Very cute spot that opened right by Bloomingdale's 1st floor at SCP. Aesthetically a really nice restaurant. Downfall is the limited seating. There is a chance you won't be able to find one if you're visiting during peak hours. Tried the tuna sandwich and unfortunately the ciabatta bread was not available, and had to eat the backup option. We also tried the chicken empanada which was pretty good with their dipping sauce. Full disclosure if you're looking for macro friendly food, the sandwiches are in the higher calorie side. I haven't had the chance to try any of the beverages yet. Will definitely come back.

What a great addition to South Coast Plaza! Pura Vida is a chain from Miami that values delicious and healthy food that you would feel good about nourishing your body with. Yes it's expensive but worth it in my opinion to nourish your body with real and whole foods. Their menu offerings are so vast ranging from salads, bowls, plates, sandwiches, wraps, teas/coffees, smoothies, grab n go juices, and bakery baked goods. There is definitely something for everyone. Staff here is very attentive and kind and I love the decor of the dining area. It feels like you've been transported to the coast of Miami despite being in the mall.

Tried Pura Vida Miami at South Coast Plaza and went with a chocolate croissant and a protein bar. The chocolate croissant was actually really good--flaky on the outside, soft inside, and the chocolate wasn't overly sweet. It felt fresh and light, not greasy like some pastries can be. The protein bar was solid too. Didn't have that super artificial taste a lot of protein snacks have. It was filling without feeling heavy, which fits the whole clean/healthy vibe they're going for. The spot itself is super aesthetic--bright, clean, and a nice break from the busy mall. Service was quick and everything felt pretty streamlined. Only thing is it's a bit on the pricier side for what you get, but that's kind of expected for the location and brand. Overall, good quick stop if you want something light but still satisfying at South Coast. I'd come back to try more of their menu.

VEGAN WALNUT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE

I've been wanting to check this spot out and glad to do so today! Very busy for lunch but ended up getting a table eventually. The service is the star of the show! Miguel was wonderful! We ordered the empanada trio (one of each: chicken, beef and spinach). Chicken was the best, beef was our least fave. Walnut chocolate chip cookie was not from the freshly made counter, but packaged, however, it was excellent. The pesto chicken sandwich was excellent as well. I think price points are a little high, but it's worth it. The vanilla latte was great and the dragon fruit refresher, which we later got instead of the strawberry matcha was def refreshing and light! Would order that again! Bathrooms felt a little dirty, but loved the decor and vibe. We will come again for breakfast.

Really nice service. Very bright and open. The food is fresh. Not sure how healthy it is re calories but ingredients were great. The best is the pesto chicken sandwich. Perfect balance. The bread was excellent. The empanadas are good. We like the chicken and the spinach the best. I didn't like the iced strawberry matcha but I can see why others would. The vegan chocolate chip cookie was good. Solid cookie. Best vegan cookie I've had

Ive heard about the opening of this new spot which offers healthy options. Located next to bloomingdales on the first floor. We stopped by for a quick bite around dinner time and there was no line. We got the protein pancakes which came with eggs and some berries. Surprisingly it was really good! The protein pancakes were light and fluffy and just a hint of sweetness. I got the Caesar salad wrap which was nice and refreshing! I was happy that the chicken was warm and not cold. Really nice with the dressing on the side. Came with some pita chips for that nice crunch. We also got a smoothie and matcha. The smoothie was a bit too sour for me but it has no added sugar. Overall the food was great and i dont feel bad eating it. The staff was friendly! Plenty of seating but i can imagine they'll get packed on the weekends.

Pura Vida Miami has some healthy menu options. The salmon bowl is great, and the pesto chicken sandwich is good also. The drinks and pastries are pricey, but pretty good. Parking in the structure can be easy at the right time of day. It's a nice place to meet for breakfast or lunch, although it gets loud.

Stopped by for something quick to eat before shopping. The over night oats was okay, pretty bland in my opinion. My friend got the avocado smash toast & said it was very refreshing. The drinks were my favorite! I love a good fruit smoothie. The restaurant was pretty small & you have to order first then pick a seat. They bring the food out to you. I'd definitely come back for another smoothie soon. Overall experience was good & service was great! Friendly staff, they made sure to check up on us from time to time.

FALAFEL CRUNCH

I'm so glad my teammate at work told me about Pura Vida! It is so delish! Yes, it's expensive so it's not a routine location for me, but I will come when I feel like a healthy, yet scrumptious meal. I first came here for a drink and had the strawberry matcha. Usually you worry that those drinks have so much sugar and calories. Well, not at Pura Vida! It wasn't too sweet, just perfect. Yesterday I went for lunch and was immediately attracted to the falafel crunch wrap. I thought I'd only eat half, but ate the whole thing. It was so, so good. I loved the green tahini it came with. It had a decent amount of falafel and greens. I'll be back to try more menu items. The location is on the first floor of South Coast Plaza mall near Bloomingdale's. It gets crowded at lunch.

SPICY TUNA
Tiffany K.

Loveeee that a really healthy quick bite spot opened at south coast!!!! It's so different from most of the restaurants in the mall which are almost all Chinese or Italian. Don't get me wrong I love those spots too but pura vida has so many refreshing and delicious options. Service was amazing too- Miguel was great and very knowledgeable on the menu items so that was super helpful since it was my first visit. We ordered the spicy tuna bowl and the summer chicken bowl, both amazing and honestly huge portions. I also got a slice of their hugeeee banana bread and it was so moist and yummy!!! Also got a banana brew- their banana coffee and it was so unique and delicious. It honestly did not taste too much like coffee but it was super yummy and it was so thick and creamy because they blend in real bananas!!! Definitely will be back.

AVOCADO SMASH
Jasmine R.

We stumbled upon this place while on vacation in Miami and thought the coffee was amazing so we were super excited when we saw one coming to Orange County. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the coffee tasted as good as we remembered. The food is also good but not the best breakfast I've ever had. The other downside is being located in the mall dampers the vibe slightly. Overall though we'd go back because the coffee is that good.

WELCOME TO MIAMI (TikTok: @justandyvu)

1. The bowl was huge, and it had a good portion of tuna! The smoothie was refreshing! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes! The interior is very open! 3. The staff was friendly and timely with my order! It was ready within 10 mins! 4. There are only indoor seatings! There are a few tables as well as a counter! 5. There are free parking lots and structures nearby! Note: They will clean your table after you! Photo: Welcome to Miami and Spicy Tuna Bowl

When I heard that Pura Vida Miami was opening up at my fav South Coast plaza mall, I HAD to come and experience it for myself ~ to see if it lived up to its hype. Anddd..I'm impressed. Pura Vida in SCP is located on the first floor, in a corner lot, right outside of Bloomingdale. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but it gets pretty crowded, so you will need to keep an eye out & grab a table ~ the second it becomes available. I stopped by on a Friday afternoon, around noon ~ to meet up w/ my sissy and a friend for lunch. The line wasn't too bad to order and moved quite efficiently. While I expected more "wow" decor & aesthetics (esp. compared to their OG Miami location), this shop was bright, open and modernly decorated. Known for their health & wellness mission, they had a delicious & healthy looking menu selection. I opt'd to share the signature acai bowl and empanada trio (chicken, beef, and spinach & cheese ~ served w/ a spicy aioli and green tahini sauces) with my sister. My eyes were definitely more hungry than my tummy cuz I also caved and ordered the fresh banana nut loaf & walnut chocolate chip cookie too (both were vegan, not that it mattered to me)! The acai bowl was good & filling. I just wished it had a drizzle of agave/honey..which would have made it perfect. Heads up..the acai stained/turned our lips purple/red ~ which was unexpected. Lol The empanadas were pretty good, as well. The beef and spinach & cheese ones were my favorites. I was too full to try my sweets, but took them home instead and they were deelish. My sis and I were super excited to try the cortadito (coffee addicts, IYKYK..it's a yummy traditional Cuban coffee drink that consists of espresso mixed with a small amount of steamed milk and the milk is added to cut the intensity of the espresso) because we've been haunted with the mouth-watering one we first had (and got addicted to) during our visit to lil Havana, in Florida years ago. It was sooo good that we have been searching for one like it ever since. We both were a lil disappointed that the one at Pura Vida missed the mark for us. While it was strong, it lacked the perfect amount of sweetness that usually enhances the flavor. We had to ask for brown sugar to add ourselves, which took away a lil from the experience. Our friend ordered the pesto chicken sandwich which looked fresh and she quite enjoyed. All in all, Pura Vida is a good RxFoodie recommended ~ try at least once kinda place & cute location for a meet-up/lunchie with friends. While the quality is good, it's a lil on the pricey side for everyday indulgence.

At the Costa Mesa location, parking was a little tricky at first, but after circling we got lucky with a corner spot. The location itself is SO cute! It's right next to colorful barrel fountains, and on a sunny day it honestly felt like the perfect coffee outing. The line was pretty long and you are standing in direct sun, so just keep that in mind, but the service was quick and efficient once you order. Inside, it's small but really charming, with Sunny Angels hidden around and a very open, friendly vibe. My sister (who is basically a professional coffee drinker at this point ) got the matcha and said it was her favorite, which says a lot. I got the iced Spanish latte with oat milk, and it was SO good. Spanish lattes are my go-to, and this one had the perfect hint of cinnamon without being overly sweet. Even as the ice melted, it still tasted great, which is rare. The Torrance location was just as good! Parking was easier, the space is bigger, and the service was still super friendly and fast. My husband got the cold brew "Nook way" and finished it in like 10 minutes. He said it tasted like Golden Grahams cereal. Highly recommend both locations and especially the Spanish latte. The parking however, was VERY filled during this time. The line was huge for a 11:00am on a Friday morning. We were bummed that the QR code was not working on the very cute wooden signage outside the coffee shop while we were in line, which was a bummer. The Honey Oat Latte with oat milk was delicious. I am notorious for chugging my iced coffee but this was absolutely delicious. A sweet, subtle honey sweetness taste and the creamy oat milk was divine. My manager's Spanish Latte was so much better & I will be getting that next time! We bought our other coworker the Strawberry Matcha, which we did not try & we were worried after the fact because it did not look like it had strawberries in it, but she confirmed it was very tasty and tasted the strawberry! The outside seating areas in this outdoor area was very cute. Lots of fun art, the directory was creative, the CD tunnel was the coolest part! We also walked over to the breakfast burrito place as well. This seems like a nice area to come and relax and just people watch and enjoy a delicious iced latte from Nook.

There is limited parking but the lot was mostly empty when I visited at 8am on a weekday. I was greeted with a smile upon entry and I got in a line of about 8 people. The line would whittle down rather quickly but then would go right back up to about 8, back & forth, during the entire time I was there. Only 2 gals were working but they were like a machine, taking orders and cranking out drinks in a perfectly synchronized barista ballet. I ordered a large hot Spanish latte and chose a chocolate croissant from the pastry case. I declined having the pastry warmed as the chocolate gets melty and gooey-messy all over my hands. She informed me that the latte would have 4 shots of espresso unless I wished otherwise, but I was ready for a good case of coffee jitters. The interior is very small with 6 two-tops crammed together and a window counter with 5 or so chairs. I sat at a table. The latte was perfectly made, served at immediate drinking temperature, with a great quality coffee and a cinnamon flavor that was exactly the right strength. The croissant was fresh with plenty of chocolate inside. By the time I finished it, I looked like a three-year-old; my lips were smeared with chocolate. This was an excellent pastry. The drinks, however, tasted more milk than espresso forward. Not my personal preference but if you like your drinks on the milkier side this is probably better suited for your tastes. The flavor of the espresso was fine but I personally would have preferred to add a min additional shot or two for a more coffee forward taste, even with just the plain latte.

But if a business advertises that they close at 8:00 PM, customers reasonably expect to still be able to place an order before 8. Even a simple "we can only do a limited menu right now" would have felt more accommodating. What made the experience disappointing was not just being turned away, but the feeling that we were unwelcome despite technically arriving before closing time.
