I've gone here a few times for a quick bite, and it definitely does not disappoint. I got the gyro sandwich, and it was very tasty; I only didn't like how overwhelming and messy the garlic sauce was, but it was still pretty good. The fries are golden, crispy, and salted to perfection! I got a Diet Pepsi, and it tasted a little flat; it was probably just the machine but no big deal! The service was great, and I like how they have a drive through as well. The cashier was very friendly and made sure how we wanted our sandwiches. The ambiance was packed with food decor, and I liked how they have a lot of seating inside and outside. There's a parking lot as well if you're trying to dine-in. read more

I'll make this quick: food was mediocre, even though I was starving. Typically, when I'm really hungry the food is more satisfying, but it was just ok: middle of the road. What it WAS though, was EXPENSIVE. Me and my wife were hungry, late, one night. Went through the drive thru, ordered, paid at the window, and waited for the food. When it was time for the food, I was handed a bad and 1 drink. I asked about the other drink and that's when they realize they gave me the incorrect order. That was no problem, mistakes happen. The problem was the extra time i had to wait and the adjustment in price. A mistake is a mistake but there are ways to make it right. We waited twice as long to get our food and then when it came they opened the window and told me there was an adjusted price (more than what I paid originally.) Overall, this place just wasn't worth the hassle. I'd skip it. read more

Long day so decided to stop at The Dog Stop! I went there during my college days long ago. Since moved far away ... My sister got an egg pepper sandwich as did I plus a tamale ! Bad first experience. We've lived around the area and always passed by the place and finally said, why not and try it out since it's close by. Ordered a small order. Waited 18 mins wondering what is taking so long. There was really no other customers inside or at the drive thru. We asked what's taking so long and they asked 'what did you order?' I don't know what they do, but this is my favorite grilled chicken in the city, hands down. I get it plain because I'm one of those anti mayo/ranch people & if the sauce is white I just can't get past thinking it's mayo. Anyway, their grilled chicken is super fire & it's not messy, they wrap it up nice each time. Greek salad & garden salads are great too. I'm on a GLP-1 & barely anything is appealing to me these days, but I could eat their grilled chicken daily & not get tired of it. I usually ask for a couple of the V&O house dressings & use that as sauce. I actually don't know if it's grilled over coal or a flat top to be honest, but it's always consistently delicious. Staff is very friendly. Haven't been inside but looks like your typical Vienna Beef/Kronos place you see in Chicago, & it appears clean. Haven't tried anything else on the menu, but good grilled chicken open late is hard to find in Chicago so this is my go to spot when I'm working up north. read more

The dog stop is a great local hot dog joint that serves your typical hot dogs and beefs. I was craving both so I ordered one of each. My son ordered their chili cheese dog. The dog was great. They use a poppy seed bun, and then your regular fixings. The dog itself had a nice snap to it and they used fresh pickles and tomato wedges. You also get fries with your hot dog. Just regular frozen fries, nothing special. I ordered their beef dipped and with hot peppers. A decent sized sandwich and loaded with beef. The meat was seasoned well and it came with plenty of peppers. The bread didn't hold up and broke half way through but it was still a decent Italian beef. Pretty good neighborhood joint as far as the selection. They have your typical burgers, hot dogs, gyros, sandwiches, etc, along with some innovative items like the fry plate and pita sandwiches. I wasnt really feeling too hungry when i came but wanted to try something different. The ham and cheese sandwich on garlic bread seemed interesting so i went with that. I probably wouldnt get it again as the garlic bread was a little too saturated with butter and made it a little soggy. So kinda made me feel like i was eating a ham and cheese and butter sandwich. Yuck. I shared some of my husband's fry plate. It sounded fascinating on paper, as it was a plate full of gyro meet, ground beef and some other things on a bed of fries with sauce. Similar to poutin. But when we got our food, it was nothing too fancy. It literally waa gyro meat, ground beef, and fries all mixed together with some bbq sauce. It wasnt terrible, but again, we were expecting something more. Next time I come, i will probably not be too adventurous and stick with the standard items such as a cheeseburger, hotdog, fries etc. The place inside was nice - plenty of tables to sit and enjoy your meal. The more I visit here, the more I realize I think I was underrating this place in the past. Not sure why, but oddly I did. That all said, their dogs of the month usually can be pretty decent. Such as the one for January 2022. I forget the name of it, but it's one with pork, bacon, and onions in it. I didn't think it would be anywhere near as good as it was, but it really was! I'll actually be slightly sad when January ends and that one disappears from their menu, but I'm sure their next monthly dog will be good as well. To me this isn't my favorite ever hot dog stand in Chicago, but it isn't too bad if you ask me. And I like the fact that for this area(when few places are ever open late), that they do have late night hours. Which post-COVID is till 1am every day, though I miss when they used to close at 2am on certain days. Their tuna melt isn't too bad, either. I think if it wasn't for their monthly dogs being good, I'd only give 3 stars. And the place to me was kinda like a 3.5 star, in my book. Since in some ways I wish certain things were slightly better, such as their fries. That said they do have some surprisingly good monthly dogs at times here, so I'll round up to 4 stars. We went in the morning to get some dog stop and honestly the best the burgers were not soggy, you could tell they were just made & the onion rings as well. I don't know what happened to this place. It has been solid for 10+ years. Sadly the past 4 times I have been there it has been just bad. I know covid and all, so I am hoping this is only a passing phase. They used to have one of the best gyros in the area. I am guessing they cut the quality of the meats they are ordering to save money but man you can tell. Also a few small things I don't like, they have Pepsi, not coke. I know Pepsi has been aggressively making themselves cheaper for lots of restaurants. It does not matter, if you are going for too sweet cola, get RC and really save. Sadly I see this everywhere, note that when a restaurant makes this change they typically don't charge the customer any less. Also while I get having TVs, just put sports on or local news. I don't need to hear political battles when I am trying to get my lunch. If this is new owners I hope they read yelp, go back to what ever supplier gave them the better quality food, give their employees a raise and just raise the cost of the food. I have gone passed the dog stop for a long time. Before i discovered Yelp I ate here once. The hot dogs were spot on. I wanted to try a different location for an Italian Beef, the dog stop didn't disappoint. Freshly made along with the trimmings of hot peppers. One of the best beefs I ever had. I love the fries. They are spot on. Clean location. Friendly staff. The food goes without saying. You can't go wrong with any selection. The food here is good but it is not amazing. Every time we have eaten here we have gotten everything we have expected and nothing more. We usually hit this place up for a Gyro...the Gryro's are good. And when I say good they are what we have come to expect from a Chicago fast food place...Pita...pressed meat...onions...tomatoes and sauce! At this moment, life can not get any better then this!!! But it does not stop my world...I do not go out of my way to come here. I am not impressed with the fries...I wish they were better...this place does treat the fries like a throw away. The only reason im giving it a two star instead of one is because the manager actually seemed like she cared to listen to what i had to say about the gyros i purchased. I purchased the grilled chicken sandwich meal. asked for a bottle of water instead of the pop and he still charged me for it even though i never took the soft drink... i love their chicken sandwich even though it was a little sloppy but delicious garlic sauce.
