It's been a few years since I stopped by since everything changed. The food quality used to be GREAT. Now it's beyond poor. Nothing is fresh, except the lettuce. The burger is literally cooked from frozen, they are dense overcooked patties, super dry. The chicken sandwich is severely overpriced for what it is. Great selection of different foods. We love getting the gyro and the Greek chicken. The only thing I did not appreciate is the fact that they charge for a cup of water. Really enjoyed the baby burger combo here at Nicky's. The burger patty was grilled perfectly and was juicy. Loved the onions on this burger and were a nice complement to the soft bun. The flame grilled chicken sandwich as usual is really good. It was nice and juicy and in was in way dry! The fries when straight out of the frier are extremely crispy and very well salted. However, the Italian beef sandwich had an okay taste to it. There wasn't much flavor and the bottom of the bun was completely soaked and very soggy from the juices, even straight out of the container it was soggy which was a big downer. But the cheese was perfectly melted and had a very nice cheese pull which was amazing! Overall, good service even when packed and other food items on the menu are very good and very tasty! I've been to several Nicky's around the city. But never this one. I have no complaints about any of them, but the Big Baby that I ate the other day from here, definitely hit the spot. This is a very busy location. People are constantly coming in and out of this joint. And for a damn good reason. Half of them are dining and and the other half are doing take out. The dining area is very spacious, and surprisingly very clean. The Big Baby came out very hot. The poppyseed bun was perfectly toasted and meat was very juicy and flavorful. It was covered with cheese and grilled onions with ketchup on the bottom part of the bun. The fries were also very good. They were think, frozen fries. Tasted similar to Mickey Ds, but crispier. Charred is good but burned taste bad. The other side is even worse. Very dry not enough sauce. I don't know what's going on with you guys.. or if this is just bad because it was ordered through delivery. Although this location is convenient, I haven't been to Nicky's in many years. I realized years ago that fast food just isn't the best thing for me. And I've been pretty good at staying away from it -- until yesterday. A wave of nostalgia has come over me since writing neighborhood Yelp reviews. When one of my friends wrote of the Nicky's "Big Baby" in a Yelp review recently - - well, it brought back memories of those tasty burgers. So, around 7 PM on a Wednesday (8/21/19), we found ourselves in Nicky's. I am assuming there are times when this place is very busy - - like days of yore. However, on this weekday evening it was not all that busy. The restaurant looked bright and clean. There is an adequate amount of seating and parking (enter from Kedzie Ave only). The young lady that took our order (most people are young to me these days!) was very nice. And now for the Big Baby.. . . I am glad I remembered to take a picture before I wolfed that baby down! The Big Baby was still very tasty, even though it was very salty. I tasted a few of my friend's fries and although he likes them, I don't really care for them. In all fairness, I don't care for most fries these days. I think Nicky's is a fine choice for fast food - - if you like /can eat - - fast food. My 4 Stars are for a fast food place and not a fine dining experience--so please keep that in mind! read more

This is my review of the one in Garfield Ridge but it applies. New comments: 1. Nice cashier. Gage Park is nicer than I remember. 2. Very clean--unlike the ones in my memory. 3. Pleasant seating. For real. Not those cheap plastic chairs & tables of yore. 4. I got a Big Baby but I'm taking one bite per day til it's gone as a compromise with my cardiologist. Get in this time machine and go back to see what it was like before people worried about carbs, planking, and BMI. It's been over 30 years since I had a Big Baby and a Pizza Puff. Those get 5 stars. I recall the fries being soggy because the oil wasn't hot enough. I'll have to try them again, for Science. The menu has a lot of items but everybody I know would always order the same two things: Big Baby or Pizza Puff. Occasionally the gyro or shrimp would get some attention. I didn't have a cardiologist back then, but I'm sure she would approve of my life choices. Get some Nicky's on your way home from the movie rental store. Or the video arcade. read more

Service charges if you don't use cash but the kicker is over here the Right hand often doesn't know what the Left hand is doing. I have been going here for years but I have watched customer service take a dive as the owner keeps hiring young girls that know less than a box of rocks. This last time I was there, I called the day before to pick up carnitas for getting on their usual weekend format. Drove all the way down from up north and a fat one with a nasty attitude wasn't helpful. These people have no accountability for what their employees say on the phone vs what happens when you arrive. I'm just tired of the crappy attitude when you F up! So I'm done with this place and I'm warning everyone because people don't have to put up with crap service when spending their money. I mean there isn't anything gourmet on the menu but it serves its purpose when you want something greasy. You could order 50 things and every single item would be correct. No matter how busy they were. Now if you order 2 things, something WILL be wrong. No salad with the Grecian chicken? I love this restaurant are used to live two blocks down from where it's at and I would always go and buy a big baby combo or a two hotdog special when they actually had it the chicken is delicious grilled or fried. The gyro is amazing. If you get the one with extra me if it's up to three people, me my wife and my son usually eat the whole thing to really good restaurant great food service is OK. Some of the girls that work in there are kind of ignorant, but ignore that due to the fact that the food is great, those cooks in the bag for Hispanic guys, they're amazing. They make miracles with food. the ambience is real good. They actually have a lot of space and tables. You can sit there and dine in with your family. I like it. She said something that it comes in a plastic container and that the owner refuses to cut them in half LOL like what a joke. I'm not going to sit there and argue with a little girl. Worst meal I've had in ages. Absolutely the worst burger in Chicago. Reminds me of the Cheeseburgers we sold in the snack bar at the pool where I worked when I was 14. They came individually wrapped and frozen, pop em in the microwave for 2 minutes and voila. Only those were much better. The hotdog was just as bad as the cheeseburger: cold on the inside, barely lukewarm on the outside, stale bun, limp pickle. Fries came with hotdog and were - surprise!! - disgusting. The service here is horrible!!! Most of their cashiers look clueless half the time and make you repeat your order 3 times while having a conversation amongst themselves! As a customer of 15 years give or take it hurts me to write this review mostly focusing of the delicious chicken sandwich they use to have. It first started with giving a smaller piece of chicken with the sandwich and I let it go bc it was still very good so I would just order 2 instead. But within the last year they completely change their chicken to dark meat not chicken breast like it once was if that make sense. So I order from Nikki's to Uber Eats I specify no legs because this is my first time ordering there what do I get a leg connected to a thigh and another leg connected to a thigh which I don't eat legs so that went in the garbage the fries were extremely cold and the garlic bread I couldn't even bite into because it was hard .
