Disgusting breakfast. I ordered huevos rancheros and they had a sweet nasty flavor eggs tasted like the cheapest eggs out there. Disgusting I had to throw it out the only salvage was the rice and beans. Who ever the cook is on a Sunday is horrible

Certainly seems like there's a lot of these surprisingly good little Mexican restaurants around this area. It doesn't look like anything special from the outside, and the inside isn't anything special either. Tamales Don Misael has authentic Mexican choices in Lyons including of course tamales. Also burritos. You can get your full for cheap with a combo or a lunch. After getting here for the first time we weren't expecting much out of it. It didn't look like the food could be that good, but it was better than it looked. The cheap prices made it better too. Be sure to get an authentic drink. It's $2 for a cup, including of Jamaica, which is the hibiscus water. Has a sweetness to it but not too much. The food is what brought us here though. Among the stuff ordered was a Vegetarian Burrito. It's $8 for a big one. A filling lunch. This was stuffed with beans, rice, and vegetables. Comes with cheese and sour cream. This is vegan without getting either of these. Have to say it beat expectations. It makes for a hearty it cheap lunch. There's choices for both meat eaters and vegetarians.

Que delicioso! Just wow. Best restaurant tamales I've ever eaten, hands down. This is coming from someone very particular about my tamales. I make my own tamales at Christmas time and the ones from Tamales Don Misael are similar to them. They are the perfect size, full of a perfectly steamed masa and lightly seasoned. Very generous with the fillings but not overfilled. What I particularly liked was there was a good selection of vegetarian options. They were unfortunately sold out of the bean and cheese tamale so I opted for Tamales preparados (and chose two rajas con queso tamales). I was curious to see how the tamales were served. The red zesty sauce on top was amazing and it was covered in melty white cheese. Mmm mm! I also couldn't resist and got a Quesadilla de masa (queso). It was hot and loaded with gooey mozzarella cheese, all wrapped up in a huge homemade tortilla. The complimentary green sauce and red salsa with chips was amazing, so much flavor. They were out of horchata so I got a Jamaica hibiscus water beverage. It was fruity and delicious. Our server was so friendly and chatty. We enjoyed talking with her. Bathroom is super clean (bonus). Excellent food -- now go get yourself a dozen tamales!

We had an order delivered through uber eats on 4/19/25 . They got the food here on time but the food was dry Brunt and did not taste good .Called several times to speak to manager but he/or she never called me back . We always order from there without no problems and they were very good I work a U Chicago Medicine Adventhealth Hinsdale Hospital and we order there plenty of times . Very upsetting poor customer service from the Staff.

    Tamale oaxaqueños with salsa verde.

Everyone has waited for a long time for this place to open. Years and I'm not kidding. Finally having some free time due to being a trucker I decided to stop by and see what this place was about. I ordered 6 tamales oaxaqueños en salsa verde for pickup to compare how they are when you order take out. I will update later with on that... First appearance walking in the kitchen has a glass window and it's very clean and open feeling. They have a few tables (6) and a couple single seating options at the kitchen window counter so you get the view of the working kitchen. The kitchen was very clean and the ladies there were very clean and efficient. They have a self serve coffee station to the left and the seating to the right of the pickup counter. I first ordered a tamale oaxaqueño en salsa verde. They were on the small size at first appearance. There was a decent amount of meat and sauce but the tamale was really small. For the price you're paying I was expecting something a lot bigger. It was pretty flavorful and light texture which was pretty nice. It's not dense like most places. The tacos were.... Amazing. The meat was soooo flavorful. The steak was super tender and juicy. It was done perfectly. The seasoned pork was just as amazing. The tortillas are authentic house made. The maza was fresh and I swear I was back on the ranch. I wish I could buy the tortillas only and take them home. I only wished they had salsa in the bottles at the tables. The food was really good and great tasting. The quality was there and the service was great. It's very clean and the hour I was here.... Super busy on a Saturday 11:30-12:30. If you're the owner: please serve salsas at the tables or at least serve it in a bigger dish. Salsa isn't costly so I don't see where it could be a waste. Also the prices compared to portioning is very off. It felt like I over paid for the amount I got. It couldn't be a 5 start worthy establishment with a few changes. Over all, good job on the restaurant and congrats on finally opening. Gracias Don!

The bathroom also has posters and it is super cute. The only issue with this place is it appeared that the air conditioning was not working very well. It was a very hot day and it was not much cooler inside. Almost muggy inside. BUT the FOOD is awesome so we were very forgiving over the heat. We place our drinks and food orders at the same time. It seemed to take a very long time to get our drinks. Our guacamole came out first and still no drinks. We had to remind a server we hadn't gotten them yet. We finally got the drinks and our food showed up not long after. Despite the delay... the FOOD!!! Did I mention the food? Haha. The guacamole was amazing and fresh. Really good. I had the shrimp tostadas dinner and mmm mmm huge pieces of shrimp, pico de gallo and fresh avocado. My friend had the burrito dinner and other friend had the taco dinner. Everyone was very pleased with their meals and not one bite wasted. We noted there was nice outdoor seating but because it was so hot when we arrived and full sun, we chose to sit inside. It is a great menu and very nice atmosphere.

Burritos the size of a half loaf of bread…read more In looking around Brookfield for a place to eat at before we hit up Galloping Ghost Arcade, every online comment pointed to trying Taco Azteca. My dad was down for some tacos so we hit up Taco Azteca before we got to gaming. I actually drove by the place, missing the turn to get there due to the strange parking lot situation. After a loop around the block, we pull in to the shared parking lot and headed inside. My dad was looking at the menu on the drive up and was waffling between a taco salad and a burrito. Once I placed my order for a beef burrito, my dad followed up with the same thing. We tried to find a place to sit but the place isn't too conducive to eating in with the few tables they had were either taken or dirty from the prior visitor. The staff was super nice and friendly in trying to get a table cleaned up for us. We ended up snagging one and were promptly served tortilla chips with some of the best guacamole I have ever had. I'm not big on guac as I find it to taste too similar to pumpkin (everyone I tell this looks at me like I am crazy) but this stuff was delicious and had a nice kick to it. My dad found the sauce in one of the bottles to be spicy as hell and passed on using more of it. I found them to be quite yummy but I love me some heat. We nearly devoured half the chips by the time the food came out. They were that good and the food came out that fast. I'm used to Mexican-sized burritos but these might take the cake. They were MASSIVE. I showed everyone I know and their eyes got huge when they saw how big it was. The fries that came with it were those with the little bits of batter on them and I knew they were going to be good. I knew we were in for a good time. How do you even eat something that big? Very slowly and somewhat messy, that's how. I devoured half my tasty fries to free up space on my plate just in case I made a mess. Luckily, this burrito held itself together rather nicely. The burrito was super tasty but I do feel like maybe a chicken or pork version would've been better. I like beef but wasn't in the mood for it when I ate my burrito. That's on me though for not paying attention when ordering and accidentally getting beef. My dad loved his burrito and was able to put the whole thing down since he didn't eat breakfast. I had breakfast so I was only able to put down a little over half. My bottomless pit of a stomach isn't so bottomless now that I am almost 40 (a week shy of 39 during this visit). Overall, Taco Azteca lived up to the hype and was worth every bite. I really wanted to get some of the guac to go. My only warning is that the parking lot is shared and can be tight as well as the seats inside. This place serves better for carry-out if it's busy like it was when we were there.

The food, service, and ambience were truly amazing. I don't say that lightly about many places…read more Let's start with the food: it was very well-seasoned, and the portion sizes were generous. This ties into the excellent service, as the food came out relatively quickly. The staff was friendly and engaged in conversation. One standout employee, Jose, continually checked to ensure that we had everything we needed and addressed any issues we had promptly. The ambience was clean, with staff wearing gloves while cooking. They were consistently cleaning, wiping down tables, and sweeping the floors. These are just a few aspects I look for when visiting a restaurant or food establishment.
