I also checked Yelp and saw that they had a 4.3-star rating, so we decided to give it a try. It turns out Tortello only accepts walk-ins and does not take reservations. You order from the menu board behind the cashier and pay at the counter, including the tip, before your food is served. You are then given a number to place on any available table. Drinks are picked up from the counter, while the servers bring the cooked food to your table. Staff were friendly and patient. We were not familiar with the menu and it took us a while to decide what to order. It is a rather small pasta place with a row of small tables with banquette and chair seating indoors. We found a table on the outdoor patio in the front which was nice. I had a Zero Proof Hugo Spritz ($10), which was more like a soda. My husband had a glass of House White Wine ($10), and my daughter ordered an Aperol Spritz ($15). For food, my husband and I each ordered a Squid Ink Bucatini ($32 x 2) - Prawns, roasted tomato butter, cherry tomatoes, and garlic scrapes. It was also recommended by the cashier. The flavors were good, but each plate had only 3 prawns, with the detached heads included, which made the plate look a little more filled. My husband felt that the prawns weren't particularly fresh and said that 1 of his 3 seemed close to being stale. Portions were not large, it was enough for me though. For this price point, it was just okay. My daughter did not complain about her Cacio e Pepe ($24) - Spaghetti alla chitarra, imported aged pecorino and pepper. I shared a couple of bites, although the pasta was tasty, it was too al dente and hard to chew. Although we enjoyed the ambiance and service, the food of the night was a bit disappointing. A casual meal that cost $140 before tip was a bit on the pricier side. It included a 3% "Wellness Surcharge". With tips the meal came to $160. We had desserts from the Original Rainbow Cone right next door, which was a nice way to finish the evening. .
