We were in LaGrange for an Art Fair and thought we would stop in for some empanadas. Outside they had a large menu with their offerings and it stated 3 for $15. When we went in we were told not to pay attention to the menu outside and they were not offering the 3 for $15. We wanted the corn empanadas, but it would have been a 15 min wait, so we tried the caprese and chicken. Both were very good. Sauces are extra. Trying this place for the first time after I heard they offer a couple vegan empanadas on the menu. I ordered the potato and bean one, but it wasn't already in the case, so they made a fresh one which took about 15 min. Good to know if you're just picking up to call ahead. We were trying to find a snack to hold us over until dinner time and came across this shop in downtown La Grange. They had about 14 kinds of empanada. We tried the tuna, ham and cheese, pepperoni, and corn. All four were delicious, flaky, flavorful and tasty. Reasonably priced at $2.75 a piece, this was a perfect little place to come and get a snack or lunch. I did notice that you can buy the empanadas frozen and they also have soup you can take to go. I'm sure we'll come back to either get some for weeknight snacks or bring to a party. They're very versatile and authentic to Argentinian empanadas. read more

Is there really a need for me to post a third review? Yes, there is. Once again, empanadUS does its thing and does it very well. These small crusty filled items are delicious and are a welcome change from the typical "fast food" places. I'm not putting down the two leading burger and fries purveyers, I like them as much as anyone, but these empanadas with their wide variety of flavors can't be equaled by a burger. While empanadUS generally has a stock of ready to eat empanadas, I dig it when I'm told there could be a ten to fifteen minute wait for my order. That guarantees my food is going to be hot, crispy and fresh, and they don't disappoint. The restaurant seems to be kept clean and the bright decor, sans any advertising posters, gives off a good feeling sort of vibe. There are restrooms for customers, also kept clean. Of course, prices have gone up a couple of times. What used to sell for $2.79 is now priced at $3.29, with canned soda and bottled water going for $1.80. Our two person meal today which included seven empanadas (two to take home) and one can of soda came to over $27.00. A bit steep I thought but these days it's easy to drop a minimum of forty to fifty dollars on lunch. One last thing. This would've and should've been a five star review. After dining, my friend and I wanted to sit outside for a spell before moving on. The restaurant has three compfortable benches and a wrought iron table that customers (I assume) leave in shambles. Spilled drinks, napkins and food bits are traces left behind. We sat for a moment until my partner couldn't stand it any longer and I felt the same as she. The owner needs to pay attention to that because it's what greets you when you're about to enter. Mind you, this is not a reflection of either the food or interior. read more

Very cute how they have what is stamped on there. The chicken was good and the spinach one was okay. I also got a banana nutella dessert which was good. I also got a alfajor. So sad I don't live closer! I had a perk from Grubhub and decided to try out this place and glad I did. The menu is simple and straightforward with all kinds of varieties of empanadas--14 in fact, including a couple of vegan ones. I ordered 3--ham and cheese, chicken and a vegan spinach and mushroom. Was thrilled to also see different types of alfajores on the menu too! I could see that they had coconut, milk/white chocolate/nutella, I ordered a coconut one and was excited since I have lived in Argentina before and always crave those little desserts especially when freshly baked. When I came in for pickup the smell was heavenly. I could see freshly baked empanadas in a glass case along with freshly made alfajores. I was also impressed with their refrigerator with a couple of items including boxes of empanadas you could take home with you as well as a couple of premade soups from the fridge. I also see that they deliver for a cost of five dollars! Worth it in my opinion if you live in the area. As for the flavors of the empanadas they were excellent--flaky, lots of flavor, filling. Cute how they printed the type of the empanada in the crust. However, after the empanadas were over, I eagerly looked in the box and bag for the alfajor and it was missing. :( I was so bummed! By then I was nearly 50 mins away from the location and couldn't go back. I was sad that my order which consisted of only 4 items didn't make it. The fillings were hot and really good. We ordered 10 to try the variety. The nutella/banana was soft and gooey deliciousness. The corn was like eating corn chowder in a baked dough. Yum! The beef and chicken were good. We also liked the tuna. Mushroom empanadas were also tasty. We have not eaten the apple pie. Next time, we'll try a different variety. The stew looked really good, too, and we want to try that next time. Since we bought the 10, the price was $2.25 for each, including the dessert emanadas. It was worth it. Came here on opening week. The only reason I found out about this place is that I received a flyer in the mail...and if your bring the flyer in you get a free empanada! This place is very small and like someone mentioned the seating is all wrong. Good thing I was taking it to go. If you do plan on taking your order to go they actually sell the empanadas frozen where you can heat them at home yourself. I didn't order them frozen though. I ordered: Mushroom (My Favorite!) Why have I been craving these things....when I never had them before? Probably too much food network but being that this was my first experience with empanadas. I'm glade to cross this off my food bucket list. I took a chance on coming here vs. the original location over on Riverside despite them both being about the same driving distance. The only difference I think it is the gelato is packaged in containers. (not sure if this is franchise or actually the 2nd store.) but either way this location is great area and the employees were very welcoming when I walked in. Although I'm not a starbucks fan sitting at table with a computer. Did notice the free Wi-Fi sign and could see coming here and people watching at the window or in front of the bench outside. Came in around 7pm and only had a few empanadas in the window but told me that they would make whatever I wanted. Got a variety between bacon, beef, BBQ pork, chicken, Came with chimichurri sauce on the side (which needs to be shaken constantly before pouring them on as the oil rises to the top and spices drops fast to the bottom.) They reminded me of mini calzone. Bacon wasn't what I was expecting as this is more for breakfast time item. chicken was excellent. Beef although good to many olives. BBQ pork was good wish a litter better BBQ sauce but would ordered it again. Ordered empanadas for work and they were pretty amazing. When we called in the customer service was horrible but the food made up for it. Got to try a little bit of everything but personally my fav was the one that tasted like a pizza! The outside of the empanadas are to die for! Defiantly want to order from here again!
