It's cheat day and I've chosen Raising Cane's! I know Cane's has a cult following so this review will be an unpopular but honest opinion. I've passed this location a lot but it's always a madhouse so I just ordered ahead online for pickup. Upon entering, it was chaos - whoever designed the layout must have been joking. It's incredibly confusing, and there are no signs or designated lines just people everywhere. Finally a cashier opened up for me to ask about pickup orders and the good news is my food was ready on time. I was not impressed with their plastic bag or styrofoam packaging and by the time I got home the chicken breading was coming off from the moisture. I did like the Cane's sauce but otherwise I thought my 3-piece meal was just ok, nothing special. I have to say, I really don't understand the hype. 2.5/5 stars rounded down. read more

Quick friendly service, nice atmosphere- opposite to millennium park (crown fountain side). They got a set meal options, we picked the three chicken fingers, Texas toast and crinkle fries with fountain soda. The chicken fingers were oily, crisp on the outside, lacked flavor. Last time I was at a Raising Cane's was in Boston, and I distinctly remember them yelling out "Hot, fresh chicken for Mark!" True to form, the chicken would be hot and fresh! Enter this location... I was there to pick up an online order, but I only heard "Chicken for [name]." This slight deviation ended up being a bellwether for the whole experience. I placed an online order for their "3 Finger Combo" and picked it up within the given timeframe. The meal was ready upon my arrival, and it was a short, less than two-block walk back to the office. I opened the box and discovered: the chicken and fries tasted distinctly like they'd taken a vacation under a heat lamp. They were slightly warm and barely crisp. There was some flavor, but the texture really put a dent in it. Further still, though it was requested (and in the case of extra sauce, paid for), the extra sauce, ketchup, and hot sauce all forgot to make it into my bag. Sorry, I wasn't about to brave the humidity for a 49¢ sauce, and I have some ketchup and Tabasco at my desk, but it still hurt the experience. If you compare against fast food establishments, Raising Cane's comes out right around average... however, especially given the slightly higher prices and past experiences, I've come to expect a higher standard. Competition for lunch around The Loop is fierce, and I can name two better chicken shops within a five-minute walk in my sleep. With this, the final verdict: while Raising Cane's may be average compared to McDonald's and BK, it performs below expectations compared to nearby competitors and even other eateries bearing the same name. Thus, I cannot say a return visit to this location is in my future. read more

Two big stars for a fun place that's great for tourists...not great for anyone on a budget or expecting better quality than Chik-fil-A. The chicken combos are ok...just ok. I had the Caniac Combo, and for the price, you get six smallish pieces of heavily breaded & rubbery chicken, a piece of Texas toast, a dollop of broken-ass crinkle fries, a thumb's worth of cole slaw, and a fountain drink. That sounds like a lot but it really didn't seem like it once your finish off the chicken fingers. Someone behind the counter made a big deal to me about getting two--count them TWO--Cane's sauces. This place is super cute--the lighting, the massive amount of seating, and the colorful wall graphics are great, but the food was pricey and underwhelming. I also wonder why it took nearly 20 minutes to complete my order once I entered it into their ordering iPad. I LOVE Cane's! This location is always super busy but I'm glad they have the kiosk option available for ordering. I do have to say that the last time i visited my tenders weren't 100% cooked through - the texture was off and my boyfriend said the same. The sauce is always the best part. read more

Honestly... this was my first time ever trying Cane's. Personally, it tasted exactly like Zaxby's but not as good. This location on Michigan Avenue it was extremely packed. I spent $20 on a combo meal and didn't get my bread or my coleslaw. The food is exactly what you expect.. except they were chicken fingers with unseasoned cold fries. Definitely ask for extra sauce when you go because the cups are a little small. Date of visit: July 24, 2023 Raising Cane's is hands down my husband's favorite chicken restaurant, fast food restaurant, maybe even his favorite restaurant of all time! So when we not only visit a city that has a Raising Cane's but walk right by one just a couple blocks from our hotel, there's no way we aren't going to stop in at SOME point. That some point this time was lunch on a Monday while we were exploring the city. The food was good--as always--and the restaurant was large and in great condition. While I also enjoy the chicken, their fries are normally not my jam yet this time they actually had some crunch to them and I ate more than a handful. Really the only downfall here was a lack of service at the front counter where we didn't get exactly what we ordered. But it was so good that it's hard to complain TOO loudly! read more

The chicken fingers themselves are delicious, and of course they're hot and fresh--because the kitchen is having a hard time keeping up with demand. I've always heard of the long lines at the new Raising Canes in South Florida so when I was in Chicago and saw a Raising Canes with no line,l I had to go in. I ordered at the kiosk and it was very quick and easy. My order was ready and myname was called very quickly. I ordered the box combo with four chicken tenders, crinkle fries, toast, Canes sauce, and a soda. With tax it was over $14. I found the chicken tenders were lacking in flavor. The toast was good, although smaller than I had expected. I love coleslaw and this was good. The Canes sauce was good but not all that different than sauces at other places. The interior has a very cool vibe. There was an employee actively clearing and cleaning tables. I am glad I got to try Canes and happy I didn't have to wait in a long line. read more

After walking around for what felt like hours trying to find a place to eat, and with no luck, I wound up here. Raising Cane's is not my favorite when it comes to fast food, but in a pinch, it'll do. This place looks fairly new, and from the reviews that appears to be so. The space is huge when compared to other fast food setups nearby. It is bright, but that is where much of the luster falls away. Inside, with it being so busy, there isn't much cleaning going on. Also, with them pumping the music into the space, it is almost nearly impossible to hear anything, including when they call your name for your order. I ordered the three finger combo. I figured it would be fast and I could be on my way. However, when it came to ordering it took forever. There is a singular touchscreen for ordering. But if you get people that don't know how to use a touchscreen, you have to stand in line and wait to order. Service here, while ordering, was horrendous. There is no line, it's just people standing around and hoping that they might be next. Then you have the employees behind the line that either straight up ignore you, or would rather have a conversation with their coworkers. When I finally got to order, it was like I was shouting over the music and having to repeat myself numerous times. Only to have to tell the employee several times before my order was right. Once that was done, I went over to get my drink. This was another mess of an area. No ice was coming out of the machines which doesn't make for a pleasant, cool drink. Then I sat around and waited nearly fifteen minutes for my order to be ready. I almost didn't hear it be called with the music again blaring throughout the space. While sitting here I got to noticing a lot about the space. This place has multiple entrances, but only one that is really functional. That one entrance every single person has to come and go through. Stationed hear the door is security for hire. Once my food was ready, I made my way outside and back to my hotel room for the night. There is nothing special about this to me. It is chicken and every fast food chain has their take on it. I wasn't impressed by any of it. All my stars go towards the food. I always thought Raising Cane's was a Southern chain when I first tried it in Kentucky, but was so glad that they opened a location in downtown Chicago. I love the chicken tenders combo and the toast they give. The Canes sauce is so good! It kinda sucks extra sauce costs like 50 cents though. Prices are kinda steep for the platters ($13 for 3 tender combo with a drink, fries and small coleslaw). The location loses stars because of their staff and service. The food takes like 15+ minutes to come out. Ran into some incredibly rude staff. Needed to wash my hands and needed a code to enter the restroom from the worker. They first said "it's for paying customers only" and then asked me for a receipt and then gave a snarky comment. Asking for purchase is fine, but I could do without the rudeness and snarky-ness. The restaurant was pretty clean and pretty big. Always busy but there was room to sit. read more

The chicken was alright, but not crispy enough and a little soggy. The fries were just okay too-- too soft for my liking. The coleslaw and the sauce were fine, but nothing special. I think my favorite part of it was the toast, which was quite crunchy and I enjoyed its light and slightly sweet flavor. It was pretty crowded inside, but everything was fast. We ordered quickly on a self-service kiosk, found a table easily, and our order was ready at the front in a few minutes. I had never been to one of these, but family in Southern California rave about it so we stopped in. The place is large and there's lots of seating. There are stanchions to direct the line and we did wait a couple minutes, but once at the counter service was quick. We ordered a combo to share and it came out pretty quickly. They also proactively gave us a cup of ice to split our drink. They do very loudly and frequently announce orders on the overhead so you can take a seat after ordering and not have to stand and wait. The food was tasty, but not particularly healthy which is exactly what we wanted! The tenders reminded me of the flavor of KFC a little bit. They were well cooked and not at all dry. I also liked that the breading wasn't too thick. Thinish crinkle fries and very buttery toast plus so so cole slaw rounded out the meal. We would come back when craving something greasy and bad for you so basically we'll be back. read more

So I am from Florida and we spotted a raising canes in downtown Chicago, which is supposedly some cult like place for chicken fingers. We stopped in and got three chicken finger baskets with fries. The service was good and the food came out fast and hot. The fries were excellent and the chicken was decent but I didn't think it was anything super Duper special. I will say their special sauce was definitely tasty, but again, not sure about the cult like following. Located on Madison and Michigan, this always popular chicken place brings in the locals, tourists, and sports fans. The menu is simple with tender fried chicken, fries, Texas toast, and a few condiments. Lemonade is always good to quench your thirst. Be prepared to wait in line or wait for your food. It would be great if they mentioned the wait time for your food. It was so popular, they forgot my order and I waited 30 minutes. I would love it if they didn't use styrofoam and non paper straws. Was excited to see this place open up and try it for the first time in Chicago, and the chicken was tasty but unfortunately the rest was underwhelming. I came after a night shift super hungry, a bit after opening time, and ordered a three piece combo which comes with fries, Texas toast (I subbed that out for coleslaw), and a drink. The chicken came out quick and smelled great, each piece as crispy and juicy, but they were also pretty small. I easily could've had twice as many before I was satisfied. The fries were very standard crinkle cut, but the coleslaw was pretty under seasoned and bland. The Cane's sauce was creamy and tangy and paired well with the fried food, so at least it did life up to the hype. Overall though, for almost $11 ($12 after tax) for a couple small tenders and some forgettable sides, you could do much better around Chicago. read more

To think I would try Raising Cane's for the first time in Chicago rather than in my home state of California! About a 20 minute walk from my hotel. I had some high expectations since my friends from the Bay Area rave about this place. It wasn't busy at all; the moment I walked in the employees behind the counter greeted me with lots of energy in their "awesome sauce" customer greeting. I ordered their 3 chicken finger combo and waited about 5 minutes until my order was ready. Great interior with bright lights and a worker was sanitizing the seats diligently during my dining experience. The fries were great, the bread reminded me of Hawaiian bread, and the chicken was definitely delicious. The fry on the chicken was light and crispy, reminded of the crispy skin texture from Jollibee. Their sauce tasted like thousand island dressing with another ingredient added. It was definitely a filling dish, but didn't surpass my expectations. read more

Glad I was finally able to try this spot. The place is a zoo! People going in every direction. You have no idea who is in what line, who was eating or waiting for food at the tables near the register. There is a kiosk line that spills over to the waiting for pick up mob. Food was mediocre. Chicken Finger Plate, thought it was a good quality, but slightly undercooked. Lacked any crispness. Didn't care for their dipping sauce too much either. The ketchup and napkins are next to soda machines. That was a challenge to access do to the large group of teens surrounding area. I know, a VERY successful chain with a terrific business model! Wouldn't have been that busy unless they were doing something right. If I was hungry, the location was slow and I was walking by, I might return, but I won't make it a destination stop again. read more
