used photos and ideas from magazines, websites and other sources to show your designer. We started by identifying our "needs" and "wants". Then we went to determine what's most important to you to help manage costs. The team walked through each item on our list to understand function and cost. We went shopping to look at fixture options. Having a general idea of the fixtures you like (tubs, sinks, etc.) is helpful, as their dimensions affect the design. It's best establish a budget range so the designer can make recommendation. Kaitlyn helped us through the process, and we went over budget so my tips may help. She offered alternatives however we like what we like. The best part of the process was the communication. The portal used to send updates worked great. Kaitlyn allowed us to express our ideas, preferences, and concerns clearly and honestly. She took all of that and worked out a layout that was far beyond our dreams. She kept us actively involved in the design process and provide timely feedback. All the right steps were taken during the design process. THE Remodel Group will be our first and only call for all future work we have done on our house. They were clear about what they could do and what things would cost for our bathroom remodel. They followed through and met all the goals we mutually set. What really impressed me was how they accommodated some special needs we had. For medical reasons, I have to be able to take a bath approximately every 72 hours, though 48 is better. They made sure to set things up so that I never had to go more than three days without tub access. We did have a problem with one supplier, Kohler. They sent two subtly different colored shower wall panels. Though we looked at them outside before installation, because we hadn't checked them side by side once indoors, we didn't realize the mistake after installation took place. Kohler not only sent the wrong colored panels, they continued to shoot past every single delivery date they gave us for months. We were supposed to get the panels at the end of November. They didn't arrive until March and it upped the cost of the project because THE Remodel Group had to demo out what was first installed and then install the proper product. Because I approved what we saw before it was installed, they could have told me "Not our problem, you need to pay for it," but they didn't. They cut their rate for the demo and reinstall to labor only. Even months after the project was done, THE Remodel Group continued to advocate on our behalf for Kohler to reimburse us for that extra cost and yesterday, Steve delivered the check in person. While the project did have delays, it was out of THE Remodel Group's hands. Every single person I've ever talked with about having a contractor work on the house has had horror stories about their contractors. While we did have a problem with the project, THE Remodel Group was absolutely perfect. We recommend them to anyone and everyone. They will be our first and only call when we want to remodel our other bathroom and kitchen in the future. read more

We hired T.H.E. Remodel Group for a 2nd floor bedroom addition. They raised the roof, cantilevered the house out 5 feet and finished the attic/storage room space. From the beginning, Steve exuded transparency and trust and worked with us to get us a competitive quote within our budget. The project got started in the beginning of February and took less than 2 months to complete, which is what they quoted. They met timelines despite one snow storm and several other rainy/snowy/subfreezing temperature days! Their project manager, Michael, is phenomenal and made sure things, like the roof, got done ahead of weather events even if it meant working on the weekend! Everything from the quality of the craftmanship to the professionalism of the contractors, to their back-office process was top-notch. First they responded to my web inquiry very quickly, which is rare in itself. They were clear on costs, worked with my budget, listened to my ideas and brought their own, and clearly communicated when my choices would be above or below budget. Steve came out originally, walked through the house and talked me through everything. Rachel helped with the many design decisions, ensuring I got just the look I wanted. We just purchased an older home with the bubble skylights summer of 2014. During the crazy, windy, rain storm that occurred during 2014 winter the skylights started to show it's age of wear and tear by leaking. We contacted a contractor that we knew and we decided to order new skylights and get this problem fixed right away. By the end of January we were looking for a new contractor to finish the job. That's when we came across T.H.E. Remodel Group. Steve came out to look at the bubbled skylights and the new ones we already had on hand. He told us he was not familiar with the brand of skylights we had but would do his research on them and the flashing kits that was also needed. He did not quote us on the spot like other contractors did, but told us he would get a written quote of materials and labor cost to us within the week. After receiving the quote we decided to go with T.H.E. Remodel Group. Steve and his team were amazing to work with. They were professional, tidy, had great communication whether it was in-person or through email. Steve was honest with us through the whole process and finally our minds are at ease. My house is a 100+ year old Portland bungalow, and has all the quirks and challenges of an old house. Our front porch was 50 years old (based on some vintage beer cans we found underneath it during this project), and it was at end of life due to peeling paint and some dry rot. I'd priced it out with a local contractor who shall remain unnamed, but they came back at such a high price point that I decided I'd need to take it on myself. I was not excited at the prospect of spending two months of summer weekends working on my porch though, so when I walked past a job site in my neighborhood, saw the work looked great and the site was tidy, I noted the THE Remodel Truck parked in front and decided to give them a call. My porch project was definitely smaller than the projects they usually take on - they're more focused on full remodels - but I happened to contact them right when they had a few days open, so they were able to fit me in. They said they would wrap it up in 3.5 days, and that's exactly what they did. The work is stellar - they tore off the old flooring, did some dry rot repair, added structural elements that clearly should have been added 50 years ago (but the carpenters back then were probably too busy drinking Budweiser and tossing the cans under the porch), and did a picture perfect installation of new tongue and groove fir flooring. It was a two person crew and they totally killed it - good communication when they needed input on decisions, the jobsite was clean at the end of every day, and they worked hard from arriving in the morning to the end of the day. The cherry on top: they came in substantially less than that other quote I'd received. So yeah, I'd give them more than 5 stars if I could and would be very happy to work with them again on future projects. read more

Promised finish my kitchen remodel and insulation bedrooms ceiling in 4-5 weeks, but ended up finished on 9th week! No weekly progress report. Bad communication! They promised have designer come alone with the whole job. But we have only see her once after we asked. The whole time, we are not inspired by them. Denied all their non-reality designs! If you know what you want, dont waste money on their design ideas. Good subs, good quality work. However, I won't recommend them to my family and friends! After project were done. There was no phone call or email. They even left the key lock outside. We wonder we paid them too much! About 37k for 800sqft condo (new electrical panel and recessed lights and all new switches and outlet, walnut wood kitchen cabinets and quartz countertop. read more

I called The Remodel Group to do a complete kitchen remodel for my mother's 1967 home. They were very professional and patient over the phone, then visited quickly to conduct an assessment and give an estimate. The owner, Steve, was great to work with and came out to do the assessment. They were very detail oriented in terms of their redesign plans. The project started almost exactly on time and closely followed the project schedule, which they detail via an online portal that is shared with customers. The on site staff were very professional and courteous towards my mother. The group actually specializes in "aging in place" remodels, which was important to me. I called in to get a bid on a small living room project. The gentleman that called (Steve, the owner, I believe) was very rude. He repeatedly told me that our project "wasn't worth his time" and the only way he'd come out to bid our project was if I would pay him per hour to even put together a bid. I understand that I actually may not be worth his time, but to start a conversation that disengaged and harsh is not impressive. Even if my project was worth his time, I'd take my business where it would be appreciated. read more

We had a room(Sun room style) added on to our home during this summer. We are very happy with this addition and enjoying this space with our family and friends. Steve the owner is very knowledgeable about his work and very efficient with managing the project. His assistant Sasha is also a big help and I was very impressed when she matched our wall color perfectly from a sample in a book! We were on a time crunch and Steve slipped only very slightly. Our only disappointment was that the quality of workmanship dipped in the finishing stages,and this could be because Steve couldn't visit the site in the final stages.But to his credit once he reviewed our check list he fixed all the imperfections to our satisfaction. I first hired THE Remodel Group to fix a botched kitchen remodel job by another contractor. I was so impressed with the professionalism and skill level that I hired them again for three more projects. The next project was a remodel on the downstairs of my home. My daylight basement was a sad sight indeed. But, now with fresh wood work, lighting, beautiful flooring, and an updated fireplace, it's become the place I want to hang out now. I also hired THE Remodel Group to revamp the fireplace on the main floor. This was quite the project because it took a lot of creativity and a mix of several different subcontractors. I ended up with a fabricated steel fireplace mantel, Myrtle wood columns, slate tile and modern gas fireplace. All the elements came together to create an amazing focal point for my living room. It's very artistic and the amazing part is how they were able to bring my ideas in my head to fruition. It's quite a masterpiece. I was very disappoint in THE Remodel Group. They installed my fireplace in 2012. I recently had NW Natural come out and they found that the fireplace had not been installed correctly from THE Remodel Group. That there are several small gas leaks. I then call THE Remodel Group and asked for them to please come back and correct this situation. I was told that it was not their responsibility because the warranty was done. I stated, that it was never done correctly from the start. Again THE Remodel Group did not care. I was even told that since I had lived with it this long, it should not be a concern. I do not recommend this company. Instead, look for one that believes in doing good work that they will stand behind no matter what. read more

Steve continues to be an extraordinary general contractor that works with my clients and my design firm. He is a straight shooter, and his work is one of the best in the area. He will approach you with kindness, but straight talk. He and his teams craftsmanship, service and commitment are exceptional. He makes me a better design professional. He helps me value engineer our projects and his collaboration to make a good project is extremely valuable. I find time and time again that the public needs educated on the cost of remodeling services and that not all contractors are created equal. Some just simply give you a bid number so they can start the job knowing it will be more. Some can't keep a schedule or manage their subcontracting team and weeks or months of delays are unbearable. Steve has hit every agreed upon budget and schedule he has given a client of mine 100% of the time. I can't say that of 95% of the contractors I know. He doesn't take on every client that calls or he meets - just like I don't. If you are a good fit, you are lucky to work with Steve and his team. The value is extraordinary. Our business unfortunately includes a lot of misinformation, ignorance and shady sales tactics to get business. It is a shame, but this man is one of the good guys. read more

A couple of years ago I had some remodeling done by The Remodel Group which turned out nice. But when I contacted them again regarding a bathroom remodel they really weren't interested (not a big enough job)...but because I was a past customer they would give me a bid. Unfortunately, they wasted my time and theirs. Case in point: Their initial estimate was in the same price range as several other contracts and my past experience with bathroom remodeling. When the bid contract was presented to me it was 2 1/2 to 3 time higher than the initial estimate. Just an insult... the explanation was just smoke and mirrors and misinformation and not being straight-up with me.. They could have just been up front and said the job was to small. I would caution that you do your home work with bids and explanations of how your dollars are being spent. The Remodel Group has posted a response to my post with some points that are incorrect...one important one is that the 30 thousand stated is actually 35 thousand according to their contract.
