I got a delivery order from this restaurant on a Tuesday night. I got the spicy chicken tenders, they were spicy but not as spicy as they are labeled. It's a smoky heat, and they are in a dry rub. The chicken is well cooked, although there were a few tendons I had to eat around. I also got the fries and a chicken Caesar salad wrap. The wrap was dry, lacked Caesar dressing, but had all the right components. You can add a side of sauce and you should. It may be better if not delivered. I also got the kids chicken tender meal, it comes with three small chicken tenders, fries, and a biscuit. They looked crispy, and good. I would probably eat there if I were to revisit.

This is a nice little fast food-ish chicken restaurant. You can get chicken wings, chicken tenders, or a chicken sandwich on a biscuit or bun. Of course, I had to get my sandwich on a biscuit, which are huge by the way. They have a few signature chicken sandwiches to choose from. The Carolina Style was calling my name so that is what I went with. I also got a side of fries. It took them about 15 minutes to have my food ready. My sandwich was so delicious. It was packed with flavor. It was also fresh and hot. There is metered street parking and commercial parking lots available for those that are driving to get here. The staff there was friendly enough, but I will admit that my interaction with them was limited. Well, this is a nice chicken joint that is worth checking out. I really like my meal here.

Our experience here was pretty good, it's a little warm here in Chicago so it was kind of warm in the restaurant. It took a good 10 to 15 minutes to get the food even though it was kind of busy.. The workers were nice. My only problem here was after taking two bites, My chicken fell apart. it could've been my fault cause I did add coleslaw to the sandwich, but even with that there are some sandwiches that come with coleslaw either way, knowing that you get a choice of a buttermilk biscuit or a brioche bun. The mac & cheese was pretty good. It was creamy and peppery and a little bit spicy, but I liked it. Overall, pretty good place just kind of small and not a lot of spots to sit at especially for a busy day.

Roost's biscuit egg sandwich is outstanding. fluffy eggs, a buttery biscuit, and great flavor all around. The restaurant location does a much better job than the food truck in my experience. The only thing I wouldn't order again is the matcha. The breakfast sandwich keeps me coming back, but the matcha was a miss for me.

Ordered Roost Chicken & Biscuits for my lazy Sunday meal, and it did not disappoint! I'd heard great things about this spot in River West, so I had to check it out. I went with the 3-piece tender chicken sandwich and a side of mac & cheese. The chicken sandwich was amazing! I got to customize it and chose a brioche bun, spicy seasoning, ranch sauce, and added pimento cheese--and wow, it hit the spot. I love pimento cheese, and it took the sandwich to the next level. Plus, it was a pretty big sandwich, so even if you're really hungry, just a sandwich and a side is a solid meal. Not knowing that, I also ordered extra chicken and got the 3-piece tenders. They were hefty and cooked perfectly! I had them with Alabama white sauce, which I highly recommend if you've never tried it before--so good. The mac & cheese was super cheesy and delicious too. Overall, Roost is a sleeper pick for one of the best chicken sandwiches in Chicago. I feel like it deserves more hype because everything I had was top-notch. Definitely will be back for a chicken sando!

I love fried chicken and I love biscuits. Service was a bit slow due to the amount of takeout orders perhaps. But, this is a decent spot for both items. The chicken spicy level 3 of 5: Good texture, but no flavor in the breading or sauce. The biscuit 4 of 5: nice, buttery salty biscuit, but it could of been a bit bigger to fit the chicken better. The sausage gravy 4 of 5: it was good, but needed a bit of pepper in the gravy. Give this place a shot and see if it fits your taste, as for me, it makes me miss the South a bit more.

This was one of my first stops once getting to Chicago. We arrived and it was empty which was concerning but I wasn't going to let that stop me. The cashier struggled answering my questions and seemed to be guessing more than giving an accurate answer. I ended up walking away because ever answer was beating around the bush kind of response so I let the person I was with complete the transaction. The space was decent. They had a fair amount of seating not huge but not tiny. Simple dining room but serves its purpose. For food we got the house style on a plain biscuit and the sunrise on a jalapeño cheddar biscuit. The house style def would have been better fit for a brioche bun over the biscuit. But that wasn't a recommendation the cashier could assist with. The sunrise breakfast sandwich did great on the biscuit. But over all I have 2 big issues. 1) the biscuits even though it looked like they came out a hot box sat on the counter and became cold. 2) the same for the sandwiches themselves. They moved so slow and no urgency that the food was like warm. I ordered hot sandwiches I expected hot sandwiches. The flavor was good but the template was lacking. I've had hotter sandwiches from delivery orders and considering I ate at the restaurant I'm not sure how they managed it. Besides nothing was good fresh and all of it was being held in hot boxes besides the egg so it was really barely warm to began with then the solid build of the sandwiches finished off eliminating and warmth.

I am so happy that Roost moved into a better space down the street. Their food is so delicious and always comes out fresh and hot. Their staff is always so friendly as well. This restaurant is a big hit for me and my girlfriend - we are always looking for good food in our area. My favorite items are the Fried Chicken Biscuit w/ fries. I also enjoy their spicy chicken salad as well. Check em out!

The food was definitely good. I tried their special and I wasn't disappointed. Coming from a place that makes Nashville Hot Chicken I would have to see they simply have a different brand and the food was just as good. I gave them a 4/5 stars because it was good but not the best and I only went once.

Best chicken sandwich I think I've ever had! I had the original with pickles on the side. The sauce and coleslaw was AMAZING! Also loved the Mac and cheese! Service was amazing and quick. The store is a small corner but they get you in an out and it's quaint. Can't wait to come back!

    House Style Sandwiches

Ordered delivery through their website and the process was pretty seamless, other than them forgetting utensils and napkins. The food was pretty good and super filling. We ordered the House Style Sandwich with both bread options: Buttermilk Biscuit and Sweet Brioche. We did prefer the Brioche as it paired better. The biscuit wasn't bad but a little dry and broke apart a bit while holding it up. The Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding was just a bit too sweet and over baked, so I wished we tried the peach cobbler instead. Still a decent meal overall and I'm sure it would have tasted better eaten immediately/fresh!

We arrived 20 minutes before our scheduled reservation, but we were seated within five minutes of arriving. The server, David, greeted us promptly when we were seated. He mentioned that if you're ordering appetizers, they should be ordered with the main meal. While we looked over the menu, water was offered. I ordered Blackened Catfish over brown rice and carrots. The catfish was tender and perfectly seasoned. My brother had grilled flounder with creamed corn. Like the catfish, the trout was tender and well-seasoned. The corn had a slight sweetness. Roger had Short ribs and mashed potatoes. The ribs were tender and did not need any sauce because they were seasoned well. We also ordered a side dish of Macaroni and Cheese. It was delicious! A mixture of Gouda cheese and other cheeses. Very creamy! The top layer cheese was baked perfectly! If you know, you know, it's all about the top layer of cheese The APPETIZERS: The Gumbo was spicy but delicious! You only taste the spice at the end . It's not overly spicy; it's just right. The fried chicken gizzards were tender but could have used a bit more seasoning. It was served over brown rice and gravy. If I'm not mistaken, there were maybe 8 or 9 gizzards. The fried green tomatoes were perfect! From the seasoning to the grilled shrimp on top. Oh yes, grilled shrimp with this delicious sauce drizzled over the tomatoes. 3 or 4 shrimp. They were delicious! I've never had fried green tomatoes served w/grilled shrimp--definitely a must-try if you've never had it. For dessert, pineapple upside-down cake with coconut cream on the side. It was soooo good! They could have removed the coconut cream, as it was not needed. And it was a shareable portion for 2-3 ppl. There were other desserts, such as Blueberry Cobbler, Key Lime Pie, and Vanilla Ice Cream. If you're in the Hyde Park area, give these folks a try Oh yeah, the Manager, Louis, was walking the floor. I spoke with him briefly From what I observed, it's a very casual dress code--jeans, shorts, blazers, etc. And I loved the quotes on the outside window of those who were killed, like George Floyd and Sandra Bland. This place was nice! The dining area was clean and decorated nicely. The choice of decor fit the overall scheme I look forward to visiting again, possibly next Spring.

We chose the pepper steak, smothered chicken, orange chicken, catfish and spaghetti, and the bbq catfish. Overall the food was ok., The bbq fish was a little to fishy and the smothered chicken was heavily salted. The star of our 6 dishes was the fried piece of catfish. The food came out quickly but nothing was piping hot. The server was OK as well, he did exactly what we expect of a server nothing more nothing less. ### Dawn AM Eatery Review…read more Got up this morning and everyone decided to have breakfast at Dawn AM Eatery. My sister made reservations for our family. She initially tried to make one reservation for 12 people but was told she could only make **two reservations for six people each**, both for 9:00 AM. That was the first red flag. I walked in at 9:00 AM, and as a Kenwood Academy alum, I saw the Kenwood Academy sign and thought to myself, *"This place is going to be good!"* Boy, was I wrong! Everyone who was already there had been seated, but our family was split up--half on one side of the restaurant and the other half on the complete opposite side. One side had a long bench with approximately 16 tables, and that entire section was practically empty. I asked the manager if our family could be seated together on that side since the tables were empty. She told us **no**. I asked why, since there were plenty of open tables. She simply said, *"We have other reservations."* I explained that there would still be plenty of tables available for those reservations, but she remained firm and completely unwilling to accommodate us. Then she told us that if we wanted to sit together, we could sit **outside**. Keep in mind--it was raining, and we had my **80-year-old mother** with us. Needless to say, sitting outside was not an option. What really bothered me was the manager's attitude. There was no apology, no attempt to find a reasonable solution, and no sympathy for the situation. She was rude and completely unaccommodating. We also had three additional people join our group unexpectedly, and they were told they would have to sit outside because we had more people than originally reserved. Then came the service. Our waiter was extremely inattentive and acted as though he didn't really want to serve our group. He took our order, and then we waited...and waited...and waited. At one point, I went outside to check on our other family members who were seated separately. They weren't waiting for their food--they were **well into their meals**. It was around **10:20 AM** when our waiter finally came over and said, *"Your food will be out shortly."* Our food finally arrived at approximately **10:25 AM--an hour and a half after we arrived!** Unfortunately, some of my family members were visiting from out of town and had plans to go to the **Obama Presidential Center** after breakfast. Because of the extremely long wait, they had to leave immediately after eating and couldn't enjoy the rest of the day with us as planned. So, unfortunately, our experience was: Poor service Rude and inattentive waiter Unaccommodating management No apology or attempt to resolve the situation Family unnecessarily separated 1 1/2-hour wait for our food** The only reason I'm giving Dawn AM Eatery **one star** is because the food itself was decent. For a family gathering of 16 people, this was a very disappointing experience. We came together to enjoy breakfast and spend time with family, including relatives visiting from out of town. Instead, we spent most of our time waiting, being separated, and dealing with poor customer service. **Needless to say, I will not be returning anytime soon.** Dawn AM Eatery--you can do better.

When you break into it the two bones were broken and pieces of the bone were in-between meat so if you try to chew small remnants of the bones get stuck in your teeth. The Macaroni lacked cheese. I cant tell you what the muffin tasted like cause i didnt eat it. Not sure if i was supposed to get a muffin with both meals but as you can see i only got a muffin with one of them. Then $6 for their dressing i they only serve on Sundays and I received half frozen dressing in a container. Yep I said it right a container of half frozen dressing like with ice in it. I called the owner let him know my experience and told him im just providing feedback as I had ate there before and maybe it was staff that just needed to be retrained along with the fact they they are a business I dont want them to lose out money.
