I came here for a quick lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I wasn't really hungry, but I ate my entire meal! The food was really good, I got the brisket small sandwich and mac&cheese. My partner got the larger brisket sandwich. I think it's cool that they had different barbecue sauces for you to try on your own. The location is small, but it does have a parking lot and seating space. The man taking our order was very kind and seemed to know the menu very well. I ordered carry out - rib tips, steak sandwich, and bbq wings. The Rib Tips were ok. Some of the pieces were tender, while others were dry. BBQ wings were meh, dry and small. The Rib Eye Sandwich, ok to nothing great, meat was ok. This place overall was ok. Wish the rib tips were all tender , it's unfortunate because they were not that bad. I decided to give Earls another chance. The staff here was very friendly and welcoming. I ordered two orders of their Rib Tips. One with fries and another with Mac & cheese. The Mac & cheese was still just ok, but I'm really glad I ordered the rib tips. I usually go to the south side for rib tips but decided to try some up north. Not as good as the ones down son but still not too bad. The Rib tips were cooked almost perfectly, some pieces were overcooked but overall some juicy bites. They do however have some damn good tasting sauces. The Chicago got was the best. The perfect amount of heat for the perfect bite. I can definitely see myself returning more often now. read more

After living in the neighborhood for 2 years I finally made it here. I purchased beef brisket with a side of Mac and cheese, and coleslaw.The brisket was good, the coleslaw had an interesting taste, creamy with a hint of vinegar. It was tasty but wayyyyyy to creamy.. the Mac and cheese was tasty as well. But they put wayyyyyy too much water in it so it was liquidity. The inside was a little shabby and there was a puddle of water on the kitchen floor visible to the customer. Now with that being said. Would I go back again? Ordered rib tips and smoked wings with sides of mac & cheese and collards . Almost no smoke flavor with either meat - sad, not really worth coming back. Tips were pretty mediocre. They could have been cooked more. They were chewy, and had no char. Honestly they could have just been baked for all I know. Wings were OK, juicy and big, but the sauce was way too sweet. Earls never disappoints! Their rib tips are absolutely amazing!!! Best I have tasted in a while! Here is the kicker! I hate Greens (collard, mustard and whatever the other one is) I hate em all! But Earls has this side of greens that once I tasted I ate the whole side!! The beans are great and so is the mac and cheese! I work in the area so I always appreciate a lunch special and they have that! They have seating area both inside and out and they even have a drive thru for the lazy folks! The guy in drive thru was nice however I paid $18 just to spit everything out. Hate to say it. Will not be back, and hope the best for this joint. My friends ordered a platter of rib tips and I felt as if I was cheating on my beloved I-57 (it's a south side thing so don't judge me) with Earl! Those tips were incredibly smokey, tender and season to absolute flippin perfection. Have you ever had rib tips where you didn't need the sauce? Well that was my experience. I was dropping off a delivery for my side gig when I drove past Earl's Drive Thru BBQ. So I decided to park and go into this quaint restaurant with about eight tables and bench like seating there's even outdoor seating. As I walked in, I was greeted with a hearty "Hello!" from the guy behind the counter. As I went over the menu, I noticed they had rib tips, which is extremely hard to find on the north side of Chicago so I ordered the rib tip lunch special with one side included I chose mac and cheese. The rib tips were meaty and I like that they have four sauces you can try. My favorite was Chicago Heat, followed by the Carolina. The mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. You know they are good because you can eat them without sauce but once you taste their sauce, OMG, you will want to pour over everything. The meat is tender and fall off the bone. This place surprisingly impressed me. I can't tell you how many times I drove past wondering how the food tasted. The food still tasted fresh even though we ordered from Uber Eats. 2 item platter: For my platter, I chose rib tips and brisket and mac n cheese as my side. Portion sizes were pretty good and they give you alot of meat. I don't really crave bbq that much but this was so enjoyable to eat. Brisket is my favorite bbq item and the brisket here was so so tender and soft and full of flavor. They also give you alot of pickles and a side of bread that I didn't really care for. We were so disappointed with the food from Earls barbecue. This is the second time that I have ordered from Earl's I ordered full slab of bbq baby back ribs and my friend ordered small tips. My friend said that the tips were "all right "! My ribs were dry and tough to eat. I could only eat a few ribs, and then gave up! It was hard to chew and swallow the food! We both wondered how does this restaurant heat up the food, as we had ordered when Earls BBQ opened at 11 AM. Nonetheless, 3/4 slab of inedible baby back ribs were tossed into the garbage!!! Having lived around the corner almost a year now, I'm surprised it took me so long to visit. Im glad I did! The inside is pretty small but has plenty of seating and quite a bit of outdoor seating if the weather allows. The service was decent with quick order taking and a tray of food delivered to the table. The food was great with the rib tips being well seasoned and having nice smoke rings. The mac and cheese was a great side as well as the collard greens and complimented with their various bbq sauces made for a great meal. Add a rare Cheerwine and what's not too love? Great sandwich option if you want quality rather than typical fast food joints and the speed and convenience of a fast food drive thru with healthier options I got a brisket sandwich yum yum yum it was so delicious it didn't need sauce but I did have some on the side but the sandwich on its own with the nice bun soft and doesn't fall apart. We bought pulled pork and brisket by the pound and brought it home. It was good, moist and not that fatty. The sauce is quite good too.

This food used to taste AMAZING . I believe there are new cooks. The food is mid and the ribs are NOT tender. They do not fall off the bone.

Was hankering for ribs and decided on the NW BBQ joint Earl's. For half slab, it comes with white bread, a side which I opted for coleslaw and your choice of extra BBQ sauce. Like any BBQ joint, sauce is where it's at! I really liked all their sauces, but it does tend to veer on the sweet side. Even the Carolina, which tasted like apple cider vinegar, still had a tomatoey, thicker sauce. Ribs are baby backs, so they tend to be more delicate, would have preferred St. Louis cuts, are nice and smoky. It was bit drier than I would have liked, but with the sauces, manageable. I tried a piece of the brisket which was quite nice. My friend who went with the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich was ok. The smoked corn was great - comes with a cheesy topping. Earl's is a small place with a good amount of parking. There is a drive in window, but at the time, only one person manning the checkout so didn't get to use it on my visit to pick up my online order. read more

Good lil spot in Jefferson Park! Located way North but I was in the area & checked my Yelp bookmarks for recommendations. We decided to stop at Earl's as I had saved it before & noticed the place pretty empty for a Saturday night. I saved it due to a fellow yelper posting his visit for the Rib Eye steak sandwich which looked so appealing. I went with the Rib Eye & wifey chose a 3 choice platter($30) of Bbq for us to share. We went with Salmon, Ribs, & Brisket along with two sides of Mac n cheez & Roasted corn. The smoked salmon was surprisingly delicious & the brisket was also good. The ribs were a little dry & disappointing. The star of the show though was definitely the Rib Eye sandwich. It reminded me of a Mexican style sandwich called a torta. It was delicious with all the toppings(minus the pepperoncini) and they give you an avocado salsa along with it. It also came with a side of fries for $15. Apparently they also make their own donuts in house & I regret not trying them. Oh well, I guess I'll haft make another trip! read more

Hubby wanted rib tips and our usual barbecue place doesn't carry them. Not sure how he learned about Earl's, but he asked if I wanted to try them. So off he went to the restaurant for carry out, which is about a half hour from our house. He brought home rib tips and fries for himself, a Caesar salad to share, and brisket sandwiches with baked beans and Mac & cheese for our daughter and me. (We love brisket.) The rib tips were tasty, although not as tender as we like them. The brisket was also very tasty, but there was quite a bit of fat on our slices, despite my husband asking for lean cuts of meat for us. They were generous portions of meat though. I could not finish my sandwich. (And it seemed better the next day.) The beans were good but the Mac & cheese did not wow me. Reminded me of Kraft with slightly better cheese and bread crumbs on top, but not overly creamy or rich. Just average. The salad was a hit with all of us. He added grilled chicken which was really good. They have a variety of barbecue sauces; hubby selected Carolina and Georgia for us and we liked them. He recommended 3 stars for our first time; I am being generous with 4 stars. They have a good menu and we would be willing to try them again. read more

2nd time here. It is a low key bbq joint. Just a few tables inside and a few outside; order at the counter type place but the bbq is outstanding. We had the 3 meat combo platter- good servings. Tried the brisket, Pulled pork and sausage. Probably one of the best pulled pork I have ever had. Brisket was a little fatty but it didn't matter because it was so tender and delicious. Received a call that the cherry shake wasn't available which I asked to be refunded, then when my order was delivered it didn't have the chicken tenders. Called the restaurant and they were adamant that they put it in the bag and all they could give me is a store credit. My kids dinner wasn't delivered. Even my brisket sandwich was missing the sauce we chose.
