I remember there was a huge hype on "Shake Shack" when they opened this Mag. Mile location back in 2014. I also vividly remember the company's IPO in 2015. Well, I enjoy going to Shake Shack because the restaurant is usually clean, food tastes fresh, and entire family can find something they like to eat (my kids certainly love their extravagant milkshakes). My mom and I didn't originally plan on coming here, but we didn't see a crowd inside the restaurant and we were looking for a quick spot for lunch on a rainy Sunday. The ordering pad was easy to use; I also was able to apply the coupon I wanted to use. It was my first time I tried the Chicken Shack. I liked there were multiple pickles placed inside the sandwich to balance this crispy, thick, showstopper fried chicken breast. The app. reminded me of the promotion so I was able to take advantage of it. I ordered my mom a shroom burger. For those who don't know what that is, is a vegetarian sandwich with fried stuffed portobello mushroom with a plenty amount of cheese. Therefore, it can be messy to eat. Nevertheless, this is my go-to choice since I don't see any other fast food restaurant chains offer this. Service was relatively quick for a busy Sunday. Most importantly, we were able to fetch a table without any difficulty. My son is a big fan of Shake shack. Surprising there was not a line when we arrived at 8 pm on Saturday and we were able to place our order quickly and find a clean table. Bathrooms were clean too! Food came out in about 10 minutes and was hot and fresh. I thought my chicken breast was a large size. I preferred the fries to the mac and cheese but my kids liked the mac. Had to try their new white truffle burger. The burger was delicious, though a bit on the greasy side. The truffle flavor was subtle, but that didn't stop us from enjoying it. We also had the white truffle fries which I feel like the sauce could've had a stronger truffle flavor. Also fries were tad bit salty... probably from the parmasan. I arrived around 12:20pm on a Tuesday afternoon (Christmas Eve) with my son and sister after checking into hotel that was up the street. The smell of the burgers drew us here. I placed an order around 12:25pm via the tablets. My son got a hotdog and fries. I got a double bacon cheese burger and fries. I took a number card and sat down. It can be a little pricey! I dislike that they don't have combos. Fortunately, there was seats available for us as it wasn't that busy. They have a men and women's restroom but also an all gender restroom, which was nice. The restaurant was clean. They have free water available. Our food was brought to us at 12:30pm. It was fresh and delicious! The tasted matched the pleasant aromas. T-Mobile provided a free hamburger and I always wanted to try. The deal made me spend $5 so I got cheese fries. I downloaded the app and opened an account. It was zero degrees out so I figured probably a good time to go. No crowds. I got a smashburger (no bun cuz the allergen list says it has sesame in it). The burger was nothing special. The lettuce was wilted and there was a tiny tomato on it with onion strips and their sauce. (I added ketchup when I got home with my takeout.) No thanks in the entire burger. I tossed the wilted lettuce after I bit into it. The sauce was not something I would ever care to eat ever again. The meat was nothing special. Sandwich as a whole, I've had WAY better elsewhere. Buona Beef has an epic burger. The crinkle cut fries with cheese were edible but that's the only positive thing I can say. I go to various Shake Shack locations a few times a year. After going to this one, they may have permanently lost me as a customer. It took nearly an hour to get my order. And that was only after I was finally able to flag down an employee, who only then printed out my ticket. My food had just been sitting there unserved for that whole time. This is my first time trying shake shack and i was not disappointed. Despite going on a very busy time during St Patricks weekend, the service was quick and I was able to find seating. Maybe because it was my first real meal of the day and it was already evening, but the burger was cooked to perfection in my opinion. It was slightly pinkish in the middle and was not dry at all. I have only been to Shake Shack in an airport, and the real thing is far better! First, they were fast. It was really busy, and we still only waited maybe 12 or 15 minutes. Second, I had never had a fried (and cheese-stuffed) portobello burger before, and it was fantastic. Third, the fries were perfectly cooked and came with a little fry fork. Coming from NYC, Shake Shack is a common fast food spot for us, but we stopped here for a snack since my kid loves their hot dogs. This place was ok for a quick bite. I would rate it 3.5 if I could. It was crowed half of the placed was blocked off. You can order at a kiosk or counter. The fries? No. They were basic crinkle fries with no seasoning for $4.49 we should have left them off. The chicken sandwich had a nice crisp to it decent taste. I wish they had something other than the mayo type sauce to offer it was 8.99. The hamburger? I didn't taste it, but the hubs said it was a decent burger for $7.79. You get refills on your drink and there is a water station in the sitting area. Fried pickles were good. Milkshakes are were things got really disappointing. The Oreo milkshake & the black 7 white just had no flavor! The Oreo was like drinking cookies, couldn't taste the ice cream at all. The black & white all I could taste was the chocolate. Would we go back? Sure. It was a decent place while doing tourist things. Chicago's first Shake Shack continues to be its worst for me. I ordered on the tablet, which asked me if I wanted to eat in or take out. I wanted to eat in, and I grabbed a table number thinking someone would bring the food to me, which was not the case. I then got a text message stating I would get another text message when my food was ready. I'm glad I didn't wait for that second text, because it never came. When my food was ready, an employee plopped the bag down on the counter and called my name. And that's fine, I really didn't mind getting up to grab it, but the actual service was so different from the expectation set at the kiosk, that I was disappointed. Oh, and even though I had asked to dine in, my food came in a bag to go. Other people who came after got their food on a tray, so I guess I'm just lucky. I decided to try the Korean chicken sandwich they have special at the moment, with a side of the cheese fries. Though the food was ready very quickly (probably a bad sign if I'm being honest), it came to me lukewarm at best. The fries were fine, they still had crisp despite not being piping hot, but the cheese sauce was starting to clump. The chicken sandwich was borderline cold, and dry to boot. The flavors were good, but I regretted the whole meal because who wants to eat a cold fried chicken sandwich? The restaurant was also dirty. Abandoned table numbers scattered around, napkins on the floor, questionably clean tables, ketchup smeared on a trash can. The water dispenser seemed to be missing its handle. I tipped as I always do when I ordered picked my number and sat.
