The Hercules platter

We had a wonderful dinner. We tried the skordalia with fried zucchini & the Hercules (mixed of skewers & gyro meat) platter. Service was friendly, welcoming & not intrusive.

Saganaki sticks - rich and tasty!

We keep coming back! We recently discovered the grilled vegetables skewers and they're surprisingly awesome... and make you feel less guilty about the rest of the meal. We usually get take out. One time we dined in (an early weeknight with our toddler) and for some reason the food wasn't as good, maybe it was what we ordered. The burger wasn't anything special and didn't really satisfy my burger craving. When we dined in, we got the flaming saganaki cheese and it was a lot of fun. I wish I had my toddlers reaction on camera- she got really scared. The saganaki was delicious but I def felt guilty eating all that greasy cheese. We'll keep ordering gyro, saganaki sticks, chocolate cake, and vegetable skewers for takeout and will give dine-in another shot. They're very kid-friendly!

Fish and Chips (special, not listed on menu). Best coleslaw I've had in my life.

Outstanding restaurant/bar in the heart of Bridgeport on 35th street. The food here is amazing and the employees are very attentive and so friendly. I've had many of Chicago's best chicken wings, but these rank right up there with the best of the best (Bird's Nest, Jake Melnick's, etc.). The Greek sauce wings are juicy and flavorful. Perfect ratio of chicken to batter. Great beer selection to go with your wings as well. Twice I was lucky enough to have the Fish and Chips which is not on the menu (yet) because it is occasionally served as a special. Again, perfect ratio of fish to batter and flavorful as well. Served with a heaping pile of delicious French fries and the best coleslaw I have ever had in my life. On the way out, they have desserts that are all homemade (turtle cake, cannoli) and their ice cream is locally sourced so that you can really plump yourself up with a nice dessert. Fantastic restaurant with equally fantastic waitstaff.

A friend recommended Greek Prime Kitchen & Bar and called it a hidden gem in Bridgeport--they weren't lying! When you walk in, you first pass through the carry-out section, then enter the bar and dining room. At first glance, it feels like a typical bar and grill near the Sox stadium, but the food and service set it apart. Our bartender doubled as our server, and she was fantastic--friendly, knowledgeable, and full of great recommendations. We started with the Greek Chicken Quesadilla served on pita bread, a creamy Greek chicken soup, and a Greek salad. Everything was fresh and flavorful. For mains, we tried a few skewer platters: filet mignon, chicken, and shrimp. The chicken was slightly overcooked but still packed with flavor. Bonus: we were there during happy hour, so wine was only $6 a glass! Overall, this spot exceeded expectations. I'll definitely be back and adding it to my regular rotation.

Gyro Sandwich with Greek rice, Greek chicken wings

I finally had a chance to make it back. And they definitely have won me over. There was a group of 10 of us. They were busy and Is a great neighborhood go to. Didn't have a chance to take pictures but everyone enjoyed the food. We started with the saganaki cheese and the saganaki sticks. Both very good. The saganaki must be eaten on the bread, it's salty alone. The sticks were very good and can be eaten without bread. There was a variety of dishes people ordered. There were chicken bowls, filet mignon bowls and filet mignon platters. Will be back again.

Gyros plate and chicken platter with rice yummy!

Went here for the first time tonight. It was WAY BEYOND what we expected. Sorry Greektown we won't be going there anymore Greek Prime was so much better. We ordered so much food. The standouts for us were the spinach pie, gyros plate with rice and Greek potato (don't judge my double carb) and chicken platter with rice and fries. Nick was our server super helpful and attentive. We took home a ton of leftovers. And already making plans to go back this weekend. Definitely worth visiting or getting delivery.

Bbq gyro and a side of rice

I'm a northsider White Sox fan, and I had a meeting for a dj gig near Sox Park, so I decided to stop by and check out Greek Prime. I got a BBQ Gyro and a side of rice, but I got it to go so I wouldn't be stuck in traffic. I don't know how the gyro made it intact all the way home . I just ate the gyro and ohhhh man it was great. It had cheese, yellow and orange peppers and bbq sauce. It reminded me of the creative recipes the gyro spots in Greece have. You can still get a traditional gyro here though. And the rice is so tasty and has the perfect amount of garlic flavor.

Chilaquiles Special

After being away from home for almost 6 months, the very first place I had to eat when I landed was Greek Prime in Bridgeport -- and as always, they did not disappoint! Carmen, who co-owns the restaurant with her husband Mike, always welcomes us like family. Even though I didn't snap a pic, she sent out dessert for my kids just because -- something she's done more than once. That's the kind of love this place runs on. ‍ Mike is a 3rd or 4th generation chef, and you can taste the tradition in every bite. His Avgolemono soup is the closest thing I've had to my Aunt Leanora's, and if you know, you know -- that's saying a LOT. The Greek Prime Beef Sandwich is packed with perfectly marinated and seasoned meat, and every special is so well-portioned you'll leave with leftovers (which I was happily enjoying as I wrote this ). I'm also so hyped they brought breakfast back! Their chilaquiles special was hands down the best I've had -- whether from a Mexican or Greek spot. The flavors, textures, and presentation were on point. And just in time for summer -- they remodeled their outdoor patio, and it looks awesome! Perfect spot to kick back, grab a meal, and soak in that Bridgeport charm. Before I moved to Lamar, Colorado, I had the privilege of working for Greek Prime. I can say from experience: this is a real family-run gem in the best food city in the world. If you know, you know. Don't sleep on Greek Prime. From the kitchen to the kindness -- this place delivers every time.

Amazing that after all these years, and with huge crowds every night, Greek Islands still maintains…read moresuch a high level of food quality and service. We ordered the whole branzino with roast Greek potatoes, and it was every bit as good as the whole Greek-style fish we've been ordering since first coming here decades ago. The same with the horta (dandelion greens) which I recommend dressing with lemon juice, olive oil (there's a bottle on the table) and black pepper. Delicious. And there is no better taramasolata anywhere than here. Absolutely addictive. The kind they serve at other Greek places is just a pale imitation. Our waitress (I didn't catch her name, but she was from Russia) was an absolute delight. So friendly and efficient. I have one complaint. Egg-lemon soup is traditionally a dairy-free dish. But Greek Islands' version apparently contains milk or cream. I'm not 100% sure it does, but I have lactose intolerance and definitely suffered unpleasant aftereffects following dinner. I called the following morning and I was told that it does indeed contain milk or cream, but the guy I spoke to had a heavy accent so I'm still not sure. The point is, the menu should state clearly when a TRADITIONALLY DAIRY-FREE dish contains dairy for the benefit of people with lactose intolerance or -- much more seriously -- a dairy allergy. Not doing so is very, very irresponsible. That quibble aside, let me re-emphasize how impressive it is that this restaurant remains as good as it is after all these years.

I enjoyed the tzatziki, avgolemono, pastichio, and baklava. Everything was great, and it had been a while since I'd enjoyed such good Greek food. Very complex flavors that's sweet, a little sour, creamy, and with a savory edge from the browning. We sat outside on a pleasant evening and it was a very nice patio. The wait staff were very attentive as well so no issues there. They went the extra mile of checking on food allergy issues for me multiple times. My main issue is that the appetizer - the halloumi - was the best dish. The brussels sprouts that came out were charred crisp on the outside and creamy on the insides - which is ideal - except that the flavor was very one-note. If you eat one, then every other one on the plate is pretty much just that again. The problem is that it lacked that feeling of "moreism" that you need if you're going to go with a very simple flavor profile. They tasted fine, but nothing about these made me want to just keep eating them. We also had the crispy mushrooms which likewise had a very similar issue of being one-note. This was notably better than the sprouts though because they came was a very tasty tzatziki sauce that saved the dish, but the sauce shouldn't be the star of a dish like this.
