Me and my friend went to Q nails to both get French tip fullsets. The man started out with my friend, he seemed to have rushed her nails from the start and when he had finished they were nothing that she had asked for. She was very very upset but didn't want to make it a huge deal or make them completely restart since we both had him... then I got into his chair and he did mine, I told him what I didn't like about hers and how I wanted them to look a bit different. I wanted my French tip to start higher up so more of my nail bed would be showing, less nail. I also didn't want mine to be so wide all around and wanted them to be more of a coffin shape. Then he continued to cut them into straight stiletto nails. I told him "these are not coffin, is there anyway that we can fix these?" He knew that right away those were not coffin either, he looked at me and said "oh you wanted just slight coffin."...... I stated "just like a regular coffin please" & then he asked if I wanted him to just restart because he knew it was his mistake.. then once he took off the nails he had just put on he realized he didnt cut down any of my nails from the length they were when I came in...so I mentioned that and that was fixed but if he had not messed up he would have never realized that mistake either and they would be super long underneath. He then was extremely rough with removing them & even burned me with the nail drill, unintentionally probably but just careless.. then he files and shapes them and does every other normal thing. He then finishes up and puts the gel on and put them under the light. I have got my nails done so many times and any nail tech will vouch that you have to wash your hands, I was never told to leave my seat and never washed my hands and never realized till the end when there was all the dust that he never dusted off my hands or nails at ALL and immediately after had put the gel on. There is LITERAL DIRT under my nails ! & now that they have grown out a tiny bit you can tell he never pushed back my cuticles either... I have just never been so damn unhappy with my nails before.... I'm so sad & I forgot to mention that we had also asked him to fix my friends after he finished mine. She had just decided to just forget the whole idea of French tip because of how horrible they looked. She asked if just paint them white and try to reshape them & he charged her 5$ extra to fix HIS OWN MISTAKES.... so unhappy and will forever tell people to avoid this salon ... read more

FANTASTIC nails! They offer dipping powder which seems to be hard to come by. Especially in Vancouver! Looks can be deceiving w/ this place. Inside and outside. This place is sandwiched btwn a oil change shop and a qwiki mart. Doesn't look like much. Really doesn't look like much when you walk in either. The work they do though is phenomenal! I've been back multiple times. It's also nice to see a mix of men and women working on peoples nails. The prices are extremely reasonable. I've tried 4 salons since moving to Portland. This location was the only place that got it right every time! I'll be back again. Would love to see them reno the interior of this place. Will create a buzz and draw a lot more customers. I really find that I get an excellent maincure here. I enjoying working with my manicurist Toni. She is helpful and offers great suggestions when asked, but is otherwise not too chatty. This is perfect for me. The manicures here last a full two weeks. I will put up a picture toward the end of its useful life so you can be the judge. I get a full manicure. She is very attentive to cuticle trimming. My hands always look very well groomed. They have a huge selection of gel polish colors. I'm very happy here. The prices are good too. read more

NEVER go to Q Nails! I paid $ 122 two weeks ago to get a pedicure and a full set of long nails. Within the first week, three of my nails came completely off just like a press on nail would!!! I've been getting my nails done for 30 years and NEVER in all that time have I EVER experienced acrylic nails just popping off! The ones that didn't pop off, were lifting and were about to. I was livid! This is not something I can normally afford and this was a long awaited, highly anticipated treat for me. I called them and they redid them for me 3 days ago. Even though I was very upset, I was very polite, understanding and appreciative of the fact that they gave me a whole new set. Then, last night, my nail just snapped right off! I am very careful with my nails and was not even doing anything strenuous at all! I am in so much shock and disbelief here. I have two other nails that are starting to lift. Went in for a pedi with my Nana. We sat in our chairs. I got my chair massager going 10 minutes later my chair starts beeping. They have to stop the chair to stop the noise. Now no back massage for the rest of my pedi and the massage ball, in the chair, stuck in the middle of my back the whole time. Nana's pedi started before mine and ended after mine. Want to know why? Because I also got no leg or foot massage. My nail tech was in rush. And instead of making it right about the chair my feet are now also getting the short end of the stick. My Nana's nail tech gave her a great massage. I watched in envy, wanting my feet in her hands instead of my techs hands. Q nails is close to my home so I took the plunge and decided to give them a try. Jason blew me away! He was quick and efficient and I LOVE my nails. Not going back. I made an appointment with Jason because after looking at yelp pictures he seemed to do most of the acrylics. When I got there he was finishing up with another client so this other guy who works there said he was going to start my nails to get me ready for Jason. He glues on the tips and then sloppily shapes them to the style I want which is the coffin shape. As he clips them he clips off skin on 2 of my fingers and he also clipped it super crooked. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to be super picky so I went a long with it. When I get to Jason I notice my fingers are bleeding on the sides where that sloppy guy chopped my skin off. Jason is really nice and makes good conversation BUT.. over all my nails looked sloppy. The nail polish was so thin that when my nails were in certain lighting you could see the sloppy paint job except I had one nail that was painted solid somehow lol and they are pretty far from my cuticles already. They didn't do any cuticle prepping to make sure it would look natural. Btw my two fingers are still sore and have scabs now thanks to sloppy guy who cut my nails. read more

I came in on a quiet Memorial Day afternoon and thought with all the time in the world my set would turn out pretty good. I haven't had acrylic nails on in years so I was already nervous. While Kevin did his best to accommodate my request for thin, more natural looking nails, it just did not deliver. Around the base/cuticle, the acrylic is on my fingers and not smooth. I got them done two days ago and things are already catching on that end of the nail because they are not flush with my nail. I have been going to this salon for over 20 years. Today I was humiliated and embarrassed by the owner Kenny.... Last week when I needed a polish change and I called to see if they were busy he said that they were too busy and I said OK and out of frustration , to myself not to him I said a cuss word , but it was not in anyway shape or form directed toward him. Today when I went in he said I always complain when I come in and he was rude, hurt my feelings and made me cry. I apologized profusely and said to him nothing I said was directed toward him and I was sorry that he took it that way. I am not going there any longer because now I know how he really feels about me and I do wonder now if in their own language they're talking about me behind my back. I've been to so many salons in Oregon and Arizona and have never experienced this before. I had the money, but why do that? I had a pedicure today and was very disappointed. First off the man (Kevin?) wasn't very friendly. Once I chose my nail color he seated me and left me there, he didn't offer to help me into the chair, take my purse or turn on the massage feature of the chair. After a few minutes, he came back and started working on the women next to me, he leaned over and turned the water on in my tub. He didn't ask me if the water temp was ok and it WASN'T it was scalding hot. I couldn't even put my feet in it! I told him it was too hot and he turned the temp down. Then they left me soaking for over 30 MINUTES!!! I was a prune and the water was cold by then. I WAS going to get the deluxe pedi, but by then I had somewhere else to go and got the cheap one. It was ok, nothing to rave or rant about. It was VERY obvious she was over worked. She kept rolling her neck, she seemed very tired and physically uncomfortable. I felt very sorry for her. My friend and I wanted to get our nails done for her birthday. We went here on a last minute whim and they had openings. The gals did okay on the pedicure but wanted to charge $10 more for glitter nail polish on their regular display above the additional charges already accrued for gel nails. We skipped the glitter altogether because the price wasn't worth it. We ended up getting our fingernails done too. This is when it got worse. They reused their old nail files, etc and did not offer us clean/new supplies. Then the gal did not have me even wash my hands after the prep process was completed. This caused the dust to be left on the nail-bed and create bubbles in the polish. Despite me asking her to redo the areas that had bubbles, there were still clean up issues (polish on the fingers and not the nail that needed clean up etc). Because of their lack of tidiness, the finger polish started peeling later that evening. My friend was trying to grow her nails out and they cut her nail short even when she asked them not too. She ended having to have all her nails cut short to match the one the gal cut. My kids received manicures there too. They got bored and wanted to use the portable DVD players at the salon while waiting for us to finish. The folks said they could use them but then refused to help the kids turn the players on and ignored them despite me and the kids asking for help several times. The manager was pleasant, but apparently clueless with how his staff was treating paying customers. And they charged a lot.... Beware. I know I will not be returning. read more
