Best Gyros on Harlem avenue hands down my family has been coming here for decades and it never disappoints

Just ordered from Franksville on Addison/Harlem. I was surprised to have food that was greasy. Ordered a Super Taco and a Polish. The Polish came with all the trimmings as usual but 6 sport peppers even for me was overkill. Then the Super taco was greasy and fell apart because of being greasy. Im just wondering since the passing of the one owner or manager cant come up with his name. Also there was a catering van from a place on the Southside. Im just wonderimg if they sold out to other people and they have plans to add it the list of 4 dozen other taco places within 5 mile radius of Franksville. read more

Today I finally made it to Franksville, and was happy I did. As you drive around Chicago area you often see this style of building, learning that this was once a local hot dog chain. I had a gyro fries and a drink which was a great value. The gyro was delicious and the right mix of meat/sauce/white onions. Give this place a try you will not be disappointed! read more

I always love their chicken because it was never dry. Until today. The Sysco about sandwich chicken was dry and the pizza was overcooked so it was hard. I don't know what happened, but their food was always so good. read more

For years I wanted to try this place, and I finally did. Came here after a visit to The HIP. Actually, I liked it so much I came back the following week. The people who work here are very kind and the location is very clean. My food was very tasty. I will definitely be back again when I am in the area. I stopped in because of the cute sign. As I walked in, the place was clean, and I loved the vibe. A little train on the signage inside the place I see why they have been in business for 60 years. I could tell the staff really got alone joking and laughing. I ordered the 2 hot dog special and it didn't disappoint. The hot dog was beefy in flavor with all the topping fresh and crisp. Lower end fast food type. If you're in a pinch to get something quick sure. If you are wanting something decent I do not recommend. Had the "Cajun" chicken sandwich. Meh. And the bbq sauce was not good. Don't carry Cajun or bbq sauce if you're not gonna do it right. Place is kinda trashy too. read more

This was my first time here. We ordered their superburger and Grecian chicken breast dinner. I asked for everything on the hamburger. It had no flavor it was dry. Their Grecian chicken breast dinner was nasty. It was dry we couldn't finish any of it. The only thing I would say was somewhat decent was the fries. I dont recommend. If you want a good chicken dinner go to Mr. Z's or a better burger go to Luke's. read more

I've been coming here for years but the quality has been declining. I purchased a gyro plate amongst other things for the family and the gyro meat was not like over the years. It was very thin and crispy. This has been the 3rd time this year with this quality. read more

It's not as easy as you'd think finding good gyros in Chicago. For one thing, there's multiple vendors for the meat, and some of them are pretty bland. This place has the good stuff, AND gives you two ramekins of tzatziki sauce instead of just one. Both the gyro and the fries in the takeout order were hot and freshly made. I don't get out this way much, but when I do I try to get by Franksville. read more

Got the chili dog and it was not a lot good to it. The dog tasted like something you get from the store and the chili had huge beans in it which is a big no-no in the world of chili dogs. The fries were fairly cold and not very good either. Overall the place kind of sucked read more

It's about as perfect as you could want it. Great greasy spoon food without even having to get out of the car. Their drive thru microphone system is pretty bad at times, but if you can get the order in you're really going to like it. The burgers are great and the gyros are unbeatable. Their cheese fries are also a great bet, too. I regret not getting them if I forget to add them to my order. The staff is pretty nice too, or at least they have been when I've gone. Once or twice we've had to re-explain our order at the window to make sure we're not getting overcharged for the wrong stuff, so if you think the total number you're hearing from them is wrong, don't be afraid to ask for clarification. And they're open late, which is FANTASTIC. A lot of other places like this seem to close closer to 7 or 8 but this place has way better hours than that. The only other thing I could want here is a burger that has some gyro meat on top of it - maybe they already serve it and I don't know but if they did I'd be back even more often. read more

I had their hot dog and polish. Their hot dog was very good and was topped with fresh ingredients but unfortunately the bun did not have poppy seeds. For some reason, a poppy seed bun adds additional flavor. Their polish was a bit different than what I'm used to. I prefer good ok mustard and grilled onions only. Would probably come here again but there's other places that cross my mind close by before this place will. Update: 1st review was drive thru only, 2nd review I actually dined in and they had a very friendly staff. Although my feelings haven't changed on the polish, my wife was craving it and she went ahead and ordered it. Always on the lookout for a tasty chili cheese dog. I noticed that their chili has no beans... which is the way I prefer a chili dog. Cheese sauce on the dog/fries seemed generic. This place was one of my haunts back in my teens and early 20s and back then you really don't pay attention to taste. All you're looking for is some charred animal flesh on bread. So I returned after over 25 years and let me tell you, not worth the wait! My favorite junk food is a Chicago Hot Dog and this one was so bland. I mean there was absolutely no flavor on this dog. The relish was bland, the dog was bland and I don't know how this was possible but the dill pickle was BLAND!! That takes a special type of power to take a dill pickle and make it tasteless. I also grabbed a cheeseburger and it was good, not great. Here's the real grabber, a large soda cost almost $3. That's ridiculous! The cost of soda is stupid in general and most places charge a little over $2 for a soda fountain drink but $3, that's just moronic. I was a cook when I was younger. The Cajun chicken sandwich was at least 2 day old cooked chicken, maybe 3 day old. It was so dry and mealy I couldn't eat it. I broke a piece off and squeezed it between my fingers and it just crumbled in little pieces, not a drop of moisture. YUCK! I went through the drive-thru and I could barely get my order out. The guy kept asking me if that's all each time I ordered something. It took 3 times for me to repeat it then when I reached the window, he still didn't get it right. It was almost 5 for a chili dog with onions which barely had any chili on it but plenty of onions. 13.00 for a chili dog, small fries with cheese sauce, medium coke, and bad service. I will not go back. prices are too high for what you get. There are plenty of other hot dog places in Chicago that give you what you pay for and have great service. It's a shame! Franksville. Sounds like it's for hillbillies. Let's hope it's not. The place was nice inside, clean and roomy. My order came fast with good service. So maybe it's not for hillbillies. Ate the Chilli Cheese Dog first. What the fu** was this garbage! That was a repulsive vomit-inducing dog if I ever had one. This is definitely a hillbilly dinner. I took like two bites and had enough of that garbage. My dog wouldn't eat this, hillbillies might but my dog never. It tasted like old salty beef that was left out too long. Next came the Chicago Dog. This was pretty decent. All the elements blended well. It would have been nice to have some poppy seeds on the bun. Although it's pretty hard to totally screw up a Chicago Dog in Chicago, then again with hillbillies you never know. The fries were fat and fresh but tasteless. To top it off they give you a small soda with your meal. Not cool! Overall I came specifically for the Chilli Cheese Dog and it turned out to be garbage. The Chicago Dog was fine as was the service. Outstanding fast food establishment. When I'm not dieting, my go-to is usually Taco Dogs loaded with hot sauce and their epic cheese fries. When I'm dieting, it's all about the Cajun Grilled Chicken Sandwich, the Chicken on a pita, and their Greek Salad w/ Cajun chicken - all coming in right at around 400 calories a piece. Their burgers and gyros are also pretty damn good. I tried the Italian Beef many years ago, and I wasn't impressed. Maybe it's time to give it another shot. read more

Fast casual is fast great here...amazing Chicken Pita sandwich and cheese fries. Also enjoyed the Chicken Kabob Dinner, outstanding with rice and lemon wedges. Staff is always friendly, service is quick. No wonder this place is celebrating 52 years. If you want quick and fresh, I have two words for you - Harlem & Addison. And one more word, Franksville!
