I really liked this place. They have parking in front of the restaurant and back. I highly recommend a reservation on Friday-Sunday even if you are just one person. I called them because I wasn't sure if the online version would be too slow. We were a group of three that came in Saturday night at 7 pm. It was moderately busy. The staff were all welcoming with smiles on their faces and attentiveness. Prices were fair for the amount of food you receive. Food portions are colossal so I would recommend one appetizer and one entree if you are a couple. They give you a complimentary dish. We ordered arayes with meat, meat toshka, mixed grill with baba ghanouj, fillet of basa fried, and mint lemonade. They also offer you fresh Arabic coffee before you leave. This is about a 4.5-5. -arayes with meat 4 - this was not bad. It's like a tamer version of the meat toshka. -meat toshka 5 - I prefer this over the arayes because they add the Syrian cheese. This one was bursting with flavor the moment you took a bite out of it. The minced beef and lamb just melt in the mouth. -mixed grill 5 - this came with 3 big skewers (shish kabab, kufta kabab, and chicken tawook. It also has tomatoes and onions to help cut down the meat when digesting. There are two heaping portions of biryani and saffron rice and baba ghanouj. The baba ghanouj was creamy and flavorful. It goes well with the pita bread. The meats were cooked medium well unless you want something. I think next time I'll ask for the shish kababs to be cooked medium rare or medium for a more juicy taste. The chicken tawook and kufta were both succulent. -fillet of basa fried 5 - the two pieces of basa fillet were astronomical. It also comes with two different kinds of rice. The fish was flaky, moist, and seasoned. Make sure you add the lemon and eat it with the sauce. -mint lemonade 5 - this was very refreshing after eating a heavy meal. read more

Came here for lunch to celebrate my birthday. It is located in the Harlem Corners shopping center with ample parking. The staff is warm and welcoming, and we were seated quickly upon arriving. Love the ambiance! It is very cozy and inviting. We were served a complimentary appetizer: pita bread strips, pickled veggies, and what I believe to be an eggplant dip. We also ordered the Bawadi wing appetizer. It was delicious, and those wings! It came with a sauce, but I cannot comment on that because none of us tried it. The wings by themselves are delicious! My friends both ordered the lamb chops, and I ordered the Al Bawadi mixed grill with hummus and bread. Everything was good, and the portions are generous. The meat was tender, juicy, and seasoned well. We all enjoyed our meals. We plan on coming back in the Fall to celebrate another birthday. We came here for a quick bite to eat before a game. The place was packed including the parking lot. They stay had plenty of tables available and we also received quick service. We ordered two sandwiches. A Chicken shawarma and meat shawarma. Both were fantastic and came with a lot of fries. Overall a very filling dish and a great option for a quick meal. Walking in you see the private seating arrangements they feel like you're eating in Palestine. The servers were all busting their butts to take care of everyone. The food at Al Bawadi was amazing from start to finish. We ordered the seafood mixed grill, and it was outstanding. The basa fish was incredibly flavorful, and the grilled shrimp were cooked perfectly and very tasty. The dish also came with several sides that really made the meal special. The saffron rice and yellow rice were both excellent, and the babaganoush, hummus, and salad rounded everything out nicely. The thick garlic paste that came with the meal was fantastic and paired perfectly with the seafood. The only small critique was that the hot sauce could have been a bit hotter for those who enjoy more heat. We ended the meal with a huge piece of kanafa, which was absolutely delicious. Paired with mint tea, it was the perfect way to finish an incredible meal. Even the leftovers were amazing the next day. Meat for the latter was a bit dry but the plate was plentiful for two meals Nd the garlic sauce just made the dish. I normally cook when I entertain, but I was celebrating my 50th birthday and didn't want to have to cook for the celebration. Al Bawadi to the rescue! Their catering is so easy and everything comes as a package. I love all of the food and salad and since I had ordered a Sidr and large mixed meat platter, I got falafel as well. Everything was excellent, as always! My guests were raving about everything and there was plenty of food. The meats were all well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The chicken was tender as were all the other meats. The 2 rices are both a lovely color and so yummy and balanced. The hummus is silky smooth and so delicious, and the baba ganouj is the best I've ever had. The muthuwama is the crowd favorite. I've never been able to find it at a place that had perfected it as Al Bawadi has. The ordering process as very easy, I just called and my order was taking by a very nice lady. The food was ready when we picked it up, and presented so nicely! They helped my husband load the boxes and everyone was so friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is beautiful as always! We were a group of 7 people there for a birthday dinner and we were all amazed not only by the delicious food, but also by the amazing service. We shared an appetizer sampler and an order of kibbeh, all of which tasted amazing and signaled that our main dishes were going to be a treat! We got the large kebab platter, intended for 6 people, and we were amazed by the generous amount of food, which included hummus, babaganoush, muthawama, salad, and a variety of meats. The meats were seasoned perfectly and cooked absolutely beautifully, a truly impressive feat! Of course, we couldn't skip the mint lemonades, a sweet and refreshing touch to our delectable meal. For dessert, we split a large, ultra crispy kenafa with a sparkler and birthday song for the birthday person - super delicious and a sweet touch! We had so many leftovers but no regrets on what we ordered. If I could list any regret at all it was that I didn't have more room in my stomach. It was all amazing and I wanted to keep eating. IF I COULD GIVE 0 STAR I WOULD I had one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life at Al Bawadi Grill during their Ramadan Iftar buffet, and I am honestly shocked by how disorganized and unprofessional this place is. The day before our reservation, on Saturday at exactly 3:37 PM, I personally called the restaurant and spoke with a woman who confirmed the Sunday Iftar buffet menu with me. After confirming the details, I made a reservation for six adults and one child. She took my full name and phone number, and everything sounded perfectly fine. The next day, just to be safe (since I was bringing my parents and family for Iftar), I called again multiple times to reconfirm the reservation. I was assured everything was set. When we arrived for Iftar, the staff suddenly claimed we never called and that no reservation existed. Despite the fact that they took my name and phone number the day before, they completely denied having any record of us. Instead of honoring the reservation or even apologizing, they dumped us into some ugly overflow banquet extension area that looked nothing like the actual restaurant. It felt like we were shoved aside like an afterthought. To make matters worse, the food in that extension area was terrible and nothing like the menu that was described to me on the phone. The quality was extremely disappointing, especially considering this was supposed to be a special Ramadan Iftar with family. What made it even worse was that we were not the only ones. Multiple families showed up expecting their reservations, only to be told the same thing and redirected to that same awful extension area. Clearly this is a pattern of poor management and dishonesty, not a one-time mistake. This was embarrassing, frustrating, and incredibly disrespectful, especially when you are hosting your parents and family for an important meal during Ramadan. Between the dishonest lost reservation, disorganized staff, misleading information about the buffet, and terrible food, this was easily the worst dining experience I have had in a long time. I would not recommend this restaurant for Iftar or any special occasion unless you enjoy showing up to find out your reservation "doesn't exist." Completely unacceptable. read more

Found a literal drumstick bone in my chicken shawarma. 5: when I picked up my order I checked it in the car to make sure I got everything, they forgot the Humus, I go inside again and tell the woman politely, she doesn't know that I'm Arab, so she curses me out while getting the humus saying "kus umali khalafak". Al Bawadi is a staple and a must! Great for small or large groups, incredible options for everyone. Of course, we typically get the mixed grill, which gives you a nice taste of all of their meat options. Mixed grill comes with a nice serving of rice and some hummus or salad. The pita is phenomenal and always comes out warm! Chicken toshka...no words for how good these are. To drink, you have to try the mint lemonade, it's incredibly refreshing. One of my favorite places to get Middle Eastern food in Chicago and the suburbs. I've mentioned before that I've had some very hit or miss experiences with Middle Eastern food in Chicago, but every meal I've had at Al Bawadi Grill has been excellent. Huge portions, great prices, and good service. Bridgeview has a large selection of Middle Eastern restaurants and it's the place in the Chicagoland area where I've had some of the most consistently good Middle Eastern meals. It's a little out of the way for me unfortunately but I've found it to be worth the trip when I'm craving some good shawarma. Al Bawadi Grill is definitely one of the best places I've found here. read more
