    My meal

Was happy to see the Corned Beef Factory location on Roosevelt Road. Super friendly staff, took my order and my sandwich was ready quickly. My hot corned beef was delicious and came with a pickle. My tip, eat in the dine in area and experience your meal as soon as possible!

If you're in the west loop and in the mood for a corned beef or pastrami sandwich, something different from the popular Italian deli down the street, go to The Corned Beef Factory! Great sandwiches. Homemade chips. Hits the spot.

I passed by this place as I was heading home from the West Loop and it caught my eye because a corned beef sandwich sounded like it would hit the spot as a place to grab a late lunch. It was a surprise how early they closed because they're a sandwich joint with fewer than ten sandwich options, none of which are particularly breakfast themed. I've never seen a restaurant with such a narrow focus but they know their niche and do it well. The rueben I ordered was really good. As someone said, it's not the biggest sandwich you'll ever have but it was well made and I wasn't hungry afterward. The employees were friendly and helpful. Parking is only street, and because it's Lake Ave street parking can be a bit tricky (and expensive). Luckily the el runs right along here. I am rarely in this area so I don't know when I'll be back, and there's so many restaurants around here that I'd probably want to try another, but it's a solid option.

Great Ruben sandwich. The gentleman working was very kind and let us try the meats before picking what sandwich we wanted. Great prices for how much you get.

One of the few spots in west loop that force you back in time. Place is OG, food is delicious and prices are unreal reasonable for Fulton market. So far I've tried the Tom & Jerry, the Reuben and the corned beef. Each and every sando is credible and the winner is the meats. The kettle chips are simply unrealistic and stay crunchy for a while. You will entirely miss this place if you're not specifically looking for it. Place is a bang for your buck but don't expect Manny sized sandwiches. They are smaller but MORE than plenty for 1 persons meal. Overall- one of my favorite Fulton market lunch spots!

This is our second day in a row visiting and getting lunch. Yes, it's that good! These guys don't chince on the meat and it's all good! The guy behind the register was super nice and helpful! The place is clean with a great vibe! Folks on and out and gives off the traditional sandwich shop vibe. You can tell a lot of locals come here! Seems like everyone knows each other. Oh yeah, it seems as though the chips are homemade. Crispy and light! Check it out!

I appreciate the simplicity of the place. You know it's going to be great because there are only 9 sandwiches to choose from, so much more focus with a limited menu. I had the Tom and Jerry so that I could have both the corned beef and pastrami. Flavor was excellent but maybe I am being too picky but admittedly could have had a bit more meat seeing pictures from others makes me feel I got slightly short changed. Service was quick and prices are reasonable.

Yes! Yes! Yes! This place is the real deal. They make their own pastrami and corned beef. And it is absolutely worth it. Peppery and juicy and fabulous. The menu is small and simple but on point. I ordered the Tom & Jerry with spicy mustard. Everything is served on rye. The chips are homemade-super thin cut and crispy. It was every bit of two meals for me. The place is super clean. A simple shotgun dining room with very few seats. The staff is friendly.

Very respectable sandwiches. ..not amazing or particularly memorable, but good. Nice portions and product quality. Fumare Meats & Deli was my go to in this area for pastrami, but the legend that was recently closed their doors. Friendly service, neat packaging, quality ingredients. Not better than Manny's and definitely can't compete with Hershel's Eastside Deli in the Philadelphia Terminal Market. Hershel's is #1 in my book. Honestly 3.33 stars, but considering everything that's going on, I'm giving a generous 4 star rating.

I like that their shop now has spacious indoor seating. The staff were nice. The meat quality and portions are good. Prices are a few dollars cheaper than Manny's Deli AND sandwiches come with chips. I think the rye bread and meats are tastier at Manny's Deli though. Chips were very good - lightly crunchy and right amount of salt.

As soon as I walked in, I saw so many goodies I knew I was taking home. They had a very well curated selection of fancy condiments from small makers, rare ingredients, and the highest quality version of many every day foods! Everyone behind the counter was so friendly and knowledgeable. I had to try one of their sandwiches and got the salmon po boy at their recommendation. It was really well seasoned and super fresh with a very generous slice of fish on it. Definitely coming back for another one next time I'm in the area! Carnivore in Oak Park…read more This is a butcher shop and fish market that also sells sandwiches I can't really decide if the old time decor is by design or if the place is really needing an upgrade. I actually think it's the latter. It's a lot smaller than I imagined with very limited seating. We went here for the grilled salmon sandwich. We had seen many online reviews saying it is amazing. They make the sandwiches right in front of you, so you know that they are fresh. We took our sandwiches to go and by the time we got them home , they were cold. The fries traveled well, but again they were also cold bu the time we got home. The grilled salmon sandwiches were very good, but not great , and I really would have loved to have eaten it warm. Prices are on the high side for the butcher meats. But I guess you should expect that since they are an artisanal butcher. I did not like the look of some of the meats in the cases. Would we go back? Maybe to try the Bacon Burger. But we would definitely recommend eating your food in the butcher shop and not taking it to go. I have just found out that that are moving into Carnival Grocery in Oak Park.

What really makes this place stand out for me is the variety. Sometimes when looking for vegan food, the options can feel pretty limited to fried foods, burgers, wings, etc, but here, you can find more prepared meals, pastas, soups, salads, plus the desserts are a DREAM. Absolutely outstanding! GOTTA BE BACK SOON!

Markedly below average food. Ordered the rainbow rolls, Grace's teriyaki, Burmese noodle salad, and…read morethe green tea cheesecake. Adequate service and totally unremarkable ambiance. The rainbow rolls consisted of plain, uncooked vegetables wrapped in rice paper, accompanied by peanut sauce as well as a vinegar dip. There was absolutely no taste to the rainbow rolls, and the peanut sauce tasted like peanut butter that had been microwaved for twenty seconds. The vinegar dip was the only thing that salvaged the rolls. The teriyaki did not come as advertised. There were chunks of glazed soy in brown rice - no other veggies in the bowl itself. There was a side salad that I dumped into the bowl to add some crunch and texture. The glazed soy was tasty but the rice was remarkably bland and mushy. This regime of blandness continued with the Burmese noodle salad: some of the flavours had potential and the dish might have been tastier if those flavours were accentuated, but instead it was a bowl of noodles and assorted vegetables with no compelling taste or texture. The cheesecake was both too sweet and remarkably bitter at the same time. It was fine texturally but the sweetness was overwhelming. The layer of tea on top of the cheesecake added some bitterness. The two flavours were totally incongruous. I have never wasted dessert before - if I can't finish it I take it home, but this dessert was so inedible that even at nine dollars it was not worth salvaging. Service was fine and the food came out quickly. The location of the restaurant in downtown Oak Park was nice - there was some sort of music festival going on outside that made an otherwise aggressively mediocre meal more bearable. Overall, I do not recommend this establishment.

Takeaway: Great bread, disappointing flavor, and an impersonal ordering experience…read more The Original Steak & Hoagies had been on my radar thanks to several positive reviews and the promise of authentic Philadelphia bread delivered fresh. Naturally, I had to give it a try. The location is easy to miss -- tucked into a small strip mall by the train tracks -- and the interior was empty except for one employee and a customer picking up an order. When I walked in, the employee didn't acknowledge me. After standing there for a moment, I noticed a self‑order screen near the counter, identical to their online ordering interface. Once I placed my order, the employee immediately began preparing my food. The only interaction I received was when he called my name to pick it up. I ordered the small Original Cheesesteak meal. The bread was the highlight: soft, fresh, and exactly what you'd expect from real Philly bread. Unfortunately, the rest of the sandwich didn't live up to the hype. The meat had very little flavor, and the vegetables and minimal cheese overwhelmed what little taste there was. The "small" size is roughly an 8-inch sub. I also tried the Wisconsin cheese curds. They were made with white cheddar and tasted almost identical to what you'd get at Culver's -- nothing special. The combo totaled $22.66, which felt steep for a meal that left a lot to be desired. If you're going strictly for the bread, it's worth a stop. Otherwise, the experience and flavor fall short of expectations.
