So I have mixed feelings about this. I lived literally next door to the original Waffles before it opened, which was owned by Alex Hernandez, who I was acquainted with. He eventually opened Waffles Cafe. When it opened, it was insanely good, even in the South Loop, where we were known for brunch. I guess (this is not fact, just assumption) that he then sold it to the current owners, who have expanded. Now, it is still good, but much more generic. I actually thought the waffles were pretty good still. My issue was the chicken was anything but moist and they didn't give you a steak knife to cut it, only a butter knife. It did not go through the chicken. They had an average (not bad) bloody and the service was fast but nothing very memorable (good or bad). read more

Attended with an expected large group of people. Waitresses 2 were good. Service was abominable. Some of us were finished eating before others were served. My Irish skillet contained COLD hash because it was not prepared properly. Another skillet contained COLD shredded cheddar. A side of Hollandaise sauce wasn't even close to being hollandaise and arrived at the table with a skin on it. Orders arrived with the helper who did not know who it belonged to. Unfortunately the service was terrible - I asked for one Diet Coke 10 times over 20 minutes and was told sure one second and then it never came. We also tried to order for over 15 minutes and were told sure one minute. That should have been our sign to leave. She was super sweet, attentive and so apologetic for our experience. Walking in we were hopeful. The place was big and spacious. The menu had many different and interesting selections. Now for the real deal: my food and my husband's was brought out first. His "10 oz" steak (more like a 6 oz.) looked like a steak from the dollar store (son's words). It was ordered medium rare and came out as dry as the desert. My son's plate came out after a significant wait. Why wouldn't they bring the food out together? He ordered a waffle sandwich with Steak, eggs, onions, and red pepper (the Hungry man). What he got was no steak (maybe a couple of pea sized pieces of beef) and a LOT of mushrooms. I'm from Los Angeles and was visiting some family for a few days. On Saturday night, everyone decided they wanted to have brunch in the morning. Sunday brunch is not for the faint of heart in LA and usually involve long wait times. I searched for breakfast spots nearby that took reservations and this place popped up. We had a party of 10 but the Yelp reservation system only allowed up to a party of 6 so we made two reservations, one for 6 and another for 4. The next morning, I called and asked if both reservations could somehow be seated close together or combined and the girl I spoke to (I believe her name was Maria) was so kind and said yes but there might be a short wait. When we got there, we waited for maybe 10 minutes and were able to get two tables put together for our entire group. Our waitress, Marissa, was patient with our large group and I really appreciated that. Their menu is huge so there's literally something for everyone. The portions are huge as well! I ordered the avocado omelette, which had bacon, tomato, swiss cheese, and avocado plus a side of potatoes and toast. I've never had an omelette come out so perfect before. The eggs are usually overcooked but this omelette was amazing. The customer service was excellent from both Maria and Marissa and I will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in town! read more

This is such a cute spot in Willowbrook. The inside is so much cuter than the strip mall it is in so don't let that deter you. The restaurant is trendy and chic and incredibly clean. They have a cute spot in the doorway perfect for your Social Media photo ops! Our server was very kind and attentive. I ordered the Waffles with Short Ribs and Cheddar. It was an interesting combo for sure. I'm not sure I would order it again but, they have a huge Menu so there are definitely other items I'd love to try. Chicago waffles was very delightful The server was wonderful and very attentive , I had a waffle with a side of eggs and bacon The waffle was very crispy and it had a great flavor on its own without any butter or syrup , but the syrup was very delicious too. Eggs were cooked perfectly over easy and Bacon was a bit on the crispy side so if you like that is the place for you . The inside of the restaurant is decorated with a beautiful little cherry blossom tree in the center of the restaurant, very cute and quaint... I had the three cheese omelette and added jalapeños for that extra kick. Came with potatoes that were cooked and seasoned just right. As someone who previously worked in the fast food industry, all these positive reviews must be from friends or family because this was the worst dining experience ever. I should've taken a hint when we pulled up to the restaurant and it looked broken down and only two cars in the lot. Got greeted and then seated right next to the only customer there. Was never asked if I wanted a booth or table in which there's barely any booths either way. My partner tried ordering a smoothie come to find out there weren't any so opted for an apple juice. I ordered orange juice and could tell right away it was straight from a carton not fresh. Ordered a Mexican style omelet and my partner a banana cinnamon pancakes. Pancakes came out burnt with way too much cinnamon that made the meal dry. My omelet was the saltiest meal ever we both could not finish our meals. I also tried ordering sourdough toast I of course asked if they had any waitress said yes (I know not most places have it) she then came back and told me they didn't have any so I just opted for white bread. It consisted of two eggs, turkey bacon, and American cheese between two mini waffles. It also came with a generous helping of maple syrup. Honestly, if the maple syrup did not come with the sandwich, I do not think I would have finished it. There was not anything necessarily wrong with my sandwich, but it just fell flat for me. The flavors kind of mushed together. I would have liked the savory flavors to be more stronger. Overall, this is a basic breakfast place to go to when you're looking for simple flavors.
