But when we got there, it looked divey, so I said, you know what, let's see! We grabbed a high-top table, but listen: seating is limited, okay? Don't come in there thinking you finna have a whole big, huge party! It is a small space, but we were able to secure our seats, watch the cooks do their thing, and order our food. Everything came out relatively quickly. The whole place has a fun vibe. Pictures on the ceiling, bright colors. Of course, the name Devil Dawgs made me think about the Marine Corps. If you know, you know! I had the Dragonfruit Shake, and oh my goodness. My husband had the Maxwell Street Polish, which I absolutely loved seeing because I grew up eating them. I used to get mine off 95th & Dan Ryan.. so that brought back some memories. And Hubs tore that thing down! Now, my hot dog? Listen, the picture is diabolical, okay? But it was EV-ER-Y-THING! I need to sound it out phonetically because it was literally everything, okay?! It was loaded, messy, and doing exactly what it needed to do. And listen, I am perfectly fine with a messy dog as long as it is good, and it absolutely was! The food came out quick, fast, and in a hurry. You won't be sitting around waiting forever. This place has a fun, nostalgic vibe that reminds me of neighborhood hot dog stands from the '80s. An absolute hazard to eat and easily the best thing I had here. Onion Rings (1/5): The batter on the onion rings were ridiculously sweet to the point it almost tasted like funnel cake batter. Not sure if it's normally that texture, but definitely a miss. Devil Dawg (4/5): Bun and toppings are pretty much standard issue down the board, but the actual hot dog is a much nicer quality than at other spots around the city with a good snap. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed it was full of people and upbeat music was playing. I was immediately drawn to their digital menu board. After seeing their vegan options, I was happy to see that they offer vegan hot dogs made two ways but sad that their fries and tater tots are cooked in beef tallow, and surprised that the hot dogs were $7.00 which might be too expensive for some people. (Feb 2026) We were lucky during early afternoon on a Saturday (Feb 2026) to get in before a mid-afternoon rush. We got our orders in at the register, and only had a few minutes wait. The dogs are Official Vienna Beef, of course. They use the longer narrower dogs, not the plumper ones. The toppings are traditional: genuine sport peppers, genuine neon relish, dill pickle spears, chopped onions, fresh tomatoes, celery salt. It's a great bright tart juicy savory combination of crunchy flavors. Note: The buns had no poppy seeds. The fries were hot and tender and added rich flavors. Devil Dawgs has a great divey look. After Chicago architecture boat tour and before seeing the White Sox, I met up with my friend who arrived a day later than I did. Devil Dawgs has a wide variety of hot dogs with various flavors. For me, I generally eat hot dogs plain. I don't like ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, etc. I do like a chili dog with or without cheese. Restaurant was a bit of a dive, but the hot dog was good. I messed up on the order as none of the hot dogs were exactly what I wanted, but I realized I messed up on the order. They didn't refund; so I just bought another hot dog that I had intended on getting. I ate the one I messed up on, but I enjoyed in spite of having to pick off onions or whatever was the case. As i was walking around chicago i noticed that uber eats had a deal for devil dawgs and since it was my last day in town i decided i couldnt leave without having a chicago dog. To be honest im not a big fan of chicago dogs for one specific reason, they just get too soggy with all the toppings. When you combine the mustard, relish, tomato, pickle spear, and the peppers, there is just too much liquid so the dog is just hard to eat to get that perfect bite. More often than not, your kind of just picking off the toppings and eating them separately as they fall off. Overall i thought the glizzy was good as it had a good snap and i like the fact that it has some char on it as well as it give it a good smokey flavor. I also order some chicken tenders and fries with the spicy house sauce which i though was really good. Tenders came out hot and fresh, the fries were ok, a little greasy and not very crispy so i wouldnt recommend then but it did go well with everything else as you kinda of need that balance when having the tenders. I got a Chicago dog to see how their classic is, but then I also got a blue demon dawg (no onions on either, sorry not my vibe). The Chicago dog was good, what you'd expect, but probably not my favorite place for a classic Chicago style hot dog. However, the blue demon dawg was so good!!
