Horrible food at this location. They are spoiling the name of Nandos Bunch of kids running this place. Neither they had no idea about the whats in each dish, neither they know if substitution can be made, WORST neighbor they know how to cook. Any question asked them was let me check and 3-4 staff members had to consult. Food that came in was not as per Nando's standard. Garlic bread was not crunchy, crispy, very little garlic, Burger seemed not fully cooked. Bowls were not that great either. 5 of us spent $100 but it was bad. Still one of the better deals out there. I hadn't really eaten at Nando's a lot but have come to appreciate that it's a really good price for a handcrafted meal. It's rare in Chicago to get a full meal with a beverage for $15. This location is the one near the Northwestern Medicine campus . I ordered online and was given a time to pick up my order, which was almost an hour for their Rainbow Bowl (Avocado, tomato cucumber & onion salad, pickled cauliflower, hummus, superseed crunch, and feta served over Portuguese rice and Lemon & Herb PERi-PERi drizzle). We ordered at the cash register. I ordered 6 Peri-Peri wings with Peri ranch and roasted cauliflower. I have to say they were the smallest wings I've ever seen lol. But they were deliscious! I also enjoyed a Portuguese beer, Sabres, which was light and refreshing. My friend ordered the 1/2 chicken (2 pieces). The chicken is marinated for 24 hours in Peri-Peri and then flame grilled. I tasted her chicken and it was juicy and flavorful. This is what I'll order next time. Don't forget to try their sauces. Nando's is located in five states and DC with the most in Illinois. It has had legendary status in my mind since my directioner days, so when I saw my hotel in Chicago was a few blocks away from one, I knew I had to finally try it. Spoiler alert: it was so good I got it twice in two days. I ordered take-out both times, and my food was done quickly and packaged well with all the utensils/napkins I needed. On my first day, I got a peri chicken rainbow bowl with lemon & herb chicken thighs. This bowl was soooo good. The chicken was succulent and juicy with a slight lemon flavor and skin still on. The rice was tasty, and the cucumber/tomato salad was fresh. I was particularly impressed by the avocado, which was super creamy and contrasted great with the chicken. Also loved the superseed crunch. The only part I didn't love was the pickled cauliflower. 10/10 would recommend this bowl, I'm craving it again already. If I lived near a Nando's, I'd get this for lunch all the time. The next night, I ordered a medium chicken leg with a side of fries. The chicken leg was a large portion, and again, cooked really well. The fries were fresh with a nice fry and fluffy inside. Nothing spectacular, but solid fries. I will say to order spicier, I found the medium to be equivalent to a mild at other chicken shops. Regarding service, we came during a really busy time so the wait time to receive our food was somewhat long. The service staff were helpful, but they seemed really swamped with their work. I didn't mind this, but it's something to keep in mind if you want a "fast" meal. One complaint I had is that items that are not available are still on the online menu. My friend ordered one of the lemonades but we were told way later (after waiting for around 30 minutes) that they didn't have it in the store and they could swap it with another beverage. I've visited this Nando's while visiting Chicago a few times. The dining experience is centered around the signature flame-grilled chicken marinated in peri-peri sauce, a spicy African chili-based blend. The chicken is always perfectly seasoned, tender, and has a reasonable amount of spice. During this visit, I decided to try the wings for the first time. After paying for my food, the manager explained to me, they only had a few wings left (not enough to complete my order). I had been at the hospital with my best friend all day, and I didn't have the mental bandwidth to make other plans. I told her, "that's fine, just give me something else." I feel like she knew I had a long day, and she was extremely accommodating since they couldn't give me exactly what I ordered. This was such a fulfilling meal that made my evening have a good ending. I've been to a lot of Nando's locations, so we were excited to visit this one since it had been a while. The greeter was really nice and got us seated fast. We ordered our food from our phones and it came relatively fast. The food was as good as we remembered, but it was disappointing because both times we went here they forgot the extra pineapple I ordered, so I had to sit around for a while as they prepared it while my food was getting cold. That part wasn't so nice, but otherwise we enjoyed visiting. Would just recommend reading the tickets a little more. read more

Service and food were amazing. Have to also give it up to Nick the manager. We went in February after a visit to Luries for our son before heading back home. The place was clean and we were seated right away by Nick. We decided to place our order at the counter, and the person taking care of us was also great. My husband and I were having a hard day, since our son was being treated for a newly diagnosed illness- and Nick and his staff took great care of us- and little did they know it was also my bday, so it was a much needed surprise and break... it literally was the little pick me up that I needed. I had heard of this chain existing elsewhere in the world, but coming from the west coast it seems like we unfortunately don't have Nando's here. The inside was pretty spacious with nice decor, and I was able to get seated immediately. At least at the Nando's I went to, you order through your phone by scanning the QR code at the table and so you pay before you get your items. They also have different sauces off to the side, so definitely take advantage of those to try them out with the food. I came here a couple times, getting the 1/2 chicken and chips one time and the Nando's Chicken Bowl. The quality of the chicken and chips was not bad, although the chicken was a bit dry on the inside and the fries were more salty than I had anticipated. However, I highly recommend getting the Nando's bowl with Portuguese rice, corn, bell peppers, and pieces of their chicken. This was delicious, and this is significantly better than any Chipotle bowl I've had. The chicken was tender and juicy, while the corn was both savory and a bit sweet. The Portuguese rice also had its own flavor and paired well with everything else. I also recommend trying out their Rooibos tea drinks, those are solid. I was surprised how much I liked Nando's. The first time I've ever had it, I got the quarter leg meal with fries and peas. The peas were good. They had a nice seasoning to it and a bit of a kick. I splurged on the sauce for the fries, but since the fries are seasoned, I didn't really need it. I was the first customer of the day too, so the oil was fresh. The chicken was super moist. Seasoned amazingly well. I got the peri Q seasoning on them, so it wasn't too spicy. The chicken could've been underdone though as it was a little pink closer to the bone. My friend had Nando's in London and she was so excited that there was a location in Chicago so we had to check it out. The prior night we passed by another location and saw a crazy long line, so we planned to come here right at opening time to avoid waiting. My friend and I both had the 3 Chicken Thighs with one side ($14.19). She had it with the Peri Chips aka Fries and added their Garlic Mayo (extra $1.00). I asked for the Charred Sweet Potatoes, but they ran out so I swapped it for the Butternut Squash and Corn. And we're still on vacation for we also got a pitcher of their Red Wine Sangria ($21.89). While we were waiting, my friend went and gathered over all of the sauces. Like literally one of each sauce. She is obsessed! There was a peri peri lemon & herb, peri peri wild herb, peri peri garlic, peri peri medium and peri peri hot. When the food came out I was surprised to see skinny thighs. No wonder why my friend recommended the 3 thighs. When I go to other chicken places back home, I'm usually full off 2 thighs but these were skinny thighs. Also they were boneless so pretty easy to eat. The chicken at Nando's is marinated for over 24 hours so they are really well flavored. I actually like them fine without any extra sauces. They sauces were too salty for me. I just wish the skin was crispier. Soggy chicken skin is no good. I normally like butternut squash and corn but this preparation was pretty bland and nothing special. Would have been better if they had the charred sweet potatoes I initially wanted. The real highlight for me when I was at Nando's was that sangria we got. It had a good amount of fresh fruits that absorbed the sangria and it was fun to snack on, especially the apple pieces. Yum. It was a nice and healthy meal but nothing I "need" to have again. If I see it again in another city I visit, I probably wouldn't waste travel time on it.
