I love this place! Came yesterday after eating at Bighorn next door and was so happy to be there! Great vibes, great selection, great prices!!! I live in Carson so we frequent Dutch Bros over Starbucks but I wish we had a good local place like this one. read more

The best coffee in the Reno-Carson City area. I literally drive from Carson to purchase the whole bean. Their pastries are great as are their flavored coffees. Thank you, Sarah for a fabulous product. read more

AVOID 1) inside orders are prioritized over drive-thru 2) waiting in the drive-thru window we we're repeatedly given the one finger wait but no service or verbal interaction, so then 3) my friend decided to go inside to get our orders and came immediately back out because 4) the inside was unhygienic, disgusting filthy and in need of a deep clean 5) we did not get our order and will not return. Whoever was working the 2pm shift needs a retraining at the very least. read more

the moment you walk into the purple bean, you're instantly greeted with smiles and friendly faces! they have TONS of drink options from coffee and smoothie choices. love the drive thru option as well. they also offer a variety of milk alternatives -- which is always a plus! will definitely be back any time i visit reno! read more

The chalk board is fun and keeps the kiddos entertained for a little while! The staff is kind and friendly even in the early morning! Just makes your day a little brighter. An amazing place to study, get work done or just hang. Its a wonderful coffee shop! read more

Purple Bean - Stawberry and Vanilla Smoothie - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Reno, Nevada

The ladies here were killing it here! Drive thru was packed and the line inside was packed. I'm easily pleased except for in the morning before I start my day with coffee. And damn! They most definitely started my morning right with their German Chocolate Latte, My husband got some peanut butter mocha frap. He said it was nice and not overwhelming on the peanut butter. YaY, winning! Seriously though- there were two girls working and they were killin' the coffee game! I HAD TO TIP THEM for their efforts and moving so fast with probably little to no mess ups. Ps there's chocolate covered coffee beans... I probably should've taken only one, but I took three. Naughty, but I couldn't help myself. read more

This is by far the best coffee shop in Reno. The coffee is sooooo good every time I stop by (which is quite often) & tastes like it's always made with love. The staff is also amazing. Always so kind & welcoming! This is a definite must try coffee stop when in the area! read more

I'm on a hunt trying to find local coffee shop to enjoy and so I try some once in awhile. I ordered cappuccino and it wasn't for me. It just wasn't good to me. I drank it because I needed the caffeine at that time, otherwise I would have thrown it away because it wasn't enjoyable to me. I have an espresso machine at home and I buy good (to me) coffee online, and so I have become very picky, I guess. Anyway, the service was good, she was friendly. I will try another place one of these days. read more

I meet here frequently for work with colleagues from the local school district. I've always had great service, I haven't begun to put a dent in the menu, but so far everything I've tried, I've been very happy with. They have a lot of original coffee drinks (that are cleverly named and list all the flavor sided) that you can get iced or hot. They also have yummy smoothies and Italian sodas. The setting: It's a small place with only a few tables inside, for that reason you'll never have to wait in line or deal with a crowd. I'm yet to see the place packed. There are a couple of two top tables on the patio when the weather is warm. The parking lot is a bit strange. Since this shop also has a drive thru window, there are some random spaces in front and then a big red area to not drive through. This continues to be a great meeting spot, I would hope that they'd add more decaf and sugar free options on their menu. read more

Ok so I absolutely love coffee, and when I first went to juman bean, I was with my grandma and I literally thought that this was the best chia tea coffee in the world! The people there are always so kind and caring, when they see my grandmas car they will always have here usual order ready to go! They always are passionate, and that passion you can definitely taste! Prices are also fairly decent! Which is great for an on the go coffee in the morning or when you feel a little tired and need that mid- day boost! read more

One of the best coffee companies in Reno! The Purple Bean is located on 7th street, west of the Rayley's grocery store. I have known about the Purple Bean for a while now and never thought to ever stop and grab a coffee. The customer service is excellent, the girls that work in there are super nice and always remember you (or they make you feel that way at least). The Purple Bean is very clean inside and if you do not want to go inside you can always take advantage of the drive thru. Either option you choose, rest assured you will receive the same great coffee and excellent customer service. I typically get either a latte or house coffee. The flavor of both are fantastic! The price was very affordable. My latte with 2 shots cost $3.65 and my coffee was $2.20. If you want to support local the Purple Bean is about as local as it gets! read more

This place does not charge extra for milk substitutes. Perfect for those with lactose sensitivity. Great drive by coffeeshop. I like to get there cappuccinos to go. They have specialty teas and coffee. It's a hidden gem behind the Raleys, be careful not to miss the entrance. If you do it's ok park at the lot next door and just walk in and order. Try not to stress and give yourselves sometime to order. If you're new go inside and try something different. It's a cute local place and the customers are also friendly and help give you some recommendations. Has a true reno vibe! Big town with small town kindness. read more

Great little independent coffee shop. A huge drink menu but my usual is 3 shots of espresso over ice. The gals are great. I don't know their names. They don't know mine. Yet they always know my drink and make it perfectly. Sure at times there is a wait at the drive thru. Trust me it's always worth it. Plus the coffee is really budget friendly. In Reno I've paid as much as $7.50 for 3 shots of espresso (note to self-check bill before handing over my credit card). At the Purple Bean it's only $1; if I remember to bring my own sippy cup it's only 75 CENTS! I love a bargain and great service! read more

Been here everyday for the last week or so and the it's amazing the drinks are delicious!

Coffee and tea spot. Drinks are always a delight and I enjoy it much more than Starbucks. That being said I will not be returning as most of the workers weren't wearing masks. Only the cashier wore a mask and everyone else was barefaced. Until I hear and see otherwise this will be my review. read more

They offer drive thru and a small lounge area. The menu has a good variety and you can usually look for a monthly special drink. They are a small business and usually only have 2 employees at a time. With that being said I have expected a wait when they are busy but they are efficient with their timing. read more

Drink are good but always served lukewarm. I always tip a lot and not sure why... I go home and heat my drink up every time

This is my spot!! My EASY go to drink (iced dirty chai) has been perfected by the Purple Bean girls! They're always super nice and attentive. Their drink is always super tasty, has a great coffee flavor & can be modified with any type of milk. I try to get there with time as the line can get very backed up and unfortunately slow moving at times. You can tell this place has been around for many many years and is a true local gem in Reno. Glad it's in the neighborhood! read more

Great coffee drinks here. I have been here twice so far and both times have been awesome. I came here today with some friends to grab a drink. When we got here there were two cars at the drive thru and two ahead of us inside. since there was only one barista she definitely had her hands full. With that being said she was super efficient and friendly. She grabbed the orders for the two in front of us and made their drinks at the same time to save some time. After she got them situated she grabbed the car that was waiting and then us. She did good alternating between both the people inside and the cars waiting outside. We placed our orders and got our drinks very quickly. Mine was the emerald city which is Irish cream, mocha and mint. Sounds a bit strange but extremely good. Especially when you get it blended up. My friend got the special of the day which was a white chocolate mocha with raspberry. It was very tasty and not overly sweet. The inside is super cute there is a chalkboard for people to draw on as well as a ton of books that you can sit and read while enjoying your beverage. I would highly recommend this place for someplace local and good read more

We have been coming here approx every other weekend for 2 years... that being said i love how they are cheaper than starbucks and their coffee has decent flavor. Good menu selections and tasty pastries. Now for the bad part, THET ARE SO SLOW!!! as i type this ive been in line waiting to order for 25 minutes already. What i spent on gas sitting here i could have go to starbucks. Either hire another person or learn how to multitask! read more

Purple Bean - Stuck in line for 30 minutez. So damn slow - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Reno, Nevada

This place has gone downhill. I stopped in and got an iced coffee while I waited for a flat to be fixed at the service station across the street. The place was decorated with dollar store Valentine's Day decorations and looked like it could use a good deep cleaning. As I sat and drank my coffee, I heard employees tell customers that they were out of multiple ingredients. The employees did a good job offering alternatives, though. My iced coffee was good. The reason for the low stars is due to a customer interaction at the drive through window. I didn't hear what the customer said, but the employee handed him his drink and told him to never come back. Then she yelled something to him about how he probably beats his girlfriend. After he pulled away, she explained that they had made him the wrong drink and he was being rude. Maybe he was, but I'm not sure if that was the best way to handle it. read more

The cashiers here are always super great! They always offer a biscuit for my dog in the drive thru and the Frescas are SO good. I recommend the blueberry one. I'm excited to try their coffees when the weather cools down a bit. read more

Came here many times to use a coupon from the local coupon book called SaveAround for a B1G1 discount. The associate running the cash register was very rude and said we never accept those even though I used it last year multiple times. She said her boss would have to be involved as they don't accept coupons ever. I tried to validate her that this is a partnership with there company and she said nope. I will not be back unless I receive an apology and explanation. Super unprofessional. read more

Easily my favorite coffee spot in town. The girls working here are so sweet, the drinks are always yummy and creative, and the drive-thru option is very convenient for those busy or cold mornings. I'm at the Purple Bean every morning and the girls always ask me if I'm getting my regular (iced vanilla chai with two shots of espresso--highly recommend trying) with a smile, even if it's 6 a.m or I was behind a rude customer. The girls are pros at making the drinks offered. I've had about 10 things off of the drinks menu at this point, and I personally have loved everything I've tried, and so have my peers that frequent there as well. Also, it's a popular spot for dog-owners, so going there might mean a pup-sighting which is always a 10/10 experience. read more

My friend and I got a Tropical Dream and Immune Booster smoothie and they were both delicious! They had a wide variety of blended drinks to choose from plus a lot of coffee options. Purple Bean - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Reno, Nevada

I love mom and pop type shops and I will always pick a local place over a national chain. The Purple bean is a cool little place off of Keystone and 7th street. So we stop by for a cup of coffee and the young lady serving us handed me my large coffee and the cup was not even warm, now the cup didn't have cup sleeve to protect you from the heat, just a white paper cup. I asked her if I could have a hot cup of coffee and you would think I just asked her to cut off her hand or something...... What a crappy attitude this gal had, she ran hot steam through the coffee to heat it up. The coffee did taste good, I will hold the crappy attitude against the business, just think the business should spend time training their young staff......... read more

I love the mom and pop feeling you get at this place. The coffee and blended drinks are a great deal for the price. I recommend 7th Heaven. : D read more

Purple Bean - Coffee at The Purple Bean - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Reno, Nevada

The snobby vibe of this place is funny considering they don't serve very good coffee. On my first visit I tried their drive-thru at about 4PM (They're open until either 5 or 6PM). They make several coffee brews daily that are posted on a board. They were out of all but the house brew, and refused to make another pot due to the late hour. They could have made 1/2 a pot, but wouldn't do that either. The coffee was no better than Costco coffee but it costs a lot more! The second time I was there, I went inside to order a latte. After taking my order, the barista got a drive-thru order for 3 drinks. She made these before making my one drink. I was surprised to be "bumped" until I saw her flirting with the customer bigtime and him tipping her $5. After that, I didn't tip her and have never been back. There is a cluttered sort of cool about the Purple Bean, though cleanliness hounds might rightly be concerned that the work area doesn't seem to be set up in a hygenic manner. I have no interest in trying to be "in" with Baristas that operate in whatever manner they like because no one's watching the hen house. Combine that with mediocre, pricey coffee and the question I have is how do they stay in business? read more

Kudos for opening at 6 a.m. and offering more than just whole milk! I recently realized that most coffee places I frequent make their coffee drinks with whole milk. (Nutritional info for 1 cup / 8 oz. Whole Milk) Total Fat 8 g 12% DV Saturated fat 4.6 g 22% DV Polyunsaturated fat 0.5 g Monounsaturated fat 2 g Cholesterol 24 mg 8% DV Their coffee drinks offerings are extensive and interesting. The specialty coffees run $3.40 for a small, $3.90 medium, $4.50 large. The last time in through their drive thru I tried their spicy chai and got the emerald city for my wife. Both were not too sweet and came at the perfect temp on a chilly morning. The service has always been friendly and I enjoy getting my coffee from a smiling face in the morning. Great job ladies! read more

I've been going to Purple Bean for 10 years and I absolutely love the unique and delicious drinks they offer. I go to UNR and had a final at 5:30 and wanted to grab a quick coffee beforehand. I pulled up to the drive thru window at 4:51 and the girl working opened it at 4:54. She said "Oh I'm sorry we just closed!" I was confused and said "Oh don't you close at 5?" She said "Well yeah but it's 5 minutes until closing and everything is washed." That was apparently the end of the conversation so I drove away. Okay. I work in a restaurant and I understand it sucks when people come a few minutes before closing. However, that's part of working in this kind of industry. I wanted a single cup of coffee, arrived before closing, wasn't helped for a few minutes, and then was told I couldn't be helped because the dishes were done. There's a Starbucks right down the street and I chose to not only to support a local business but a local business that I have gone to for years. The girl working made it very apparent they don't want business and it will be a very long time if I decide to go back. read more

On a typical day you will find delightful smoothies and very good coffee drinks all served by young, enthusiastic and friendly staff who care about what they make you. The customer service is great. That said, beware the days the owner's daughter is working. It is obvious as she is the only one who has a consistent shitty attitude and doesn't care about you. I was surprised the first time I experienced her at the drive thru window. My husband and I have gotten so spoiled over the years by the other staff and have regularly recommended this business to our friends. Just before driving away the last time I asked the girl if she would like some feedback about her service. She shrugged her shoulders and said, "I guess." I explained to her that we usually tip really well and that the reason we were not tipping her today was due to her attitude and poor customer service. Her response was even more attitude-filled as she explained that she had been working there for three years and was the owner's daughter so... In our opinion she would not still have that job if she wasn't their daughter. If she were mine at my business I would expect more of her than the rest of the staff, not to be an entitled princess who chases off long-term, and high-tipping regular customers. My husband and I are not ready to quit this business but indeed will be trying to find out what dates and times to avoid this rude human. read more

If you're into supporting local businesses over mega-chains as much as I am, this is the place for you. I go there every work day and most weekends for an inexpensive cup of great coffee. The servers are really terrific and once they know you, you don't have to order, they know what you like. The current owner, Sarah is really nice and her staff is genuinely friendly and often, a kick. Really great to start your work day off with a laugh or nice conversation. Shortly after Sarah took over she had to deal with four employees (all siblings), who walked out over a disagreement with the former owner. It was tough to deal with and some people blamed Sarah for the short-staff situation which was unfair. "The Bean" has come back better than ever and I pledge never to darken the bath towels of Starbucks while my buddies at The Bean are serving. Long live the independents! Best coffee place in Reno! The drive thru is very convenient and they are very popular. Usually have a line out to the street, but the girls working there will come out and take orders before you get to the window so it's not really that long of a wait when there is a line of cars. I love how they have specialty drinks that they advertise on the window. They come up with really interesting names for the drinks too! If I don't know what I want to order I just pick something fun off the window paintings and it's always good. They use a frequent buyer stamp card system and will also give fruit snacks to your kids in he car (if you say it's ok). They are always very nice and their prices are great. I've gone inside for my coffee a couple times but usually I'm busy and it's just easier to stay in my car. But when I do go in it's pretty cool inside too. Nice place to hang out. There's a Starbucks just down the street but the local vibe is better at purple bean. And like I said they are easier on the wallet than Starbucks as well. read more
