Moved here about a year ago, tried their wings and fried shrimp since both are amazing foods. Completely garbage, shrimp tasted like it was dipped in dawn dish soap and fried. The wings were bad too like the sauce was TOO watery like im eating some soup dipped wings. All for about 40 some dollars and a long wait. Never again did I ever buy from here. The sweet heat boneless strips were mouth watering! Great balance of spice and sweet. Their ranch must be house made and it went so well with the chicken. The guy at the counter was really nice, the ranch dressing was homemade. It did not taste like it came from a bottle. The banana cake was super moist, but they need to add more cream cheese to the frosting because it just tasted like powdered sugar. The wings also did not taste fresh, just no flavor. Schwings was recommended to me from a friend who says he tries to eat there every time he goes to O'hare. Completely worth the drive north on La Grange road. The facility is impeccably clean, the service is great and above all the food is all made in house and is fantastic. Amazing wings and Shrimp. The soups, sides and desserts are great as well. The Banana cake is absolutely a blast from the past and tastes like your grandma made it. If you dine in, people come in and out asking is they've run out of the cake. Came here for stuffed artichokes and pepper & egg sandwiches!!!! The staff was so friendly, informative and ready to answer any questions. I ended up buying just about everything they had!!!! Their soup is phenomenal, the shrimp was fresh and crispy, wings had the best flavor and cooked to perfection!!! The way they make their stuffed artichokes had me wanting more, but lord was I getting full!!!! I ordered the shrimp and I have to say that when the order came out I was a little hesitant because it smelled like grease( you know like they use the fryer to fry multiple foods) and that wasn't appetizing so I let it sit for a minute before deciding ok I'll give it a try. The shrimp is about as good as it gets for being the only place in the area to offer shrimp, but it's not anything to write home about. I tried the garlic Parmesan chicken, 7 pieces for $4.90 & let me tell you ummm ummm Dey sho was good, finga lickin good. Dey was cooked to purrfecshun nice & moist on da inside wit a slight crisp on D outside slathered in garlic & fresh parmesan cheese Umm umm good. While I was saverin dose garlic wings Nicky asking me if I want to try sum of der shrimp. I said shonuf I do. So she has her folks in da back russel me up a few pieces of der fried shrimp. She brought dem to ma table wit a deeelicious soy based dippin sauce wit sum spicy peppers in da sauce and Dey sho was finga lickin good too. I ordered wings last night and they were covered in freaking feathers all five wings were not cleaned and they chose to serve the wings they clearly saw that had tons of feathers in it. Cute woman taking orders. She was very pleasant and personable...I paid for my order with a credit card and she thanked me using my name. I ordered the lemon pepper wings and some catfish. Wings were very good, but different. I could tell they were fried, but I don't think that they were drenched in flour. Lemon pepper flavoring was done right, but next time I will ask for extra. Catfish was very hot and very good. Breading was excellent. Seen some reviews where they talked about the fries being soggy, but mine were crisp, hot and good. Next time I will try the shrimp...if the breading is as good as what is on the fish, I will be happy. Only thing I will say is that they need some rolls with those wings and catfish. read more

I was so disappointed by the food. I had the popcorn shrimp, catfish, chicken strips and fries. The only thing that had any flavor was the chicken strips and I did like the hickory smoked flavor. Everything else was completely unseasoned. The shrimp tasted like whatever body of water they fished it out of. The catfish had no flavor, not even salt and pepper. Shwings is definitely a hidden gem. I highly recommend giving them a chance if you live in the area and haven't been there yet. Their wings are phenomenal. We ordered their buffalo wings, lemon pepper and Cajun. The Cajun has a very good kick, but with intense flavors. I've had very spicy wings from other places, but lacked flavor and tasted horrendous. Not Shwings. The wings also have plenty of meat on them and are very low priced. I do plan on coming here often and trying the rest of their menu to see what else they have to offer. read more

Today I was actually headed to JJ Fish in Bellwood on Mannheim Rd. I read the reviews on Yelp for this place. Most were good. I decided to try for myself. As noted in many reviews, the place was very clean. I ordered ahead for 2pc cat fillet and 5pc all flats lemon pepper wings. I feel like a paid 3 bucks in confinement's alone asking for Hot, Buffalo, Ranch , Tartar. The cat fish filets w/ lemon pepper were good. Although it wasn't better than JJ. The fresh fries were also good and a bit crispy which I like. However, the 5 pc lemon pepper wings were ok until I got to the last 2 pcs. There was so much grease at the bottom I couldn't eat them. The customer service was good though. I wanted to come back with associates from my office to try the shrimp but now I second guess a second visit. Maybe or maybe not. We will see. read more

Tried this place for the first time today and glad I did. Absolutely excellent chicken wings that are flash fried to perfection. I got 10 of them with two sauces (cajun and parmesan garlic). I usually avoid the latter, but gave this place a try looking at past yelp pictures and pleased that I had the courage to go with them. They were the highlight of my meal! Cajun were decent for sure but outshone by parm garlic. Catfish would be next to try on another trip as those look super. Service was fantastic from the owner himself. Every chance I get when I return home, I'm making sure I stop at Shwings. They have the best fried shrimp by far on that side of town. The service is good and quick in terms of receiving your order. Don't sleep on the chicken tortilla soup! If you like spicy soups/food it'll hit the spot. It is now my favorite soup.
