Immediately I'm thinking, here we go with the bs. 10mins later the food is ready. As soon as it's in the car I smell dirty grease. Smh! I tried the fish 1st and the dirty grease overwhelmed the flavor, I only took a piece. I moved on to the tips, they were fresh/hot and really good! I then tried the wings, they were seasoned well and were fresh/hot, but again dirty grease ruined what they could've been. I've had them once before so I knew the wings were good, but dirty grease on fried foods is a major no for me! I ordered through Grubhub and received black chicken with hard skin and barbecue sauced matted into it. The young lady said over the phone when I called to address my concern, that they change the cooking oil every morning when they open at 11:00 am. Well they did not do it this time, because I ordered my food around 12:15 pm, so its impossible that the oil was changed and turned black that fast. If the oil was fresh with fresh chicken, it would have been brown colored fresh chicken, not hard and black. I am starting to think that ordering through the online services allow certain restaurants to provide you with terrible food, because they know you're far away and can't bring it back. I was hungry so I started eating the hard chicken only to start getting a severe pain in my side. I did give them another try on Wednesday. I ordered the large tips, 8 wings, and nachos. I didn't try the nachos but everything else was good. Never had Uncle Remus chicken, very tasty. Just a smidgid salty but not enough where I couldn't eat it. I also got a banana pudding that was good. The lady Tracy took my order over the phone, she was very accommodating. The catfish is fire. I'm not much of a fish eater but the seasoning and flavoring of this catfish is phenomenal. They are on point with the ordering process are careful to ensure you get your order. They are down to earth but with southern hospitality and great customer service. The atmosphere, well it's within a bowling alley so you get the feeling of comfort and non-pretentiousness. My friend got a 3 piece & a buttercookie. We did more researched & found out the restaurant was in a bowling alley? Did we just order bowling alley chicken okay. No judgement. But is it remus? Hmm. It arrives after an hour & a half. Chicken tenders, soft, could be crispier but the taste was nice & was pleasantly surprised by the sauce. Ord says 7. and to go on about the fries, THE FRIES! They were soggy & wet & moist! I would have liked it if they were a little bit crunchier. Therefor they have a little bit of a spice to it & tasted like 3 day old cold fries. Me no likey. Me no eaty fries. I would not eat these bowling alley con stand fries ever again. Not even cheese could save these fries . 2/10 . The chicken itself was quite nice, the parts I could eat that is. I made a sandy with the roll, chicken & a tendy. It f*^%ed me up, so tasty. Lots of sauce. 7.2/10 But is it uncle remus!? The buttercookie felt like taking a bite of the beach, it crumbled into my mouth like a warm summers sand, I was tempted to build a sand creation on my tongue. A tongue castle. A butter sand caste. I was tempted to take it out of my mouth & play with it like it was moon sand. But it was buttery & nice. 8/10 on the cookie. The sauce was nice, kinda like a sweet bbq? But very tasty, we were looking for sauce. Was it bowling alley sauce? Rickette's? Uncle remus? I need answers. Ord needs remus. But was overall satisfied . I will never came back this this place again, order 50 wings that did not come with fries. The chicken was fried in old grease. We waited 1 hour and 40 minute. The worst part was speaking with the company represent active, Tracy. She spent the entire time arguing a point that was easily resolve-able after a customer has spend almost $100in her establishment. To add insult to injury, in the midst of the conversation, Tracy blurts out, 'Can you wrap this up because I have a line!' Two points; 1. When in management, you should never cut a customer off when they are engaged in conversation with you. I am a regular league bowler at this place. I have seen a few restaurants come and go at Hillside Bowl and it took a final straw to push me to write this review. I don't even know where to start with this review. From day one until today the customer service has absolutely sucked from the owners wife, Tracy I think is her name. On multiple occasions her nasty attitude has been unacceptable but despite this I kept patronizing them. Out of nowhere today she asks me for an ID to purchase 10 wings with my card, so I ask why, you see me all the time. She proceeds to tell me it's been a lot of fraud. I just chuckled and showed her my ID. My blood was boiling because this woman has given me a hard time since I asked for my employee discount when they first opened. I waited 20 minutes and went back to get my food. I ask if I can have a hot sauce, and instead of her handing it to me she tells me she has to charge me because I've already gotten sauce on my chicken. I said we'll I don't have my wallet so that's okay. At any moment for the sake of retaining a customer and displaying a good gesture of customer service she could have given me a small thing of hotsauce, considering I had just spent $20 on 10 wings. BUT, NOPE. She stayed true to her RUDE self. I have a ton OF RUDE EXPERIENCES I SHOULD HAVE SHARED, but chose not too, but the buck stops here.
