Cute little hole-in-the-wall spot just a few blocks from Willis Tower. I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and it had exactly the chill, laid-back vibe I was looking for. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I got the Burrito con Huevos with arrachera steak, and it was incredible. I'm a sucker for a good breakfast burrito, and this one was a solid size, packed with flavor, and honestly stacks up with some of the best I can remember having. The steak especially stood out--super juicy, tender, and actually well cooked. None of that dry, chewy Chipotle steak nonsense Great food, great people, and a relaxed atmosphere. Small counter-service breakfast spot with big 1-lb burritos, a couple of other breakfast options, + some great looking burgers & tater tots I came here with a group of friends and we were immediately greeted by the host. They handled all of our orders very quickly. I tried a breakfast burrito and one of their specialty brown-sugar iced coffees. This place was next to my hotel so easily I had to give them a try for breakfast. I got the pork sausage egg and cheese sandwich, the tots and the hibiscus drink. The tots were a little on the salty aide but the sandwich and drink helped to balance it out. The lady at the register was very friendly and welcoming. Good amount of seating too. read more

Great tasty food and nice location. I've seen this location change over the years from different restaurants yet I think this place will be a good mainstay. There is nice seating inside and great service. The ahuevo is tasty. I also learned this exists, cafe de chata. It is coffee mixed with horchata and taste really great. We need to open one up in the Triad! Great place for a quick breakfast bite. And you MUST try the cafe de olla, which is brewed coffee with cinnamon and sugar. I believe it's best taken black - no creamer with this delite. I ordered the sausage egg and cheese sandwich. The place is small, not recommended for large groups. It's such an interesting location, but I hope they do well because the cheeseburger was amazing! I got the single stack and added slices of avocado and jalapeños, and it was such a great combination and it wasn't greasy at all. I didn't feel over stuffed but just the right amount of full for me. I have to admit I also got the onion rings that were recommended by a girl taking the order, and I am not mad about it at all. Seriously some of the best onion rings I've had. So when you wipe into them, it's not stringy. It's like a different crispiness that almost feels like an onion potato chip. OK OK so to top it off I also did have a Horchata that was also delicious. I know I was trying to lay low on red meat, but it wasn't a lot and this was just right and completely worth it. I do hope others come here and keep this place around. read more

I've gotten take out from Ahuevo's South West Loop location twice now and each time has been really good! Decor is cute and egg themed. Service is fast and has taken about 10 minutes and the staff had made it easy to carry out by somehow putting the drink in the bag. First time I went I got the puffy tots con huevos. The tater tots really are the start to me. Perfectly crisped and salted. The sriracha mayo, fluffy egg, and green onions are a great compliments to the tots. I also got the cafe con horchata which was really good and the sweet level was just right to me (but I do like sweet coffee). Second time here I got the turkey, egg, and cheese and regular puffy tots it was just as good. Got the cafe con ollo, an iced coffee with cinnamon and brown sugar - less sweet than the cafe con chata but still really good mix of flavors and not bitter at all. Overall great experience. The portions are large and I saved some for the next day but you could easily split the box of tots between two people. My only wish might be if they could create some combos for the menu. As is you have to buy each item separately. Either way, I'll visit again for sure! read more

I highly recommend it. Their Cafe con chata brings a new way to enjoy coffee by mixing it with horchata. For the ahuevo breakfast sandwich, the egg was cooked to perfection. The toppings really came together to bring a flavorful profile. We were able to talk to the owner himself and you can really tell that he cares about costumer satisfaction and the quality of the food. The double smash burger with everything was unreal -- crispy, juicy, and the flavors made it truly the best smash burger I've had in Chicago. The breakfast burrito with vegan chorizo was delicious, especially with their green salsa. The BLT was simple but good. The tater tots were absolutely amazing, perfectly crispy and soft inside addictive. The Horchata was honestly the best I've ever had.
