The order includes 3 tacos with the choice of pork belly, burnt ends, and pulled chicken and served with pickled onions and salsa. The tacos were full of flavor!!! You MUST top it with the pickled onions. It is the perfect acidic addition to help cut the meatiness. Good meatiness but still meaty! The salsa was nice but not particularly memorable. Fries have a strong texture and also very good. While all the above drives this review towards 5 stars, the experience seemed to fall a bit short. The restaurant's appearance provides the impression of a full service sit-down experience but it's not. Payment happens at the beginning along with the software-promoted tip option--much like a fast-food place. Ribs may only be ordered with the mandatory hushpuppies which are made well but I don't prefer. If you decide you want any additional items, you'll have to stand in line all over again. And at the end you clean your own table, which everyone should do, but it only added to the other minor inconveniences. Service was very friendly and inviting, no concerns at all. It was large and hard (minds out of the gutter), but delicious nonetheless, just not the go to item. I ordered the 3 meat platter which comes with 2 sides and 2 hush puppies. I had the burnt end brisket, turkey, and sausage. The turkey was moist and flavorful, the sausage had a kick to it, and you already know how I feel about the brisket. The BBQ sauces were my favorite! The Memphis sweet and the Texas spice to be exact. Naturally, I wasn't a big fan of the North Carolina vinegar but I don't like vinegar. Thanks to Michael and the crew at Q for another fantastic meal. Especially since it was my birthday. I had posted on Facebook that I was coming in for my birthday dinner, and they had printed out my picture and were looking for me. They gave me a birthday dessert and drink. It was wonderful. We had eight of us, and even though we had to wait for a table big enough for us, it wasn't long. Food was fantastic. So glad they have the Papa Q Sampler. All four of the men in the group got the sampler, and all four of the women got the Southwest Salad. Everyone had a great time, as always. And Michael was the gracious host that he always is. I am a fan of Q's. I am writing this review to give people a heads up about it's location. It is located on the west side of the street next to the small parking lot next to Horton's and a couple of doors north of the theater. Trust me, if I had not parked directly in front of the place, I don't know how long it would have taken me to find it. I can't add anything about the food, it is delicious and messy. It is nice that they have a sink just around the corner from the cashier so you do not have to tie up the single person bathroom just to wash sticky hands. Is it La Grange, or La Grange Park? I've seen it called both. I don't know. I'd be lying if I said I cared. What I do know, however, is that I can now say I have a go-to barbecue spot. And it's in La Grange Park. ..or ...not Park? Whatever. And let it be known that I've never been a huge barbecue person. The only thing I knew about barbecue growing up was my mother throwing Sweet Baby Ray's on some chicken to spruce it up. If you're like me (for your sake, I hope you aren't) and you're indifferent to barbecue, I'm willing to bet you'll still dig this place on account of their variety of sauces. I'm not a fan of sweet sauce. Q BBQ has taught me the North and South Carolina sauces suit my palate the best. They're not sweet at all. Texas and Memphis styles are very sweet, so I skipped on those. I ordered the sliced brisket and it was obviously tender enough to be cut with the plastic knife they gave me. I knew I loved the Smoked Pulled Chicken so went for the combo meal for $6.99. It's a great deal for just the sandwich but for that same price you get a side dish and hush puppies. Q's hushpuppies (Q-puppies) are unlike anything else! Mac-Q-Roni was the side dish I went for at Q and it was so yummy in my tummy. The only place I'll get BBQ when in the burbs. We randomly found this place about 5 years ago and have been going back ever since. We've tried a lot of thing but our favorites are the brisket burnt ends, mac n cheese, hush puppies and of course the spicy bbq sauce. The brisket burnt ends are so flavorful and juicy. The meat is so soft it falls apart with you pick it up. You also know its made fresh daily because it's not oily or chewy. They're burnt to the perfect crisp. We'll get it as a plate or in sliders. The sliders can be upgraded to q-style which adds coleslaw and mozzarella to it which sounds weird but works so well with the spicy bbq sauce and the brisket. The hush puppies are light and filed with whole pieces of corn. You can tell they're made fresh to order because they're not filled with oil or hard to bite into. The mac n cheese is a classic mac n cheese with a ritz cracker topping. The topping is alittle weird at first but it grows on you. The pasta is tender but not over cooked and the cheese sauce is creamy and smooth. Finally the spicy bbq sauce, this brings all the items together. It is spicy tangy and thick. It goes well paired with all the items they sell. They also sell this buy the bottle which we always get suckered into getting. I def recommend checking this place out. Service is excellent, from front counter, to the friendly hostess, who politely checks in with every table mid-meal, excellent! It's dissapointing that their sampler options do not allow for ribs to be included; that would never happen at a true BBQ place in say, Texas. Given that, I ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich, with a side of cole slaw and hush puppies (called Q puppies, here). The pulled pork was served on a sturdy bun and did not soak through the bottom (like recently at Feed in Chicago), bonus pts.! Served with a light portion of Carolina sauce, the Memphis sweet BBQ and Texas Spicy and Sweet sauces on the table really added to it. The hush puppies were too deep fried. But the cole slaw was excellent. Great choppy cut, and not drowning in sauce or vinegar. The decor is vintage but not corny, and classic blues plays continuously. It's like you walked into a bbq place in Memphis or Austin. They have Texas Brisket that they smoke for 15 hours. A Texas Sausage that they import. Memphis style dry-rub ribs, Carolina Pulled Pork and more. The Mac & Cheese is good, but the beans are great! My favorite is their Q-Puppies (Hush Puppies)...WOW! I finally went last night, and was still asked "How have you NOT come here before? You practically live in LaGrange!!" Q BBQ has been on my radar for a while, but it didn't seem right to go here alone! I was so pumped to finally go though! The shop is moderate size, and really nice-looking inside. I liked the fact that it was more about promoting LaGrange, than pretending that it was a transplant from Texas. There were nice pictures of the town from the 1930s, autographs from the local news people and celebs, and just a nice atmosphere all around. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich, got green beans as a side and a diet coke- but was impressed to see their selection of craft beers/wines that were offered too! The pulled chicken was very good, and only slightly covered in BBQ sauce. I liked this fact because I was more than intrigued to try all the sauces on the table outside. My two favorites were the spicy texas sauce and the mustard- fan-FREAKING-tastic. I could've stolen those, but I'm not a teenager in LaGrange that's up to no good, so I resisted. The portions were basically a "normal" size, but I still was able to take half my sandwich home. The greenbeans were in a balsamic and maybe parmesan?? covering, and were good, but a little tough. The QPups were suuuuper crispy and delcious. I could've gorged on those, but thankfully my meal only came with two. My family and I have been loyal customers for years. The food is consistently delicious and it has continued to be one of our favorite bbq spots, however, over the years the prices have increased and the portions have decreased. We recently had carry out from here and when we got home the pulled chicken sandwich had about 3-4 small sized pulled chicken pieces. In fact, the amount of bread on the sandwich far surpasses the amount of meat on the sandwich. We also noticed that the normal 2 hushpuppies per meal were no longer served. So disappointing to see how the portion sizes have changed, along with the increase in pricing. There are other bbq places in the area that have comparable pricing and far superior amounts of food for the price without having to skimp on flavor. We've also visited the Naperville location and have not had the issues we've seen over the last 2 years with this location. read more

Q BBQ is a small and very busy barbeque joint located in Downtown LaGrange. They have a fairly small menu and would qualify as an independent casual dining restaurant. I've been to Q BBQ a number of times however I recently had my first visit in roughly a year and figured now would be a good time to review them. The first thing that's noticeable about Q BBQ is the fairly small menu. A lot of other BBQ joints offer burgers, chilli, soup and other items not traditionally associated with barbeque to widen their offerings and appeal to a larger audience. Q offers chicken, beef brisket, pulled pork, ribs, a few sides, and now salads which I don't recall them offering in the past. When you eat at Q there are four different kinds of sauces placed in squirtable bottles on your table. First off is a Memphis Sweet sauce, then there's a spicy barbeque sauce, then there's a vinegar and a mustard sauce. All of the sauces have a nice flavor and depending on what you order can compliment your meal nicely. In visiting Q BBQ on this past occasion I decided to go for a chicken sandwich. It came on a bun and I got a choice of a side in my case I opted for two orders of hush puppies, as they have some of the best around. When I got my chicken sandwich I noticed a few things, first off I noticed a lot less meat on the sandwich than previous visits. While there was still enough to make a good sandwich this was a bit of a let down. I also noticed a difference in the taste of the meat itself, again it was cooked well but it didn't have the level of smoky flavor it used to. While my favorite item from previous visits had been the ribs, and I didn't try them on this visit, I can't help but feel somewhat disappointed with Q on my most recent visit. Prior to this I probably would have given it five stars, and I'm sure I'll be back again at some point and if I have a better experience, I'll update my review. This is a CHICKEN WING review based on a take-out order so bear with me. I ordered the 'rubbed wings' that folks keep mentioning because my husband is a freak for wings. Great texture, crunchy on the outside with no breading and moist inside, but I was expecting more 'wow' from the whole 'rubbed' barbecue taste experience. And I wasn't impressed with the Hush puppies, I found them a rather bland deep fried corn bread. I guess I'm forever spoiled by the down home puppies at Ralph and Kacoo's in New Orleans. Probably the reason for the raves is due to the smoked flavor and they stick to the basic 'wing rules'. But I'm sure hubby will agree, that if you're in La Grange and want the best chicken wings for the price you'll stop by Harry's in Countryside and pig out on their 25 cents chicken wing Tuesday extravaganza. BUT, I will say I'm planning a second dine-in visit for the actual ribs and chicken experience. People seemed pretty darned happy with their orders as I waited for mine. I really wanted to like this place. The food was dry to a basically inedible point. The brisket I got was 90% fatty couldn't do anything with that. Hush puppies also extremely dry. Mac and cheese was so bland, even my 6 year old wouldn't eat it. The hot potato salad would have been good if the bacon was cooked thoroughly. It was still very squishy and fatty. I tried the sauce separately though and those were good. Hot link sausage was pretty good as well. Lots of potential in this place so maybe I could see myself giving it another chance. But the food was very tasty. You could taste the smoke flavor which was a plus. We got the Papa Q sampler which is probably more for 3 or 4 than 2! We had quite a bit leftover but very handy to go containers are within reach. The brisket and burnt ends were my favorite out of it all! Took the family here for dinner. Was not familiar with the area, and was happy to find an upscale, modern, downtown area. I can understand the other review I saw calling this a Chipotle for BBQ. The seating area is a bit cramped, and although the place was mostly empty, we got seated directly next to another filled table and we had difficulty getting in and out. Notice to management: if the place is empty, give people room to move. On to the food...we ordered a burnt end salad and pulled pork sandwiches (I asked for mine open-face style, which they accommodated). My wife said the salad was tasty, but the burnt ends were too spicy. The pulled pork was decent. The hush puppies that come with the meals are very good. We also got some baked beans, green beans, corn bread, and cole slaw. The sides were ok, but really nothing special. The cole slaw, in particular, was formulaic. Now the sauces...all the sauces were available at the table (bonus!). The best of the sauces is the Carolina vinegar, in my opinion. The sweet Memphis was WAY too sweet, and the Carolina mustard contained Rosemary and Thyme that overpowered the sauce and made it inedible. Another bonus, is they have to-go trays and to-go sauce cups right at the condiment stand. Appreciate that! On the minus side, the only desserts I saw were prepackaged items that were un-inspiring. From Texas Brisket to Baby Back Ribs, to Texas Smoked Sausage and Pulled Pork and Chicken- there is something for everyone at Q BBQ. Pull open the front door of this smallish restaurant located just down from the La Grange theater and the smell will hit you. No really- hit you. You will smell like BBQ for the rest of the day. I think they need a more supportive exhaust system or something as "Eau de smoke" was not really what I was going for. That aside, we walked up to the counter and ordered; pulled pork sandwich with "fresh cut fries" and hush puppies for me, Memphis Chicken wings for him along with the two sides of mac and cheese and coleslaw (they were out of the green beans). You are given a number, find a seat and your food is brought out to you in short order. The ambiance is more fast food than sit down style. A roll of paper towel is on the table along with 4 different sauces. A small pail hangs overhead as a light fixture. And a stack of wood rests outside the front door as a "cue" that something smokey is going on. We grabbed a great table in the front window. While my sandwich was good (large soft roll and tender pork) it wasn't anything notable. Even after I tried all the sauces on the table (Carolina vinegar, Spicy BBQ, Sweet BBQ and S. Carolina Mustard sauce) the sandwich still was pretty basic. And those fries? Eh. They had been held too long and were soggy. Hush puppies really aren't my thing either but they seem to come with everything you order. The Memphis wings were a little better but the mac and cheese side was not good (more noodles than cheese and the Cheez-Its crumbled on top did nothing to help) Lunch for two ran $18 which was pretty cheap given the quantity of the food. Parking is easy (hey- it's the burbs!) with a free lot behind the restaurant. Q BBQ is a solid choice. Their chicken had a different sweetness to it that was pretty good. Their rib tips were very smokey. And, I like how they let you choose what kind of sauce to go with it, whether it be spicey, sweet, or plain bbq! My wife found this place and we've gone a couple times now. It still doesn't beat our favorite BBQ ever in Smoque (not in a single category from what I can recall) but overall might be the second best BBQ we've found in Illinois. We liked that the menu was a little more expansive with items like burnt ends, hush puppies, and a host of spicy sides items they added this summer like Jalapeño Brussels sprouts. The ribs are very sweet, the rub uses a lot of brown sugar from what I can tell. This place is pretty alright - a solid 4 stars from me. Their meats do not come smothered in sauce (THANK YOU) and they have three different sauces for you to try at your table. Highlights for me included the Memphis wings (with just the right combination of salty and sweet) and the pulled pork. The brisket, unfortunately, was not very good. It was dry and looked like it had been sliced before we ordered it (a huge brisket no-no). My brisket standards are pretty high, though! I had hushpuppies, fries, and Mexican street corn for sides which were all flavorful and fresh. Well, except for the canned corn, but hey, I ordered corn in December, it's to be expected! The entrance and exit are a little strange, you line up to order in the same place where people are exiting. A small inconvenience, just makes things a little awkward sometimes. There are a few things they could tweak to make this place outstanding, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Q-BBQ. read more

Pleased to report that a recent try here was good. Particular call out to the brisket . didnt try sides. other meats tasty and sauces much improved! Only downside is boy it's getting priceyyy but I guess it's the new world order. read more

Great BBQ on the South Side! I enjoy the burnt ends, brisket, and turkey. Brussels sprouts are good, bit they can be slightly overcooked, and the spicy ones are a bit much. Fries are delicious. Slaw is average. Hush pups are good dipped in the spicy aioli! Try it all. Can't go wrong. Grab some complimentary pickles while you wait. read more
