This trip I couldn't make it to Greektown. They make THE best Gyros outside of Greektown. I believe they give GT a serious run for their money. The price is right on, and the portions are Bigly. Plus they have some killer sundaes for dessert. But lets get back to the grub review. Fresh sliced gyros right off the spit, its spinning and twirling and the flavorful juices are looking right at ya. So you buckle under the pressure and order a Gyros sandwich. May I suggest a side of BBQ sauce to dip your fries in, yes its delicious! If you are in the pizza mood, Nick's pizza with hamburger meat, jalapenos and onions is superb! Horrible service- kept trying to call and call once an order was placed only for them to tell me they don't even accept online orders. I had been waiting for almost an hour for an online order, only for them to tell me after two hours that they were canceling the order and refunding me tbe money. Greek?! Mediterranean?! Where?! Not at this location. They have pizza puffs, pizza, hamburger, submarine, chicken, fish, taco, hot dog, onion ring and French fry joint. It's American! No Greek! No Mediterranean! I ordered a regular salad. It was freshly made to order and pretty good. read more

I have eaten healthy for the past several years or at least tried attempted too but Nick's is a temptation that's hard to fight. The surrounding area isn't that great (it's Englewood, not Wrigley Ville) but the food is to die for (NO PUN INTENDED). The restaurant is clean and the food is always good. The prices aren't bad considering the amount of food given to you. If you have a fixin for the hood grub or anything good period some here its a melting pot of awesome. read more

I went out for a drive tonight looking for solid comfort food. I was thinking pizza, and was about to be tantalized far beyond my expectations! My car drove past the tiny, little food "booth" near a Burger King almost triple its size. Nick's Gyros and Pizza, the sign read. I pulled into the drive-thru and noticed the "open until midnight" sign. Mental Note: If the food is awesome, I ought to totally come back here for late night cravings. There were a lot of things to choose from on the drive thru menu. The woman's voice operating it told me to take my time. There were no cars behind me and she already sounded significantly more pleasant and patient than many other places I've ordered at. On a whim, I completely forgot about pizza and tried to remember the last time I had a gyro. It had been long. Too long. Longer than... I asked her to remind me what was in it, but even before she finished I knew I had to have one. "One gyro and an order of fries, please." As I pulled in, paid and waited for my order, I could see the pizza from the corner of my eye. Did I make a mistake in ordering the $5.99 gyro? Didn't I initially drive in looking for pizza? The order came, and while it was far beyond regular courtesy to change my order, I asked what pizza selections were offered. She took time to go through every single option. She wasn't hurried, nor annoyed. I thought to myself, this is awesome customer service! I thanked her and told her I would definitely try the pizza next time. Then I headed off to go and sample this $5.99 gyro. As I slowly opened the bag, two perfectly packaged items had been carefully placed within. My order of fries, wrapped in white wax paper and a foil wrapped wonder. As I pulled the foil away my eyes feasted on one of the largest gyros I've ever seen! Size comparison: Imagine the meat in Subway's steak and cheese sandwich. Imagine triple the amount of that in yero (the name of the meat in the gyro). I struggled to take a bite! It was *that* huge!! Seriously, every mouthful was perfectly seasoned and cooked to just the right tenderness! It was awesome bite after bite! Sometimes, when I eat out, I feel like throwing away the food I don't finish. Not this one. I ate about four-fifths of the gyro and I actually couldn't finish it all! The leftovers will be something to savor and relish tomorrow.
