Walking into Riky's, the smell of the food hit me right away. I knew I was in for a good meal when I could smell everything cooking before I even sat down. The restaurant has that classic Mexican restaurant look and a welcoming atmosphere. From our table, we could see straight into the kitchen, which was busy the entire time with food being prepared and coming out. The staff were really nice and welcoming, checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed. I ordered the Asada Sope Dinner, and wow... these things were massive. Each sope was packed with meat and covered with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and crema, with a layer of beans underneath holding everything together. It was basically a little mountain of food on each plate. The sopes themselves were crispy and crunchy around the edges. The beans added a warm, savory layer underneath, while the crema brought some coolness and richness to everything. The meat was the star for me. It was juicy and tender with those little charred edges that gave it a smoky, grilled flavor. These were honestly epic. Had a take out order last night the first time I've been there in a couple years. I used to love this place. I had their Pazole soup and as I remembered it, it was fantastic. That's why I went there. But after that, it was sort of downhill We had a shredded pork burrito. It tasted OK but a lot of gristle and unrecognizable stuff in the ingredients. We also had fish tacos, and I very was surprised to find that they were basically fried fish sticks in it tortilla And last, but not least we had a stuffed chile Relleno taco that did not look or taste appetizing at all I was very bummed I used to love this place. I absolutely recommend this place! Great service and great food. This place makes me miss living in the area and now I would drive an extra 20+ minutes just to enjoy a meal at Ricky's / Tony's. I have had multiple things on the menu so far but the Cowboy Burrito is definitely one of my favorite. This restaurant is one of the last standing restaurants that gives you tortilla chips before your meal, my absolute favorite thing when eating out. The vibes are good and usually get seated right away, I also noticed they have an outdoor patio/seating area too! Fajita tacos are to die for too...man o man. Went today with the family after we visited the zoo. Saw it was close (6 min drive and 4.5 stars). First impression it was packed so we were excited because that must mean good food. Happy to see they have a dine in side because the take out side is small. My family was seated quickly they brought out chips and salsa. Nice touch. I ordered the skirt steak taco dinner meal $15. The rest ordered burritos and single tacos. Burritos are a nice size however don't get the ground beef. The meat is sweet and not like your typical seasoned ground beef for tacos. 1 burrito wasted and two tacos in the trash. However.... the skirt tacos were AMAZING! They are flavorful, tender, and extremely meaty! I'll order them again for sure. I didn't need the meal because I couldn't even eat the beans and rice with it. I am not a fan of the beans and rice either so next time I'll just get the skirt steak tacos. Oh and I hate they only have beers and no margaritas or other cocktail options. Lastly be prepared to get your own fountain drink it's self service which can be a pain since it's a small place. Over priced, no customer service skills at all. The company policy according to the supervisor and manager. Couldn't open a register at certain time of the day even though they had several employees laughing or sweeping the floors. The line got so big and I asked two women if they could open a register, I had a full shopping cart full of groceries and they said, they couldn't. Their explanation was none sense, ridiculous. The review is mainly for the quality of food and large portions - enchilada dinner, sopes, chorizo and egg tacos, steak burrito, and fries. The waitress we had seated us right away however she seemed to struggle with menu items. She ended up bringing us the wrong order and insisted that I ordered incorrectly. Thankfully another waitress and manager came over to confirm the correct entree. They ended up not charging for the mistake but service after that was downhill. I got the lengua quesadillas which were extremely well done. For first timers, I would put out there that it came with 3 quesadillas as opposed to just the one so try different meats.
