Onion ring

From a first glance, the place didn't look or feel the cleanest due to the sticky residue and trash lying on the floor. In addition to the filth contaminating the restaurant, we ordered the 2 kinds of sandwich, and I believe we also ordered 2 sets of chicken tenders. The chicken they gave us was surprisingly big but the seasoning seemed cheap. It was evident that only half or a fraction of the chicken was actually seasoned, seen from the color disorientation caused by the seasoning. Overall the meal was satisfactory but in all honesty the chicken tasted a bit rubbery. One thing I didn't mention is that I also ordered the onion rings which is just an onion opened up like a flower covered in batter which gets deep fried, only problem that it was only half cooked so towards the bottom half of the onion ring it was still all mushy soggy from the batter.

Decided to try Crimson Coward out on my birthday, unfortunately the absolute worst restaurant experience I have ever had in my life. My family and I walked in, walked on their sticky floor, ordered from their sticky screen, and sat down. I went to chat with the guy at the front and he said I should cancel my order because the person supposed to be helping him with the work is not there and there are too many orders, I was disappointed but I said sure. I go to the front to cancel and he tells me wait so I stand there, a few minutes later a lady walks in and start cooking the food and he said it would be 5 minutes. Mind you I ordered 5:25. At like 6 I go to ask them how much more longer it is going to take and all they tell me is "You have a big order, wait". Order comes out at 6:20. After taking all of our food to the table I go to the front again and say I ordered drinks as well, the guy walks over from the kitchen, looks at me, says "okay", and walks back in to the kitchen??? I look at the lady and she gives me a puzzled look. I had to walk in the back and grab the cups myself! Of course, they forgot my sandwich. My family starts eating their food, I have some of the fries, literally uncooked, onion bloom, barely even fried, it was like a raw onion, my family shows me their chicken, half cooked as well. I was in utter disbelief like how back could this place be??? At this point I could not stay in there for another second, and left without eating anything for my birthday. To top it off, I emailed Crimson Coward about this experience, no reply. $110 spent to have the worst restaurant experience ever, on my birthday! Disgusting filthy building, my mother and brother had "stomach issues" the next day as well as you can imagine. Please, go anywhere but here, save yourselves!

Red Light Chicken - Hot and honey chicken sandwich

the perfect menu for a person that gets decision fatigue VERY easily…read more i got one honey chicken sandwich - bomb. chicken nuggets - so yummy. truffle fries - will dream of those fries forever. good sauce. great price. lots of food. so much flavor. service was quick and ambiance was your typical hole in the wall grease dripping down the walls the food must be so good kinda joint. so you know the food is rockin!!!

Important Note: With Red Light Chicken, one must manage their expectations. If I'm not wrong, they…read moreuse chicken breasts (white meat) rather than thighs (dark meat). The result is meat that is naturally less tender and moist. I was going to ding them until I realized this; thus, it's not a criticism, just the reality of the cut. Their menu is incredibly simple! There are some options available (e.g., sandwich as plain, hot, honey, honey-hot). They also have fries, nuggets, and cans of soda. This simplicity means they're able to specialize very well and make deliciousness! I ordered a sandwich, honey-hot, with the standard mayo and pickles. The chicken was hot and crisp with a thin layer of scrumptious crust. The meat was cooked well, especially given the nature of chicken breast. The honey wasn't overdone and gave a pleasant sweetness. The heat reminded me of Tabasco sauce; while respectable, and the acidity helped add a new flavor dimension, the heat was minimal for my palate. It would be nice if Red Light offered an extra-hot option. The pickles and mayo were in perfect amounts, and the bread was a fresh brioche. Bonus points for the sando not falling apart on me, as happens with places that stuff massive, lopsided thighs to look pretty on Instagram. The service was lightning quick! I had the sandwich in hand less than a minute after ordering. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and polite also. The value is great! In a world where everything costs an arm and a leg, $8 for a reasonably sized chicken sandwich is more than reasonable. Finally, there is no indoor seating whatsoever. There are, however, ample standing-room tables around, with one having overhead heaters. Thus, while not necessarily a destination, Red Light Chicken is a phenomenal neighborhood chicken shop!

She had the salmon and it was excellent. First restaurant that's asked how we'd like the salmon - medium or well done. We chose well done and it was perfectly succulent. My mom loved the food so much that despite usually having a poor appetite, she finished a biscuit smothered in jam, half the huge piece of salmon, and split the ice cream with me. She loved all of it. A note on the bathrooms : in the women's room, the stall to the right is handicapped and has a baby changing table although I don't think it's labeled.

Coming from Texas, fried chicken has to be on point, no exceptions. Let me just say... this place surprised me in the best way. Our server, Leslie, was fantastic and had great recommendations right from the start. We kicked things off with: * Deviled eggs -- absolutely incredible, especially with that crispy ham on top. I can't say enough good things about them. Order these. * Biscuits -- buttery, flaky perfection. Paired with the butter and jam, they were dangerous. * Hush puppies -- I usually don't even like hush puppies, but these were next-level. Super crispy, not your typical cornbread taste, and the pepper jam took them to another dimension. I was shocked how much I loved them. For mains: * My wife and I split the fried chicken with mashed potatoes. The chicken was solid--juicy and tasty--but I'll be honest, I wanted it a little crispier and more heavily seasoned. Still very good overall. * My mom and goddaughter got the chicken sandwiches, and they were so juicy the juice literally shot out and got all over my daughter's clothes. That's how you know it's real. * My daughter ordered the shrimp and lobster roll on Texas toast. I stole a bite and it straight-up melted in my mouth. The seafood was perfectly seasoned, and the crispy bread was the ideal vehicle. We also did the hot chocolate flight (the alcoholic-infused one ). Every single one was delicious, but the Baileys version? Unreal. Highly recommend. Service was top-tier--Leslie took such good care of us. Heads up: they automatically add 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more, but our service was so good we happily tipped on top of that. If you're from the South (especially Texas) and you've been struggling to find food in Chicago that actually hits right--this is the spot. Phenomenal experience from start to finish. We'll definitely be back.

We saunter up to our chosen restaurant only to find a sign on the door that says, "closed for private event." Did I mention I was hangry? My husband suggests Jake Melnick's. It was within walking distance ... did I mention it was raining that night? And I was hangry? I was game for anything at that point. We arrived and waited probably four minutes for a table. A couple of the adults ordered a beer, the others ordered a Coke. We ordered a large pretzel and our mains. The pretzel was so good. All the meals were outstanding (a sliced brisket sandwich, some wings, chicken tenders, onion rings and a burger). Service was great. It was a little loud when we first arrived as there was an intense Illinois State basketball game on but as soon as the game ended, it was much quieter. We really enjoyed our meal at Jake's!
