Had to try their new white truffle burger. The burger was delicious, though a bit on the greasy side. The truffle flavor was subtle, but that didn't stop us from enjoying it. We also had the white truffle fries which I feel like the sauce could've had a stronger truffle flavor. Also fries were tad bit salty... probably from the parmasan. I arrived around 12:20pm on a Tuesday afternoon (Christmas Eve) with my son and sister after checking into hotel that was up the street. The smell of the burgers drew us here. I placed an order around 12:25pm via the tablets. My son got a hotdog and fries. I got a double bacon cheese burger and fries. I took a number card and sat down. It can be a little pricey! I dislike that they don't have combos. Fortunately, there was seats available for us as it wasn't that busy. They have a men and women's restroom but also an all gender restroom, which was nice. The restaurant was clean. They have free water available. Our food was brought to us at 12:30pm. It was fresh and delicious! The tasted matched the pleasant aromas. I only went here once during my vacation but if i was a local, I'd definitely be somewhat of a regular. read more

T-Mobile provided a free hamburger and I always wanted to try. The deal made me spend $5 so I got cheese fries. I downloaded the app and opened an account. It was zero degrees out so I figured probably a good time to go. No crowds. I got a smashburger (no bun cuz the allergen list says it has sesame in it). The burger was nothing special. The lettuce was wilted and there was a tiny tomato on it with onion strips and their sauce. (I added ketchup when I got home with my takeout.) No thanks in the entire burger. I tossed the wilted lettuce after I bit into it. The sauce was not something I would ever care to eat ever again. The meat was nothing special. Sandwich as a whole, I've had WAY better elsewhere. Buona Beef has an epic burger. The crinkle cut fries with cheese were edible but that's the only positive thing I can say. I'd never buy again and sorry to say, I can't see myself choosing to eat here ever again. This is my first time trying shake shack and i was not disappointed. Despite going on a very busy time during St Patricks weekend, the service was quick and I was able to find seating. Maybe because it was my first real meal of the day and it was already evening, but the burger was cooked to perfection in my opinion. It was slightly pinkish in the middle and was not dry at all. The vegetables were also crisp and fresh. For drinks, I got their cookies and cream milkshake and it was thick and creamy. Overall, I understand the Shake Shack hype. This Shake Shack is in the heart of Chicago and had a large modern dining area. Food Quality: 4/5 The double Avocado Bacon Burger was about what you would expect. The cheese was melted, and the char on the burger was nice. The fries were pretty average and the cheese sauce was good but could have benefited from being warmer. Atmosphere: 5/5 Very modern interior. Service: 3/5 The order taker wasn't particularly friendly. Not rude, but very transactional. It took while to get the order, but there was a decent number of people in the kitchen working hard. I didn't see any crew member come into the dining room during my visit. This is the type of place that makes me question the "tip" button on the credit card reader. I filled my drink, I cleaned up my table when I was done. This place was ok for a quick bite. I would rate it 3.5 if I could. It was crowed half of the placed was blocked off. You can order at a kiosk or counter. The fries? No. They were basic crinkle fries with no seasoning for $4.49 we should have left them off. The chicken sandwich had a nice crisp to it decent taste. I wish they had something other than the mayo type sauce to offer it was 8.99. The hamburger? I didn't taste it, but the hubs said it was a decent burger for $7.79. You get refills on your drink and there is a water station in the sitting area. Fried pickles were good. Milkshakes are were things got really disappointing. The Oreo milkshake & the black 7 white just had no flavor! The Oreo was like drinking cookies, couldn't taste the ice cream at all. The black & white all I could taste was the chocolate. Would we go back? Sure. It was a decent place while doing tourist things. Coming from NYC, Shake Shack is a common fast food spot for us, but we stopped here for a snack since my kid loves their hot dogs. It was very crowded and busy, not surprising given its location right off Michigan Avenue, but we did manage to get a table fairly quickly. The food was about the same as every other Shake Shack and exactly what we expected. I think if you're visiting Chicago, there are more interesting places in this area to eat, but if you've never been to Shake Shack or if you have a little one wanting a familiar snack, it works. read more

This was by far the worst experience I've ever had with a restaurant. Order Uber Eats and I get a driver that brings in literally half my order. Meanwhile he's using Google translate to communicate and can't understand that I'm missing half the order. Ordered 2 burgers, a hot dog, fries, pickles, 2 shakes, and a lemonade. Right away I notice that the driver doesn't have the drinks and try to explain that. Then get back up to the room and notice the fried pickles aren't in the bag either, along with the cheese sauce. Tried calling the restaurant to see if they had the food and drinks, and of course no one answers. Overall a shitty end to the night when we were looking forward to a nice meal and shakes. Food was okay today - not happy when I paid over $40 for two burgers The avocado in my burger was a 1/2 slice semi hard and not fully ripe. I tipped as I always do when I ordered picked my number and sat. They just called out the number so they wouldn't have to walk it over, mind you today was a slow day i believe I was 1 of about 3-5 tables eating there. Then next two orders were walked over and given to the clients as were they were seated. Horrible service from lazy people who just could care less about their customer service. Chicago's first Shake Shack continues to be its worst for me. I ordered on the tablet, which asked me if I wanted to eat in or take out. I wanted to eat in, and I grabbed a table number thinking someone would bring the food to me, which was not the case. I then got a text message stating I would get another text message when my food was ready. I'm glad I didn't wait for that second text, because it never came. When my food was ready, an employee plopped the bag down on the counter and called my name. And that's fine, I really didn't mind getting up to grab it, but the actual service was so different from the expectation set at the kiosk, that I was disappointed. Oh, and even though I had asked to dine in, my food came in a bag to go. Other people who came after got their food on a tray, so I guess I'm just lucky. I decided to try the Korean chicken sandwich they have special at the moment, with a side of the cheese fries. Though the food was ready very quickly (probably a bad sign if I'm being honest), it came to me lukewarm at best. The fries were fine, they still had crisp despite not being piping hot, but the cheese sauce was starting to clump. The chicken sandwich was borderline cold, and dry to boot. The flavors were good, but I regretted the whole meal because who wants to eat a cold fried chicken sandwich? The restaurant was also dirty. Abandoned table numbers scattered around, napkins on the floor, questionably clean tables, ketchup smeared on a trash can. The water dispenser seemed to be missing its handle. If you're craving Shake Shack downtown, you'd be much better off going to the location in the CAA Hotel. read more
