    Tender Plate

First time trying Fry the Coop and it was delicious! I tried the tender plate and got my tenders mild. Was thinking it was going to be a little more spicy than it was. But was still very yummy. Decided to try the hot butter and wow it slaps. Fries are amazing too! Service was great and I loved the bar. It's so cute and has a ton of charm. I'll be back and I'll challenge myself for the next heat level up!

Craving chicken? You've got to try this crazy good hot chicken from Fry The Coop! We got to try some of their menu recently. They have 5 delicious sandwiches with your choice of heat, or not, chicken and Waffles, chicken tenders, and delicious sides. Bonus: Their west town location (1529 W Chicago) has a full bar, where you can enjoy libations with your chicken! We were lucky enough to try the following: Chicago Hot Chicken Sandwich (yes, we have our own sandwich!) Nashville Fried Chicken Sandwich Spicy Butter Fried Chicken Sandwich Chicken and Cheese sandwich Chicken and Waffles Messy Fries Not gonna lie. Our favorite was the Nashville Fried Chicken Sandwich

My go to is the Nashville chicken sandwich and seasoned fries. The chicken is a little dry but it's the quality and combination of the other ingredients that's top notch. The slaw, pickles, seasoned chicken, and structural integrity of the soft brioche bun. If they switched to chicken thigh, it would be perfect. The fries are cooked perfectly in beef fat and adequately seasoned. Service was good. Decent amount of seating for small groups.

So I was recommended this place by my Jaguar dealership I show up I didn't have any expectations. I just wanted some chicken actually I wanted some chicken wings I get there. They don't have chicken wings, but I asked for a recommendation on what they suggest so, I got I think a Nashville chicken sandwich and it was Really good. I walked in. It was a very welcoming experience. The staff was a tentative respectful and really showed up because I do believe in good customer service so the chicken that I ordered the sandwich I don't even know if I made it home because I ate everything on my ride home. I had food all in my hair eating this food so the chicken was very flavorful. The parking was easy. The vibes was good. I would highly recommend the I would recommend this place again. The food was good and I'm actually kind of wanting a sandwich again so I would patronize this place again. I really like the vibe so I would highly recommend this place to anybody. that's in the area or that wants to just go off the beaten path to try some new food now I was a little upset they didn't have the chicken wings but you know what this is 2026 and I'm trying something new and the sandwich was good. The food was good. They actually had real french fries so yes to the staff to the establishment. I see you... you are doing your thing. Thank you for your service.

Small bar that serves chicken sandwiches as their specialty. I was there during their lunch hour. At first it was me and the bartender, I think I came close to open. Service was great and quick. Mind you, by the time I ordered the bar was half full and the seating was almost all taken by Chicago Police for lunch. In terms of ambiance, it reminded me of an elaborate gas station. Not in a bad way. It was eclectic in decor. Like gas station meets Nashville. The bar even brews two of their own beers. I got the honey butter chicken sandwich with fries. They had a "combo" where it was a sandwich fries and a drink or beer. Not a bad deal. The chicken breast was thick and juicy. It was a messy sandwich but it was just what I needed with the pale ale I was drinking. It's open until 2am so the place must get crowded the later it gets !

As expected, my dine in experience was much better than my take out! Ambiance was quiet at first, but dinner service traffic began to pick up as the night progressed. I ordered the lil sandwich with heat, off of the kids menu (these should come with a small side of fries). My friend ordered the OG Nashville mild sandwich and then we ordered messy fries to share. Service was pretty fast as we got our messy fries in about 10 minutes. 5 minutes later we got the rest of our order. Everything looked pretty great, but I was missing my side of fries. About 5 minutes more go by and I just assume they forgot them, so I flagged down a waiter and informed him that I was missing my side of fries for my lil sandwich. About another 5 minutes later he brought he out a well proportioned side of fries. They were like five guy fries with the skin on. Some were super crispy and I love skin on russet potato fries that are cripsy!! I left the rest that were slightly more mushy. We started to dig in and everything was delicious. My sandwich was crispy and the cole slaw gave it the freshness it needed. The messy fries were flavorful and packed full of toppings (lived up to their messy name! Get extra napkins for this one). The topping to fry ratio was a bit unbalanced. After eating the toppings you're left with a large amount of just fries, but I didn't mind! It's hard to place the toppings in a way that it will reach all the nook and crannies of the bottom fries. Our original server was a bit absent and didn't check in on us. We had to stop her a few times for extra napkins and drink refills. In her defense, it seems she was training and was 1/2 servers available for the whole place. When we got our check, this is where they lost the one star for me. Our waitress had rung up my order wrong and charged me for a lil Nashville, which is different than the lil sandwich I asked for. On top of this, it makes sense why I was served such a large portion of fries too, that I didn't even end up finishing. So, I was charged for a lil Nashville and a side of fries instead of just the lil sandwich. I can understand the mistake was easy to make because the names are so similar, and she is training, but given the fact that we weren't checked in on and this mistake wasn't caught earlier I was a bit disappointed. It was also partially my fault for not inquiring further. I'm sure if I had informed the staff of this error they would've corrected it, but for a couple of bucks it's not worth the hassle. They were really busy at this point as well and I didn't want to add to their work load. We paid and that was that. Overall, in conclusion, much much better experience than my take out. The food was fresh and delicious. I would happily come again!

Update: Tried the "hot" this time and I barely managed to eat because it was TOO spicy for me. I thought it would just be a notch spicier than the medium heat but I was wrong. It was 10x's spicier. Really wish there was a heat level in between.

It was good, because Fry the Coop is always good. It's a good sized restaurant with 10 booths or so and some high tops, as well as counter seating at the bar. The bar is a full bar, so quite a departure from the other locations. Parking is on the street and along Chicago you'll need to pay the meter if you find a spot, but some of the side streets have non-permitted parking. The employees were friendly enough. Once they came out to see I was there. But what's annoying is that when I placed my order there to go, they never asked me what sauce I wanted and I didn't even think about it until I was halfway home. The only reason I went to this location instead of the one in Portage Park is because their online ordering system said they had honey mustard, whilst the PP one is out. There were several ketchup packets that I threw away (ostensibly included because of the fries) but nothing else. Boo.

I don't care much for breakfast food, so I had the American burger. I prefer my burgers well done but ordered it medium well because I didn't want the cooks to burn the patty. The burger was very greasy, and not very good. It also had a slight off-putting smell that made me worry about becoming ill. (Thankfully that didn't happen) It tasted okay, but I can't say that it was enjoyable. It was edible, which isn't saying much. The waffle fries were nothing spectacular either. I was disappointed with my food. I also had the mango smoothie, which was decent. My sister had the corned beef hash, eggs, toast, and potatoes. She really liked her food, especially the corned beef. My friend Shannon had the French toast flight, but she didn't eat much of it because she said it was too sweet. Our other friend had the eggs, bacon, and potatoes, which he enjoyed. I wouldn't visit Chicago Waffles again, but everyone else in my party said they would so take that for what it's worth. The restaurant was busy, but the staff did a great job running the show. The space is bright and cozy. We didn't feel rushed even though the restaurant was bustling. I'm giving it 3 stars since two of my friends enjoyed their food.

The food and service are always wonderful here!…read more This review is not about the restaurant. This is actually for the reservation system through the Yelp Guest Management system. I called the number provided here on the Yelp webpage for this restaurant. I had a phone conversation with what I now believe was an AI representative that told me that I had a reservation for a party of 6 for this coming Sunday. I felt like the phone call was a bit off, because AI can definitely give an uncanny valley feeling. Also, I knew from past experience with this restaurant that they didn't use to take reservations. I went to the restaurant's website to check it out and lo-and-behold the number is different! I called the restaurant's real number and asked about the reservation. The employee was very polite and kind and explained that they don't make reservations (first come, first serve). Thank you again to that kind employee, because that had to be a confusing call. Sorry about wasting your staffs' time with this by the way, Batter & Berries! I cannot imagine if I had brought my party of 6 to a very busy brunch spot expecting to get in right away because I thought I had booked a reservation, so I alerted the business on the call, and then I went to alert Yelp. Surely this is just a small mistake, and Yelp can get this broken AI reservation system taken down for this particular restaurant so this doesn't happen to anyone else. Surely this is not a big deal! Lol. Of course it was. I spent half-an-hour looking for ways that I could inform Yelp via customer chat, email, or even call. Nope! Yelp is now offering services to supposedly book tables for potential diners, but they still only have customer service for the businesses. I tried the one customer service number that Yelp does have (877-767-9357). I tried repeatedly to go through its AI menu. However, whenever I would answer that I was a customer and not a business, it would end the call. When I stated that I was a business just so that I could be directed to a human being, I was told by a very helpful representative that Yelp doesn't have human representatives that help non-advertising costumers or businesses. TL;DR Do not use the reservation feature on Yelp's website. They do not care if it is accurate, and there is no way to even inform Yelp of their mistake. And definitely no customer service or support for you as the person that used their broken system to make a fake reservation. But Batter & Berries itself? AWESOME!!! That 5 stars is for them. Negative 5,000 stars to Yelp for using a broken AI reservation system and having no support for when it inevitably creates problems for diners and the restaurants they want to enjoy. Edited to add: I just got done trying to fill out a correction on the phone number that Yelp has listed on this webpage for Batter & Berries as it is not correct. When I went to fill out the correction form Yelp auto-fills the information they have currently for the business listing. Would you all believe that they had the correct number for the business in the form already? So they know the correct number, but are putting their AI reservation number up instead. Why would they do that? I do not know, but I'd guess it's not for any selfless reasons. This will be the last time I use Yelp for anything, and I am looking into ways to report them for fraudulent advertisement at this point. I know it's probably silly, but changing the number to your broken AI system when you know the business' real number is a bit too much. The actual restaurant number at this location is (773) 248-7710 if anyone needs to get in touch with the real restaurant.

We sat in a cozy table for 2 and the art was a plenty. We had the steak Fajita omelet, the French toast flight (paying a little extra to try ALL the flavors), side of catfish, and the seafood omelet. The Steak Fajitas Omelet was so flavorful. The meat was tender. The eggs were so cheesy. The hash browns were crispy and aplenty. The Seafood omelet was the rockstar that stole the show. There were 3 well sized shrimps sitting on a bed of lump crab meat on top of a fluffy mound of egg white omelet in a savory sauce that you almost want to lick the plate clean. We did order a side of catfish! Just because! Nicely fried with a seasoned breading with a side of hot sauce. To end our meal- we chose to do the super flight of French Toast- blueberry, strawberry, caramel, lemon and the butter cookie (seasonal flavor). I managed to take a bite of each one and I can see why this place is known for its French Toast. The drip coffee was the kind that you just couldn't stop with 1 cup. I'm not someone who typically takes pictures of food, but I had to take a picture this time! The bacon was cooked just the way I like it, a little crispy + a little chewy = perfection. They do kind of crank the AC, and even as person who likes it a little chilly, I was a tad cold. But that's a very minor thing, and it would never prevent me from recommending this hidden gem!
