I can't believe they have been around for 4 years and this is my first time there. When we walked in I was concerned that no one was in the restaurant. In their defense it was 4:00 and the evening rush hadn't began. We were greeted by a lovely young lady (Nicki) We decided on 3 sandwiches so we could try a little of everything (or so we thought) 1. Brisket sandwich Amazing! Perfectly cooked, 6 options for BBQ sauces. Just a great sandwich. 2. Pastrami sandwich Spectacular! My personal favorite. If you're looking for a NY style Pastrami, then go to NY. This sandwich was a thick cut Chicago sandwich. Also, not a traditional mustard but a mustard dressing...fine by me because the Pastrami is all that matters. So juicy so flavorful, a fat man's (me) dream 3. Italian beef. I was almost full and picked at the beef...really good too...but I have to say their giardiniera is amazing. My only gripe with the beef was it didn't come out hot, it came out warm...I prefer hot WAIT THERE'S MORE!!! Halfway through our meal Nicki came by to check on us and DROPPED A COUPLE OF PIECES OF SKIRT STEAK on the table for us to try...no seasoning at all not even salt...its was sooooo good that I'm going to get the steak sandwich next time. The ambience is great. Casual and inviting. They have lots of cuts of meat to choose from. Choice and Prime to purchase to take home. I tried their two meat platter, ribs and brisket with a side of coleslaw and tater tot's. The ribs were good, very tasty. The brisket was really good. Both had a nice smoky flavor. The tater tots were delicious. I didn't care for the coleslaw. It was bland. Overall a great place for ribs and brisket. read more

Top Butcher is the best restaurant. Not only in Elmwood Park nor Chicago, probably in the whole world. Everything I've ever had from here in the past three years has been incredible and I think about it a lot. It's one of the last places where you get that community feeling even when you step through the door; wether you're greeted when you walk in or having someone check on you while you eat, the ambiance is unmatched.This is a restaurant that I recommend to people I like because you don't just go to Top Butcher once it becomes part of your routine. Well being a fellow Mason near lodge 1163 recommended this place getting better their meats for cookouts and barbecules. They also have a sit down grill that you order ahead for hamburgers or any other of the American barbecue Fair or grill.it was okay in regards to the beef burger. It wasn't bad but it was at the it was like wow exciting burger. I ordered the mushroom vegetable soup and also it was just average what was unusuals instead of giving you crackers they give you fresh bread crumbs to soak it with. Ask for a beverage I went for the watermelon mint and it was also just subpar are okay I expected the meant to be more distinguished over a watermelon they're going to do such a beverage. Service was very fast and good. Ambience is a mix of a grill and also buying their meat since they're affiliated with a local place across the street I forgot the name international. I would give them a try again maybe further ribs when I'm really hungry but I had a craving for burgers and this was okay but this isn't a place I would go to to trying their burgers or they're soup again. I almost hurt myself eating this food today! My God!!!! This was my 2nd visit here. So I've had a variety of items. On my 1st visit I had a pastrami sammie & the steak sammie. Both good! 2nd visit today is had the pastrami smash burger. STOP WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING AND GO TRY IT!!! This was a game changer. We also ordered the platter with 3 meats bricket/wings/pastrami with tater tots. It was all really good, except for the ribs. But I still rate the food a 5. I'm really happy I found this place. I had the cream of chicken and rice soup and the bacon cheese burger. The soup was ok. The burger is definitely one of the best burgers I ever had. It was so fresh and cooked to perfect. I can't wait to buy some of their fresh meats and try some of their other food. The service was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant itself was pretty cool. Mixed review for Top Butcher Market The good: The Pastrami sandwich here is as close to perfect as you can get. I'm not even much of a pastrami fan and this knocked my socks off. The mayo may have been a bit much but I didn't get the slaw so maybe that would balance it more - as it was, fat on top of fat was a little OTT. The bad: I picked up a tri-tip while I was there and it definitely brought to mind the negative meaning of "butcher". This was VERY poorly butchered - I've had much better butchering from a supermarket let alone a specialty butcher. Poorly cut, poorly trimmed (had to remove some silver skin myself on the non-visible side). Fortunately I'm smoking it so I can work around the issues but I'd be pretty upset if I was roasting it. read more

Had an unreal experience at Top Butcher Market today! Grand Ave in Chicago. Hands down the BEST steak sandwich I've ever had -- and I'm not exaggerating. Thank you for the recommendation fellow foodies, Greg Dantona and Tom Jurek. The TB Steak Sandwich was absolutely ridiculous: perfectly grilled (medium) skirt steak, topped with roasted peppers and a melty blend of mozzarella and provolone, all on a griddled French roll. Pure magic. The service was just as impressive -- Karina personally introduced herself, walked me through their incredible selection of meats, and shared all the menu highlights. You can tell they care deeply about quality and customer experience. If you're a steak lover (or just love great food), you have to check this place out! read more

The staff at Top Butcher Market are always so friendly and inviting when I walk in. This is an actual butcher. Therefore, most of the building is dedicated to that... the front of house how however is super clean, bright, and full of wonderful goodies you can pick up and bring home. When you go here, come hungry and be ready to treat yourself to a meat lovers delight. On this trip, I had the turkey club (see pic below) it was massive and absolutely delicious! This place has been popping up in a group I'm in. This place is a butcher shop that also carries interesting cheeses, prepared foods, etc. The meat in their display case looked very good. It is also part restaurant. I'm checking out their posted pics, noticing everything looked good. There was a pic with some giant King Crab legs. Had to get them for our NYE dinner. The legs were huge, and they were excellent. Some of the best I've ever had. I can only comment on the crab legs, but I will be back to get one of their daily special sandwiches. They looked great. What a find! Was looking for a burger place and found this one with good reviews. It's a small butcher shop + huge sandwich/burger menu. However, you walk in and the ribs smell amazing so getting a burger didn't happen. The ribs and fries were fantastic! The brisket chili tastes great but is very thick and rich so ate a few spoonfuls but will use the rest in a sauce or as a topping. Plus, service was friendly and food came quick. We stopped in after an event at Concordia and this place is the real deal. My son and I each had the chicken sandwich special and it was amazing. When I'm back this way I will absolutely stop in again for a tasty sandwich. I also left with some fresh meat as the butcher selection is very good too. I love their grab and go section, so convenient. The space is fresh and modern, everything is beautifully displayed and the grill in the middle makes it so inviting. We tried the #Steak and the grand opening sandwich of the day, Smoked Beef Brisket. Both were packed with a generous amount of meat and soooo delicious! We loved every bite! Finally tried Top Butcher for dinner recently and it was good! I had a marinated chicken sandwich, which was flavorful and filling. The tater tots are seasoned for a different tot experience. I also tried the meatball sandwich, and it was very good and hearty. I am intrigued by the various specials they advertise and will definitely try more options and updated this review. Holy Smokes!!! I am so glad I searched steak sandwich and ran into this place! I have had a burger at most of the top of everyone's list but I am not sure how this place hasn't made any list!! The sausage was great. I like a little more spice personally than what this offered but it's a straight forward Italian sandwich. Tater tots were perfect. 3 Meat Platter: we got Brisket, pastrami, and chicken wings. Pastrami: Star of the show! Flawlessly done. Nicely seasoned bark with melt in your mouth texture. Do not leave this restaurant without trying the pastrami! Brisket: similar experience to the Pastrami. Wonderfully cooked! Wings: simple, dry rub wings. Cooked to perfection. Wouldn't be my first thing on the list but that's not a slight. The rest of the protein was just so much better! Service: the have a great little meat market and were very attentive. Friendly staff and clean inside. I'll never eat at a place a second time if they have dirty bathrooms. I could eat off that bathrooms floor that's how clean the entire place was. Plenty of seating inside with spices and raw meat for sale. I had a burger that a waitress recommended and a great recommendation it was. I got a cup of brisket chili which was great too. This market/butcher/sandwich shop is truly a hidden gem. They've supplied some of Chicagos best sausage and steak stands for years, now they're kicking out some of Chicagos best sandwiches. We tried almost everything (had a big group)... highlights were one of the best corned beef's anywhere, a killer steak sandwich, and a sausage recipe that goes back 3 generations.
