Never had a Chicago style hot dog before and that was something on my Chicago bucket list during my recent trip. No idea how this compares to other places in the city but the one I got here was everything I hoped for and more. Top tier hot dog. Even if the bun was split in two and the whole thing was falling apart. My son got a cheese slider and we each got a drink and shared a small bag of fries. All together the total came to $26.05. It was incredibly crowded; it was hard to squeeze into the shop to order. But once we did, the food came out relatively quickly and we were lucky to get a table outside in the shade where it was quite pleasant. Just a block off of Michigan Avenue so easy to get to. I wanted to love this place. I really did. The hot dog looked beautiful. The fries smelled promising. Hope was alive. Then tragedy struck. I asked for extra sport peppers... and they never made it into the bag. The peppers that did survive then launched itself onto the ground after my first bite, never to be seen again. A lone pepper remained. A true Chicago casualty. I ordered ahead for pickup at 12:15, and while it was ready on time, I think it had been sitting for a bit because everything was cold by the time I got back. The fries had good flavor but had sadly crossed over into soggy territory. The sauces were tasty (and generously portioned), but paying $1 each bruised my sauce-loving heart just a little. One thing that genuinely surprised me was the seating. The inside is tiny, and almost all of the seating is outdoors. It had me wondering... what exactly happens here in a Chicago January? This hotdog place is a stand inside a building leading up to Navy Pier. We tried the local famous chicago hot dog. It was decent, and fast. We had no issues and it checked out box to try the chicago hot dawg. It happened to be a time in my diet when I wasn't able to eat seeds. Glad to finally lay hands on a Chicago style vegan dog. The bread was super soft, vegan dog was amazingly juicy and packed 20g protein.
