Clean place, amicable staff, and great service. Highly recommend visiting! Great tasking food

The entrance and how it says it's open Monday through Sunday from 9 am to 9pm

I came on a Wednesday at 10:13am and they were not open yet online and their sign says open at 9 am.

Yucca Fritta: Called "yuca frita" in Peru, it is fried cassava (yucca), often served as a side dish or snack, similar to French fries.

Puro Sabor, Pero Mal Servico Let me tell you, the food at Puro Sabor was pure flavor--puro sabor--but the service? Well, that was a different story! Imagine this: I sit down, ready to dive into some delicious Peruvian food, and I notice there are no prices on the menu. So, I ask the waitress, and her solution? "Look on Google." Yep, you heard that right, Google! Feeling a bit adventurous, I asked again, and she confidently says, "Don't worry, I know the prices in my head." Well, I don't know about you, but I prefer my prices on the menu, not stored in someone's brain! When I mentioned I wanted to speak to someone about the menu, she passed the buck with, "You'll have to talk to the manager." Meanwhile, I'm sitting there thinking, "Is the manager also on Google?" To be honest, I've had way better service at Chio's Peruvian Restaurant, where they're on top of things--prices included! The staff there makes sure you're well taken care of, no Google search required. All that said, the food at Puro Sabor? It was delicious. If only the service had matched the flavor!

Tallarines Verde con Bistec

Got the food to go but it was all delicious! Definitely recommend Papa a la Huancaina. I also got the Tallarines Verde con Bistec yum! There was also this green sauce that came with the meal it was very tasty a little spicy at first but I adjusted. The portions were decent for the price I feel.

Lomo Saltado

My favorite Peruvian restaurant in the valley. So authentic and delicious. Wonderful service. I always get the lomo saltado & an Inca cola. Perfection.

Pollo Saltado de Pollo

Lo más rico ! Im Peruvian and this is as authentic as it gets , I come Here regularly. Everything is amazing !

Choros a la Chalaca (steamed mussels topped with a ceviche-like marinade of citrus, onions, corn)
Cage H.

Just had the choros a la Chalaca here for the first time. They're steamed mussels served on the half-shell with a marinade of citrus, onions, corn, chiles, and other flavors. The effect is like a mussel ceviche and it's one of the most flavorful things I've had in a long time. The aji verde here is tasty and packs a nice punch, more capsaicin than garlic. I was excited about the causa rellena, as I don't see it on menus often in Peruvian restaurants in LA. I've had a fondness for this dish since trying it at a Peruvian-run restaurant in my home town. It was good, though not quite matching my reminiscences of Olinda's from the 1990s. Puro Sabor serves it as a slice from a roll, rather than a stuffed ovoid or ball; it's served cold with a small salad of marinated onions on the side. Service is friendly and happy to explain the dishes. I'm curious about a board listing guisos that are not on the printed menu. They also have an intriguing list of Peruvian desserts. Need to come back.

Delightful! Some…read morecolleagues and I decided to give this place a shot since we work in the area and it had a Dine LA special going on. I could tell from the moment that we were led into the dining room and saw the big grill in the back that this was going to be a fun evening! Before we even ordered, we were offered a cup of vegetable broth as a starter. The broth was excellent, and appreciated despite it being a hot and humid day. I suspect that the composition varies based on the kitchen scraps, but we all agreed that it was great. After the broth, the waiter stopped by to walk us through his recommendations and some background about the restaurant. Even though we were doing Dine LA, he was able to give us some suggestions on pairings, and I apprecaited how he walked us through each item as it was brought to the table. For the first course, we tried both the torta frita with cashew butter, and the chipas with tomato butter. I was impressed with how everythign was thorugh out - the dishes, the butter knives carved out of single pieces of wood. The flowers that popped on the otherwise plain cashew butter, the (if memory serves) toasted buckwheat seeds on the tomato butter. You eat with your eyes first, and mine were feasting while they were laying everything out! The cashew butter was slightly sweet with the honey, and it paired well with the crispy torta. Spreading the butter was a bit awkward, but we made it work. The toamto butter was likewise great. With both breads and butters, what I loved most was actually the combinations of textures. There was thought given to how the ingredients paired together. The crispy torta, for exmaple, was paired with the smooth cashew butter, while the soft chipa was paired with the "crunchy" tomato butter. The second course was likewise impressive. We mixed and matched a number of different appetizers. I can't speak for the empanada (it was devoured before I could try it!), but the hamachi crudo was fresh, tasty, and delicate, and it was fun to watch them pour the sauce on tableside. What was most impressive, however, was the burnt avocado salad, which has the most unique preparation thad I had ever seen. What looks like an unpeeled avocado is actually a peeled avocado that has been charred so that the blackened surface resembles an avocado skin! The char on the fatty avocado paired well with the bitter salad greens and the vinagraite. The crispy onions and candied lemon bits sprinkeld through out were barely visible yet added delightful little flavor bombs and some texture. For the third course, each of the entrees was excellent. Two of us ordered steaks, and I noticed that they didn't ask us for our desired doneness. While some might be squeamish, I appreciated they made the call to serve the meat how they thought was best. Their choice delivered. The steaks were great, tender and well seasoned, and with no strong herbs or spices to hide behind. That said, I tried a bite of the short rib, and I think that was even better! Someone else ordered the pork and paired it with the peppers per the waiters suggestion, and that combiantion was delightful. At the end of the meal, we decided to get deserts, which weren't included with the Dine LA. We ordered a "Ode to DDL" which was basically like a dulce de leche version of molten chocolate cake. Our second desert was a chocolate & Sabayon. I didn't read the menu description carefully enough and didn't realize that the foam... icing? topping? would have a liquor added to it. On its own it was a bit much, but together with the chocolate and the caramel it worked well together. Speaking of which, I attached a photo, but the desert came with a massive piece of caramel crisp that was a lot of fun to break with a spoon! Overall, it was an incredibly enjoyable experience. The food was great, the staff was fun, attentive, and knowledgeable, and the whole restaurant was thoughtfully put together. It was a little pricey, but I think the experience was worth it. We're already planning our next trip back!

Such a hyped up place and sooooo not worth it Tried both…read morebread starters and was not impressed by either. Hamachi crudo was absolutely awful! It seemed that it had been sitting around the wood fire and came out lukewarm in temp (NOT ok for a raw fish dish) and tasted rancid. I hate sending dishes back but this was inedible and luckily they were nice enough to swap it out for another empanada. Empanadas were fine (but Nonnas at the original farmers market is half the price and twice the flavor)! Piquillo peppers came highly recommended but they were kind of just greasy in the beef oil. Potatoes were interesting with contrasting texture of soft and crispy, but not too tasty and a small portion for the price. Pork had a decent Smokey flavor, but it was overcooked. The short rib was fine but frankly unmemorable. Overall, when you're spending roughly $300 on a nice dinner, you simply expect good food. There was not one dish I would go back for. It would be a 1 star review but we give credit to the nice server and vibey ambiance.

But don't let that deter you. Step inside and you'll be greeted with lovely service, good coffee, and Colombian favorites like arepas, buñuelos, empanadas, and Bandeja Paisa. I wasn't very hungry, but after a peek at their fresh baked goods behind the case, I quickly found a seat for myself where I could watch the tennis match on one of many TVs on the wall. Since I'm a sucker for guava, I ordered a bocadillo. It was layered with light cheese and a guava paste that wasn't overly sweet. There was also fresh guava juice and let's not forget the Colombian coffee that had some perk to it. The guava bocadilla had a made-from-scratch flavor, and so did the empanadas de carne. They were delicious and filling. The salsa was more liquid-like, but I couldn't slather enough of it on to my empanada de carne. It was so good, I ordered seconds despite my belly already feeling full. Locals slowly trickled in and before I knew it, the place was full. Every meal that came out - whether it was the banana leaf wrapped tamales that could feed a giant, or the three tier Bandeja Paisa and Montañera platters with arepas on top, each dish looked amazing. So did their lunch menu, which is served weekdays from 11am to 3pm for $14.99 and comes with soup and an entree. There's a quaint gift shop next door where you can buy nicknacks and small Colombian items. As a bookworm and fan of a good story, it was interesting to realize that this quaint little restaurant was named after the fictional town made famous by the Colombian author, Gabriel García Márquez's novel, "One Hundred Years of Solitude". As I sipped on my coffee, I was given time to reflect on my day and enjoyed a sense of solitude at my own table for one.

The meat was perfectly grilled but the chicharron was a little tough but still good. The vegan plate had much flavor -- the beans were tasty and the rice fresh. They were very generous with the plantains. The complimentary tortilla chips and salsa were so fresh and delicious. The spinach empanada was a little tough - it was crispy but there was less spinach than I would have expected and the cheese in it wasn't really melted either. Overall the food was very fresh and delicious. Parking can be tricky bc their lot fits only 3 cars. We parked a couple blocks in the neighborhood. Front of the store parking also seems limited. Service was kind and efficient. Food came out in less than 5-10 minutes. Place is well decorated and has nice seemingly traditional decor inside.
