    Gyros Dinner

Super friendly staff and delicious food! This is the best gyros meat I've had and will be craving it! I will definitely be back again. Can't recommend this place enough!

Squabs was a great choice. The choices were so hard to make because everything looked so good and fresh . I went with the chicken breast over rice with the salad. Delicious. My boss had the gyro plate which looked really good as well. They were friendly and quick. The dining room is quiet for a good place to enjoy the meI'd definitely recommend trying them out.

I was craving their potatoes so we stopped in and due to a miscommunication (I tried to order a big enough plate to share with David but he never told me that he hates the chicken here-- he's crazy, it's great) I quickly found myself staring at a grumpy husband. I had ordered the half chicken with just potatoes in the hopes of getting double potatoes and no other accompaniment... but I wound up with chicken that David was convinced was undercooked and a couple of potatoes that he wolfed down. I asked him to go up to the counter and ask if we could pay an up charge and get the bread and salad that would've come with the platter. He went up and George gave it to him without charge or interrogation. "What do you need?" "Tell my daughter what you need." Since David finally came clean that he likes the gyros and the broasted chicken but not the baked chicken, we won't have the miscommunication next time-- and there will be a next time because places like this deserve my business. The chicken was moist with crispy skin and (despite the fact that I ate it as quickly as a dog trying to hide a transgression) really tasty. As always. The dining area is large for a counter service place and the air quality is good. They've even got a slot lounge (completely separate from the dining floor. You'll spend a little bit more (1/2 chicken platter was 17 and change) but don't tell me that you love the USA and then tell me that you aren't willing to support local businesses. I finally got my potatoes, yummmmy.

On the SW corner of Mannheim and Fullerton, this was quite the busy place. A nice, Greek joint vibe with great gyros. Plenty of tables but, they seem to have a big carry-out clientele as well. We had practically perfect timing arriving at 11:10am. My co-worker got the Gyros Sandwich with fries and I ordered the big Gyros Plate (see photo) for $19.84. But, when the cook brought out two, full pans of beautifully, broasted chicken halves (it musta been several dozen!), it made us wish we'd ordered the Greek Chicken. Our other friend with us had the Combo Plate: Two Chicken Kabobs, Gyros with tsaziki, olives and feta on the side. The food came out pretty darn quick, though. At about twenty bucks a plate, there was a lot of food. Soon again, we'll be back to get some of that great, Greek Chicken, for sure.

The food in this place is great. They have a sign outside that says "the best roasted chicken in chicago. Their chicken tastes good. I believe they have some special recipe coz its really good. Been here many times. This time i have tried the gyro dinner and shrimp dinner. It was really good. Would definitly comeback. During meal times, this place will be packed of diners.

I went back to the restaurant after this was said to me by Pete, the manager: "If you decide to dine with us in the future, we'll be sure to make it up to you like we know we can." OK. Here is your chance, Pete. I walk in and ask for Pete. Pete approaches, I introduced myself and shared with him the past review of what had happened. So now, after reading, he asks, "What can make up for this?" I reply,"2 chicken breasts sandwiches. " His response was, "No." Then, he walked away rudely. What was the point of saying, "If you decide to dine with us in the future, we'll be sure to make it up to you like we know we can."??? Then, he lied AGAIN saying the following: "We'd never want you to leave our place disappointed with your food, Jay." Well, I am, 'cause I never received any during my second visit!!! That is just Pete being a phony, twice!!! What a joke, him, and his place is!! (Need to clean the effin' toilets, too!! Just lazy as hell!!!) What was the point of asking "What can make up for this" when you have absolutely no extent to make up for uncooked, dangerous meat??? I think it is ignorant, especially when he abruptly walked away. You have the nerve to fix your mouth and say "...and that's the way Dad wanted it...". Ha!!! He's probably rolling over in his grave!!! Don't eat here and get treated wrong and sick. Go to Yorky's. The food is way better, and they will treat you like a human being.

This is a casual restaurant frequented by many locals. One would order from the counter and then find a table to seat. Looking just at the prepared foods around the counter one could tell that it is a very busy restaurant; not only for dining room patrons but also the amount of takeout orders. So, it was not a surprise that after we ordered and sat down, it took a long time for our foods to come out. In fact, we thought that they forgot our order and had to ask at the counter. In addition, we had to clean the table before we could sit down. As for the food, we ordered a kebab plate and a gyros plate. The aroma of the meats from the kitchen really filled the restaurant. Both our plates were above our expectations. I don't think anyone visiting this restaurant will go home hungry. They piled up the meats like they have endless supply. Not only the amount, they were also flavorful and delicious. If we are catching a flight out of O'Hare and have the extra time, will probably consider this place again.

I love coming to Squabs for lunch. The food is extremely tasty and the service is friendly. The dinner plates are big enough to take half of your order Togo and eat later. My favorite plate is the chicken breast dinner or the chicken kabob which are always marinated/seasoned to perfection. The menu has a lot of variety so there's something for everyone. Unfortunately they serve their plates with plastic utensils so cutting up the food is sometimes a bit of a chore.

I mean one hand on your sandwich and one hand on the barbeque squeeze bottle. You need to squirt the sandwich before each bite... If it is not dripping your not using enough. Give it a try at least once. The fried mushrooms and onion rings were also a favorite when growing up. Now that my husband and I are trying to eat better... We get one meal with coleslaw and fries and one coleslaw with corn and we divide them up so we are not eating too many fries. They have fountain drinks and you fill your own cup. There is plenty of seating. Tbere is a covered indoor patio section and picnic tables out on the grass on the other side of the parking lot too. The bathrooms are cramped but at least they have bathrooms. They have video gaming machines, and lots of televisions with closed captions. They play oldies music loud enough that you don't hear the people at the next tables conversation. The dining room is very relaxing and service is fast and friendly. When you approach the ordering counter, you see the menu on the wall. You place your order and receive a number placque. They give you your drink cups as soon as you place your order and pay. I love that you can fill your own cups (free refills on fountain drinks too) They bring your order to the table. Tbere is a lot of paper waste, there should be a better way to serve the food but this has been working out well for them for many many years! If your planning on visiting Brookfield Zoo it is only about 5 miles from here and a great place to get some dinner and relax afterwards. They have kids meals, booster seats and high chairs. #KidFriendly

So to honor her I thought it would be sweet to bring my mom back here for lunch over the weekend. What a huge disappointment it turned out to be. The restaurant itself is fine I suppose, although you could tell the tables do not get wiped down very often. I'm almost scared to think of what I wiped off of the napkin dispenser. Fair warning to anyone who is not very steady when walking their floors are extremely slanted and there's not a whole lot to hold on to. They do have a warning for part of the dining room but only for part of it, and almost the entire place is slanted. The parking lot is very convoluted especially now that they've added a drive through which eliminated the handicap parking near the door. On a Saturday afternoon they had one food runner And two people at the counter. The prices are fine and pretty on point with what you'll find just about anywhere these days. As you'll see in the pictures the food looks fine, but at best is a six out of 10. Nothing had much flavor, you just taste the grill. At least with my burger, that's all I tasted. The macaroni and cheese at best is Kraft Deluxe and even that tastes better. Their in house barbecue sauce which used to be great, is extremely thin and tastes like watered down Sweet Baby Ray's. There were only three of us and we had to go back to the counter to get the rest of our order after it was partially delivered by the less than apathetic food runner. I dropped my fork and went back to get another one, only to discover that the fork section of the silverware was empty, I explained that to one of the also apathetic girls behind the counter, she asked how many I needed I said I only need one but it's empty at the self-serve counter. She just kind of looked at me like that was not her problem. Honestly the best part of the entire experience was that the breaded mushrooms were delightful. We had a very simple order I got a cheeseburger my father got a pork sandwich and my mother got a beef sandwich. They were both given pork sandwiches. I was not given my side of fries, and as I said only part of our order came out originally. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect three entrees to all be served at the same time. I think after today, we will hold on to the memories of a place we used to go. As I always say it is entirely up to you if you choose to go, I hope you have a better experience.

The main space includes a sink where you can wash up before and after you tackle your food. Three kinds of sauce are featured, and I'd say I favored the sweet Memphis sauce over the zingy Texas and the vinegar-y Carolina sauces, but I suppose that is a matter of personal taste. Buy a bottle of sauce to go if you choose. We went with the Lil Q Platter, which is a "smaller portion" than the Papa Q, but that was fine with us as this includes 5 kinds of meat items and 3 sides if you count the hushpuppies that are yummy corn fritters. We also enjoyed cans of Revolution beers, and cups of ice water. We were very satisfied by the variety of food and the overall portion size of the Lil Q Platter.
