I was really excited to try Roti, as I love Mediterranean cuisine. I found this place before I came to visit Chicago. It really gives a Mediterranean Chipotle vibe, where you can build your own bowls or pita pockets and customize it to your liking. I made a rice bowl with the harissa chicken, roti chicken, and feta. It was pretty decent. A little expensive for just a bowl. I also got a very upset stomach the next morning - so be cautious. Service is generally friendly! read more

This place was amazing. I was not expecting to like it as much as I did. I ended up building my own bowl with rice, greens, chicken, and a ton of different veggies. The portions are SO big, and they do not skimp out on meat protein portions at all. I really liked how the bowl came with a side of freshly baked pita bread. It was soooo good. The employees were super nice and efficient when building the bowl. The place is casual but with so much nautral light because of the ceiling high windows. There were some tables and booths, but they were taken. So we ended up sitting at the small high tables overlooking the streets near the window, which was a great place to eat and people watch. I was back in Chicago for a conference (after having lived here for 3 years) and had to come back to Roti, as it used to be a weekly go-to lunch spot. Pros - The quantity of the food hasn't changed where you can still get your bowl filled to the brim and they don't skimp! (It's a little more than Chipotle, withva bowl, a pita, and a drink being $18.) - The speed of service was great. From the time I walked in until I was seated was less than 5- minutes which was great. Cons - The pita was DRY! (Granted I did go at about 11:30a, but still super dry.) The chicken also could have used a bit more spice/Flavoring. - The customer service also wasn't the best, but things change, so could have been worse! read more

Wanted to have a light dinner before seeing a show at the Goodman Theater and decided to try Roti, which is a quick walk away. We each ordered the Harissa Chopped Chicken Salad, and OMG was it delicious! The chicken was extremely juicy and flavorful, and all of the veggies in the salad were fabulous. Think of Roti as the chipotle of Mediterranean food. It's fast, seems healthy, and is delicious. I built my own bowl with saffron rice and half lamb half steak. The saffron rice is delicious and well seasoned. The lamb is shredded and really reminds me of carnitas. The steak is slightly spicy and has the flavor of Barbados. I absolutely loved the organic tea and lemonade so refreshing I got two refills wanted a gallon of them. The pita bread was warm fluffy delicious. I am doubtful that I will ever have a complaint about Roti! The food is absolutely incredible - obviously very high quality ingredients. I used to live right around the corner, so I went to this location countless times. They have an excellent rewards program and a seamless pickup system if you want to preorder and pick it up! The hummus is absolutely to die for. I've been to similar restaurant chains in the city and nothing comes close to their hummus. Everything is extremely fresh and tastes just as great as leftovers. They'll occasionally give you promotions and rewards on the app which is always a happy surprise! I have also gotten it delivered a few times and they're always so fast and efficient with delivery. Some restaurants tend to skimp out on ingredients when it's delivery or pickup, but I can confidently say there is no difference in quality and care getting it in person versus online. Great flavors... ...Was about to choose my usual salmon kebab until I looked upon the two 'aged' sticks of street meat left dying a second death in the pan. They didn't even resemble salmon anymore. Aborted that mission. Asked the gentleman about the difference between the two choices of fowl. I thought he was going to talk flavors, nah, instead he said "this one is white meat, this one is dark meat, like thighs"... Now, I don't do dark meat. Aht Aht, miss me with the, "But Kamal, dark meat is so much juicier." I don't care. I have this notion that massah kept the 'white meat' from the slaves, throwing them the 'dark meat' scraps, so I'll power thru a dry azz'd breast for my Ancestors any day. Plus, did you know chickens can only fly about 10 feet in the air and for only about 5 or 6 seconds? But, they can run pretty fast and spend most of their time on their feet...hmmm sounds like the legs and thighs do all the work while the 'upper parts' fetch a higher price. But I digress...I order the 'white meat' anyway. So I get to the part where I order my sauce and they're out of the green sauce. How Sway? Ugh. I sit down to eat, bite into the 'white meat' and it's drier than a perm at a pool party. And no, not dry because it was 'white meat' but dry because it was OLD. Like OLD OLD. I wouldn't be surprised if it was yesterday's poultry. Went back to the counter, exchanged it for the 'dark meat' that had just come off the grill. Even showed the employee the white meat I scooped out before throwing it away while he watched so he'd know I wasn't just "another customer trying to get something for free."
