Gym shoe sandwich! I did eat some so yummy
    Carla D.

Love this place!! I have always gone here however they have added so many new items ! On 9/15 I purchased an Italian beef meal and a gym shoe sandwich ! Omg!! The fries, the sandwiches amazing! So yummy ! My food totaled $50 which seemed pricey, but the portions are plentiful! Needless to say I'll be going back today !!

    #30 Spicy Hot Link
    Gisselle R.

I had gotten a #30 Spicy Hot Link, I was greatly disappointed but amused at the same time lol. My links were so tiny, I was so annoyed I paid almost $11 for the skinniest link I've ever seen. I was about to take a bite and noticed how dry it was so I sat it back down. I poked it and noticed it was so stiff lol then I picked it up and it literally snapped in half when I pulled it apart. I brought it back, they made me another and thank god the new one came back normal. Unfortunately, the entire meal was bland. - star for the dry link and another -for lack of flavor. Love mom and pop shops but didn't have the best experience at this one today.

I can be your gyros, baby.
    Shay B.

You've got to get the gyros here. The tzatziki sauce is really something special if you like a 'lil sweetness with your nicely seasoned Yee-Ros. I had the good fortune of eating here as a teen - I recently paid them a visit and the gyros is still as expected - hot, fresh and tasty. If you like the sauce and want extra, that'll be at an extra cost. The fries are a thin crinkle cut and they give 'em to you hot, not my cup of tea, but they'll do. Since they're located off Mannheim-mayhem, you'll want to be extra careful leaving the lot as the side street is zoned as do not enter.

$8.89 well worth the whole meal , even the sauce is on point

The cheeseburger was okay, but the patty was smaller than expected and could have used a bit more seasoning to really stand out. It wasn't bad, just a little underwhelming compared to other spots. The loaded fries were a highlight--topped with cheese, Italian beef, and fresh jalapeños. They were flavorful and absolutely massive, easily a meal on their own. We also had the breaded steak sandwich, which was decent but could have used some jalapeños for extra flavor. Portion-wise, it was very generous and easily enough for two people to share. The chicken fingers were just okay--good size, but again, a bit more seasoning would have helped. The mushrooms were solid, and the onion rings were better than most--big and crispy--but there were quite a few broken pieces. We also tried the famous cannoli shake, which tasted exactly like you'd expect--a cannoli in liquid form. If you like cannolis, you'll probably enjoy it. Overall, not a bad spot with generous portions and friendly service, but some items--especially the burgers--could use a bit more flavor and a larger patty to really stand out.

I visited Poor Boy because I was hungry, and in the mood to try something featured on their menu…read moreafter leaving a nearby park. The interest in visiting has always been there because I work nearby and ever since I tried their fries which were ordered by my coworker, I wanted to visit. Poor Boy sits along Roosevelt Rd in a high traffic area in Maywood. The parking lot itself is private with an acceptable number of parking spaces available. While pulling my vehicle into a parking space, I could not ignore the smell of the food looming in the air which built anticipation to enter. Once I entered, I stood in a line which gave me time to browse the menu as the customer ahead of me ordered. After the customer ordered, the employee took my order, giving off an enthusiastic vibe in the process. Here I was thinking that I would visit and order just fries, but nope! That changed once I saw the fish sandwich on the menu as an option. I was asked by the employee if I wanted the combo instead and I accepted! Now best believe I was not going to visit Poor Boy and not order those delicious fries that my coworker knows that I love. My order was completed in no more than 8 minutes, and I was well on my way. I opted out of dine-in, choosing to take my order to go because I did not want to be in the area long. We all know how terrible the traffic is in the area, and I had no interest in being out in it. Moreover, the restaurant appeared decently clean, and the atmosphere gave off a fast-food restaurant vibe. And inside, there were an acceptable number of tables with seats inside of the dining area. Upon getting inside of my vehicle I could not resist eating those fresh tasting fries before even driving out of the parking space, tehehe. It was a good thing that I had them in my lap eating them because they helped calm my nerves while being amongst impatient drivers along Roosevelt Rd. I swear! The elastic on my panties is wearing out from having to pull them up, just to deal with impatient drivers on the road. I must admit that food cures anything, but I do wish that the employees did not chunk extra un-bagged loose fries inside of the bag, burying my fish sandwich underneath in the process. I mean come on, sheesh! The first bite of the fish sandwich left me with a mouth full of fish, lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce! However, the first words out of my mouth after swallowing that first bite was, "Mmm, that is good!". I have to say that the fish sandwich swayed the rating I had intended on giving Poor Boy because of those loose fries. I am glad that I finally considered visiting because it would have prolonged the chance of tasting their fish sandwich. I could very well re-visit and order from Poor Boy again because it sits in an area that I frequent. Whenever that visit depends on the craving of my tastebuds at the time. I'm really glad that we tried poor boy. We walked in past 11 PM and they had the lobby closed so you had to order through a speaker through like a glass window so there's no indoor or outdoor seating past a certain time. I'm guessing for safety. The menu is pretty big, but we scrolled through yelp beforehand just to see what we liked and kind of had an idea walking in so we ordered our food and I would say it took no more than 10 minutes to get it. We took it back to the hotel and the super that we ordered was massive. It's enough for two people to share. In my opinion. The bread was really fresh and the ingredients tasted fresh as well. I'm not sure if it was the condiments or maybe they put oil on the sandwich but I don't think it would last a second day because the bread was starting to get soggy, but it tasted really good. The size of the garlic fries was also great. We were able to share that and it tasted so garlic and delicious. It also had a seasoning I think it was Cajun but not sure because it wasn't spicy but that tasted good too. I wish I could've eaten both more fresh, but unfortunately, we had to take it back to the hotel But the fries and the sandwich still tasted great an hour later.
