Went to grab Chicago-style hot dogs (or "dawgs"). Small-ish spot with only a few tables inside, open late, but not as late as I would prefer (but not part of the review). Service was okay; not overly friendly, but no frills and straightforward. Wait time for our order was decent enough, and it wasn't crowded at all when we were there. The hot dogs are solid; the standard hot dogs are my choice, while my wife preferred the devil dawgs that has a little bit of spice to it. I like the cut on the fries, but they were a tad soggy and could use a little bit more seasoning. The tots hit the spot. Overall, 3 stars feels about right, but disappointed we weren't able to go back to try the Italian beef and their burger. read more

5/5 for the amazing hotdog joint! We ordered the Chicago Dog and bag o fries with cheese sauce. The fries were insanely good! The dog was delicious. We really enjoyed the food! Husband's Chicago dog (left) was ok but my Bulldawg (right) and the onion rings with awesome sauce (BBQ + ranch) were AMAZING! The Bulldawg and onion rings with awesome sauce were worth the trip from Kansas! The dine in space was pretty small with less than 10 tables, but at least it wasn't like many restaurants where there are 10 open tables but all of them are gross. The service was quick and had our food in no time! read more

Was told to come here for a Chicago hot dog experience. Was really good! I just ended up liking the milkshake more than the hotdog. Don't get me wrong. I finished it because I love sauerkraut, but I just felt like it was just a good hotdog. Nothing spectacular. The milkshake on the other hand was phenomenal, caramel, with chunks of blended up pretzel, it was super delicious. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, and there was a handful of tables to sit at to enjoy your food. I would specifically come back for the milkshake, and then the hotdog would be an afterthought. No shade tho. Still a solid place for a meal. read more

This place is a gem. I absolutely loved the sliders and the chili dogs. I stayed in chicago for 2 nights and had to get food from here two times! If you order Uber Eats, they have a double slider burger as buy one get one. Great deal! I did have the Elvis slider just to try it. I do not recommend it, but it is a good novelty burger, but not one I would ever try again! It was an experience! The shakes and malts are outstanding as well. Great spot! And get the cheese curds! read more

Amazing! We had the big Chicago, bulldawg, and bacon cheddar. We wish the cheese was more melty but it was still great.. The standout was definitely the bulldawg, with the crispy batter! It was a pleasant crunchy surprise with so much flavor. We also had a chocolate shake which was thick and yummy. It's a pretty big one, good for sharing. There's a good variety but not as many dog styles as some others. But they do have burgers, chicken and sides which some other places don't. The inside was typical for area hot dog restaurants. There's not a lot of seating but people don't stay too long. Ordering was easy at the front with computers but someone always greets you as you walk in. Chicago, IL - our conference didn't feed us lunch so we needed to find something quick and easy. The vegan Chicago dog was perfect! I was surprised at how meaty it seemed. I added a pumpkin shake (definitely not vegan) with whip cream and sprinkles in top. Soooo tasty! It's a limited time flavor so grab one now. Service counter was quick and efficient. There's not a lot of seating available. The only disconcerting thing was the brilliant green of the relish. Somehow that just did not seem natural to me. Tasted great though so no complaints here. Would definitely return when next in town. In fact, when I showed my handsome husband a photo of my Chicago dog he insisted that next time we are in town we stop here straight away! read more

I order a big Chicago dog and it was decent. It was a bit too salty but I enjoyed the toppings. The place was a little crowded and may explain why the floor was dirty with food etc. For a 1st timer, I guess it was ok... I had nothing to compare it to. Opening thoughts? Eclectic artwork and lively! Devil Dawgs was the first Chicago dog on our food crawl. Chicago dogs were a 6.5/10: these were the first Chicago dogs I've had, so I had no comparison. Overall good, but room for improvement! I think the biggest thing for me was the moistness. It was bordering soggy :( Fries were a 8/10: this may be a hot take but their fries were dry (if you've had in n out, their fries are the best comparison) and very lightly salted... just how I like it! Not the most crispy, but I didn't mind. Joe's tea was a 8/10: nice and sweet your average bottle of Arnold palmer To sum it all up, devil dawgs is a good start, but I personally think there are better Chicago dogs around town. They say hindsight is 20/20, so I think I made a mistake...I kinda wish I tried their chicken sandwich according to these yelp reviews! Who would've thought?! Ordering a chicky sando at the hot dog shop? Will need to come back and investigate at a later date! read more

Coming to Devil Dawgz is mine and my family's tradition! Heard about their milkshakes on a college tour, tried it and sure enough, milkshakes are AMAZING! Huge one size, lots of fun flavors. The last time I went I finally ordered food to try, and they had an order cancelled that they offered as well. So I can accurately say I've tried a ton of different things and it's all good. I was exploring the city one night and decided to stop into Devil Dawgs for a quick bite. While there, I ordered a Chicago dog with a cherry wine and it was pretty decent. The hot dog was pretty simply, almost tasted like it was boiled. What really made the hot dog is the toppings. It was LOADED! A dill pickle, tomato, relish, and a few other things. Kind of a dive-y spot, but fast service and a pretty good vegan dawg! If I had to guess I think they use Field Roast. Toppings for the Chicago dawg were fresh and abundant. Went here after Lollapalooza for a late night eat as I wanted my husband to try a Chicago dog before we left the city. I thought all the things would make it weird but it was actually quite good! I liked all the pickles. The bag of fries with awesome sauce were so good as well. The line was long but once you put your order in, the food is ready super fast. My friend and I opted for here because it was the shortest line of the late night food options and relatively close to Lollapalooza. We waited around 20 minutes in line and waited only for a few minutes for our food to be ready. We got: Polish dog (3/5) -- the skin on this was super thick and hard to bite through, the flavor of the hot dog didn't do much for me...the peppers and onions carried the dish Chicago dog (3/5) -- it was kind of soggy, cold, and a little too acidic for my liking...the sport peppers were also very potent Bag o' fries (2/5) -- soggy, limp fries that didn't have any seasoning Only when we were waiting for our order did I read that this place is more renowned for its burgers and immediately regretted my decision. Still, I'm not sure how much better the burgers are than their hot dogs and fries. read more

What's one of the things you do when you come to Chicago? You seek the best Chicago dog, of course! This is a long way around the bun (haha) but Devil Dawgs was the BEST dog we had this weekend! We tried one from an unnamed location, they were out of pickles, so - kinda' doesn't count. We tried another (from another unnamed location - after we ate here, in order to have something to compare this to) and it fell short. Devild Dawgs knows how to make a Chicago Dog right(eously!) The perfect amount of crisp picklem peppery heat, and celery salt - all that yummy goodness that makes a dog a la Chicago - enrobed in a poppy seed bun! Yes, PLEASE!!!! My husband and I (who are not Chicagoans) tried to make these at home, and they are no where near as good as Devil Dawgs! Hands down the best CD I've ever had!!! (and I've tried a lot!) read more

Definitely one of our go to late night meals. I love that all them can come vegetarian, the its not a corn dog is my absolute fave. The veggie burger with cheese is also so so good. My husband loves the icelandic and its not a corn dog as well as their spicy chicken sandwich. The fries and onion rings are ok, but the cheese curds and tots are delicious. If you're feeling like a sweet treat, their milkshakes are huge and delicious, you really can't go wrong with any of them. Go check out for your next late night meal! read more

Chicago is known for their Chicago Dogs, so I had to give this place a try. Note: credit card/cashless only and no public restroom Food Quality: 5/5 My Big Chicago Dawg was snappy like I was hoping for. The green relish is something to see. Also, the onion rings were super fresh and tasted like they hand battered them which is a huge plus in my book. The Devil Sauce, which was a spicy mayo, was not too spicy. I'd definitely eat everything again. Atmosphere: 3/5 The seating is limited in this narrow resturant. The plexiglass near the ordering area gave me COVID flashbacks. I totally walked right past the kiosk near the front of the resturant, otherwise I would have ordered there. Service: 4/5 The guy that took my order was fine and my food was prepared quickly. Nothing over the top but I can't complain. Value: 4/5 $16.20 for a hot dog and onion rings isn't cheap but it felt relatively fair for the quality of the dog. This was a hang loose place. We had 2 Chicago dogs, a slider, and some fries. 3 stars is generous. The fries were soggy to point of limp, the slider and dogs were VERY messy. Maybe that is part of the "charm" of eating the food. The slider was very greasy as well. read more

Pickle added a nice crunch. Can't beat LA Hot Dogs. Better than a Costco Hot Dog though! Icelandic dawg: 5/5 One of the few Hot Dogs I have ever liked was from Iceland. The food was amazing. The look of the place was so cool. And the service was quick, efficient, and excellent. California needs one of these places!! I got the Icelandic Dawg and it was so freaking good. Crispy shallots on a dog with ketchup and honey mustard with onions was a combo I didn't know I needed. I really liked the different concoctions they had here with the hot dogs. Unfortunately, some ingredients worked and some were mediocre. The menu has a variety of items, such as your standard hot dogs, burgers, fried chicken, shakes, tater tots, French fries, etc. The bag of onion rings with sauce were tasty. The bulldawg had interesting ingredients when reading the menu but it works. It had a lot of flavor and it was a great size. I usually don't eat too many deep fried items but this one mixed with the chili, cheese, coleslaw, grilled onions, and bbq sauce was amazing. I tried other limited items and some were okay and not great. Good service. Ample seating. Prices were standard for the area. read more

After trying several other Chicago dog spots, I have to admit devil dawgs has shown to be better than some others. Service was quick and it was around $5 or so. The bun itself was not soggy which is quite important! Stuffed with all its toppings, the peppers had a nice bite! I was looking forward to trying Devil Dawgs for their Chicago hot dog and Maxwell Street Polish. This place was such a disappointment. The day before, I had a polish and hot dog from the hotdog stand at Grant Park and the day before that I had a hot dog and polish from Wrigley Field (yes, it's been years since I've been to Chicago and I missed the hot dogs and polish). The food at the hot dog stand and Wrigley Field made Devil Dawgs taste like crap. The polish was extremely tough, the hot dog reminded me of Oscar Meyer, I threw it away, and they didn't even use the poppy seed buns. The restaurant is cashless and uses only kiosks to order. I had no idea, so I stood at the counter for a couple of minutes waiting to be helped, until I finally noticed the sign on printer paper. Not everyone is local and knows to look for the kiosk. read more
