When I am in town this is my go to place for a Sunday afternoon lunch because I love the pizza. After being at the bar for 15 minutes and no one asking me if I needed anything decided it was time to leave. The restaurant was not that crowded. read more

Ultimately the food was fine but we waited 45 minutes before checking on our order after seeing multiple people who came in after us receive their food. They first told us it was still being made and then let us know it was on rush. They did refund us and offer a drink from the bar but it was a frustrating experience especially with a very hungry 4 year old and myself, a very hungry and very pregnant person. We finally got our food about an hr after placing the order. Not sure if we'll give it another try, though I appreciate them trying to make it right with the refund which is the only reason I'm giving 3 stars. read more

I was born and raised in Italy and have spent the last 10 years unimpressed by American pizza, to the point where I never ate it unless I had to. Since this place opened, I've been back almost a dozen times, and gotten all my friends into it because it is AMAZING. This is exactly how Italian pizza tastes and the authenticity is incredible in both the ingredients and preparation. This is my new favorite restaurant and I will continue to recommend it to everyone I know! read more

What's not to love here in an authentic pizza place? salad, pizza and homemade gelato! so good. most importantly - the staff are awesome even without having table service - they hustle! clean! check on you and how you are liking or needing anything! great job! read more

Pathetic is the only word I can find to describe this place. Lots of staff but they seem to have no idea about what is going on. They have almost no gluten free options- certainly no gluten free pizza. (Even Dominoes has GF pizza) I ordered a caprese salad and they basically dumped a bunch of cherry tomatoes and a hunk of mozzarella. They drizzled it in olive oil but no balsamic vinegar or vinegar of any kind- and no seasoning- not even salt. They had the nerve to charge $13.50 for this unappetizing plate! Won't be coming back. read more

This is the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I arrived at 4:00 placed my order. I was told I would have to drink the beer I ordered OUTSIDE while I waited for my pizza. It was 45 degrees and windy. No one informed me at anytime that you have to wait outside. I would not have placed an order if I new this. When I brought this to the attention of the manager Vince, he responded with a complete attitude of indifference. I finally got my pizza at 4:39 without ANY attempt by Vince to make this right for a customer. You have lost a customer forever! read more

We really like their pizza! Yes, smaller pizzas more pricey than the Pizza Hut they replaced, but the quality is great. Honestly does remind me of the pizza in Italy. I especially like their white pizzas. Quick service, staff are friendly, good menu options. We definitely recommend! read more

This is a wonderful pizza place. Great dough to sauce ratio. You can tell they are using fresh ingredients.

This is authentic Neapolitan pizza! Everything that we ordered for our large group was delicious and we even liked the homemade cocktails sampler for limoncello and amaretto. read more

The service is really really bad, but the pizza is good. Don't expect to get water or any items until your piazza is ready. Just a bunch of kids standing around playing on their phones. read more

Can I give no stars? It's cold. It's soggy. Not cooked as ordered....we specified well done. What a rip off!

Always slow service, never on time. Expensive. Nearby Cafesano has better Neapolitan pizza for less money and better service

I'll give three stars because I've had such a great experience every time I've ordered from Pupatella until tonight. I was so excited to order the Pig and Fig pizza now that it's back on the menu. I was surprised and very disappointed to find after I arrived home that the pizza was missing its pig (no prosciutto on it at all). I'll likely order from here again as the pizza is excellent, but hopefully quality control will improve a bit. read more

Great pizzeria! Authentic Italiano food with superb customer service. Great menu selection and reasonable prices (considering it's in Reston and I'm sure their rent is out of control. High) read more

Pupatella is awesome! Odered a salami panino to go and while waiting spoke with the bartender about what the bar offerings were and ended up ordering a lemon drop he made with all fresh citrus and lemoncello. It was excellent. Best mixed drink I've had at a bar - I'd say ... there were even some vitamins in that there drink. From the citrus. Also noticed they had mint chocolate chip gelato so got some of that to go. The sandwich was great and so was the gelato. The staff were all professional, knowledgeable and courteous. read more

Meh pizza. Undercooked dough and lathered in tomato sauce. Not real Neapolitan. Service extremely unattentive and not welcoming at all. Needs work! read more

We got two pizzas. Both were soggy, doughy, and tasted too salty. It was disgusting. If I could give zero stars I would. Definitely not worth the price. read more

Great pizza but terrible customer service. Have always waited 20+ minutes for my order without so much as an apology. Honestly, when you're this starving the McDonald's or Taco Bell next door would do better to hit the spot. Hope it gets better! Train your staff in customer service & manners and give more accurate wait times. Will NOT be going back unless this changes. read more

$15 for a small meatball pizza. Taste was ok nothing great. Frozen Digornio pizza would have been better taste and value. Mozzarella balls were good but nothing exceptional. Ordered carry out and it was ready on time. No need to try again read more

Eh....Pizza is ok. I don't think the wait and the price was worth it. Undercarriage wasn't good and most of the cheese came off. The sauce didn't have much flavor but the mozzarella was good. I would compare it to Cafesano. read more

I've been waiting for this place to open for a long time. Some years ago, I actually drove out to Arlington just for pizza from here a few times! This place has THAT much hype! So I was thrilled Pupatella was coming to Reston and its been a long wait for them to open and longer still to navigate their limited hours. I attempted to order maybe 4 times and was unlucky enough to pick times they are closed- once when they ran out of pizzas, once during the late afternoon hour they close their kitchen and later in the evening and during soft launch they were open but then closed again for the remainder of the week! Finally got a chance to try it the other day! . Reasons its not 5 star to me (yet): the size of the pizzas- one is not really enough to feed two but still at a higher price point. The dough- I quite like doughy style crust like this but it is a little thin and floppy. I didn't care for it being burnt in some areas, (that did not seem intentional but who knows?) Its very good and authentic pizza (its got other pizza places around here totally beat!) So I will go back again and I will recommend it to others to try too. I made a mental note they do have an outdoor seating area with some heaters- may be helpful for others to know. read more

It's good but not great pizza and portions are small and quite pricey. We ordered three and they came staggered. The first two were "meh" and the third was better. I could go on and on about how bad the service was. Overall, definitely not worth the $. read more

Execrable pizza. Arrived cold and soggy. I ordered the Capricciosa, and after trying a few bites (once I rewarmed it) I had to wonder if I'd received the wrong pizza. No flavor except mushrooms. Now, I like mushrooms just fine, but this was supposed to have artichokes and prosciutto (or ham? unclear from the menu description) as well, and those usually have assertive flavors as well. I had to inspect it visually to find any artichokes at all; found one piece, pulled it off and popped it in my mouth -- no flavor, no texture, like it had been soaking in water for days. Couldn't find any meat at all. This was probably the worst pizza I've ever had in a long lifetime of eating pizzas of all kinds. I certainly won't be eating one of Pupatella's again! read more

The pizza here is outstanding. I only give it three stars in the hopes the restaurant management will see this and update their online ordering system! It isnt possible to place an order online because there is a glitch that makes it impossible to order, regardless of the time you select. We have tried over multiple phones and web browsers, and still it does not work. They dont take orders over the phone either. Its a 35 minute wait dor a pizza, even for carry out. It just isnt worth the wait for a pizza when I cant even get a head start on my way there. Please, get a new ordering system that works! read more

Was not thrilled at all. The pizza crust was completely soggy with the exception of the outer crust. You can't get anyones attention and they flat out ignore you. And once you get their attention, they don't complete what you just asked before moving on to something else. One and done! read more

We tried the Nonna meatballs, prosciutto argula pizza, and the Margherita pizza. The meatballs and the Margherita pizza were really good. I've never tried prosciutto argula pizza before but I'm not a fan of the flavors. I would definitely come again for the Margherita and a different pizza. read more

Placed an order online for in-store pickup. There were plenty of staff members working behind the counters but no host(esses) to assist customers. When two did arrive, they were unwelcoming and rude. While the pizza did taste good, it was unacceptably soggy. Our first experience left us disappointed in both the customer service and quality control. We will likely not return until the reviews show that they've fixed the problems with how soggy, greasy, and chewy their pizzas are when carried out. read more

Everytime I'm in here on the weekends the staff gives me huge attitude about when I order. I know they close to clean their ovens at 3:30 so I made sure to get there at 2:45. I got there at that time last Sunday and a staff member said no one can order any later than that exact time, no exceptions. He was rude about it, I felt so unwelcomed I left and ate in RTC. I won't be returning to this location. It's ashamed because Arlington does such a good job. Needs better quality control here. read more

We were really looking forward to trying this location since my wife raved about the pizza from the Arlington location years ago. That said, this pizza was very disappointing. This started as a 1-star review but the manager, Vince was cool and refunded my order for the two pies i ordered, Diavola and DOC. Both pies were missing toppings which i can understand since the place is still new but how do you forget the basil on DOC?! Adding insult to injury, the basil on the Diavola was horrible. It was buried under the cheese and was all cooked out, dark brown, and tasteless. You don't put Basil under the toppings and you don't typically put it on before it goes in the oven because you lose all the basil flavor. Vince explained that's how Pupatella does it. Ok, fine but the pies themselves are also not cooked properly. The crust was over cooked on the bottom and the edges and raw on top. A Neapolitan pizza slice should have a nice bend but should still be cooked! last thing, and this may just be a personal taste but the red sauce was so salty, it made my tongue numb half way through the pie. One taste of the sauce and you can tell it's just not right. We will give it another shot at some point - it's still better than the Pizza Hut they replaced :) read more

Very solid pizza!! The dough and crust is among the best we've had around, having the right charring and light puffy texture. The toppings and ingredients are fresh and of quality. It was a great experience overall. read more

Having been to Arlington locations personally think this is one of the best pizzas in the DMV. The Reston location had long wait times for pickup starting out but since they have really improved. They also now have some indoor seating available for dine in. read more

Hands-down the best pizza I've had in this area in years. A little pricy for the casual setting, but we'll be going back.

Finally good pizza in Reston. Best pizza we've tried over the years in this area. All the ingredients tasted fresh and our kids loved it too. read more

I love Neapolitan pizza and Pupatella gets it right. The crust on the edge is crispy and a bit charred, while the center is soft. For those complaining about the soft center, that's the way they make in Naples. The dough is tasty and not the bland cardboard like crust you get in the delivery pizzas. We ordered DOC pizzas which authentic Neapolitan pizzas with different toppings, including pepperoni and sausage. There were a lot of toppings and they were tasty and spicy. I ordered online for takeout, got a pickup time. When I arrived they weren't quite ready and gave me a big number to put in my car window facing the restaurant. They delivered the pizzas to the car in a few minutes. We all loved the pizzas and plan to go back for more. read more

The meatballs are Ridiculously good. I could eat them every day. I also love their regular cheese pizza. They are the best around in my opinion. I'll be back soon. read more

Best pizza in Reston! Order early. They are new and in high demand so if you place an order for a future time early, you should not have issue. Love the crust. read more

Amazingly yummy pizza! Best we have had in a long time. Huge outdoor patio and portions are big.

Easily the worst restaurant in Reston. We thought we would give it a try on a nice summer night. From the first moment it was terrible. No one was managing the seating inside or out. The place inside has some seating but is poorly laid out and you may be forced to sit next to the kitchen, order desk and the influx of folks picking up their to-go orders. So noise and constant commotion is what you will have to deal with. The restaurant seems to cater to the to-go orders so the in dinning experience is terrible. There were many employees there but were not organized to service anyone. When you get there, you are required to order at the register inside where you are asked to include a tip. If I had known what our experience would be I would not have left a 20% tip. It used to be the tip was provided after your dinning experience. What's the deal? We then had to wait in the noise and commotion of a restaurant that appeared completely unmanaged and a free for all that was mainly catering to out-going orders. Our meal was not delivered for an hour and 20 min from when we ordered it. When I complained, the manager said they were running 45 to 50 minutes behind. We were never told that when ordering and no one ever came by to tell us anything about our food. No communication with the customers. When I asked the manager for my money back he didn't respond. We also heard other people asking for their money back. When the food was finally delivered it was just placed on the table. No comment. The pizza was incredible underwhelming. Some of the pizzas were soaking and drooping. The crust was also burnt. The others were dry and basically tasteless. For four pizzas, four drinks and one appetizer, with tip, we paid $83 for a lousy experience. Do not waste your money or time at this restaurant. There are much better restaurants in Reston like Mod Pizza and others. read more

The service here is so slow, they have numbers to give you to put on your car when you come to pick up your food at the scheduled time. I've picked up food here on two occasions and both times had to wait in my car for over 30 minutes beyond the pickup time. read more

I was excited to try this pizza. On Saturday there was 2 hour pick up wait so I postponed ordering until Sunday. On Sunday the time frame was 60 mins. I ordered a meatball pizza. It was soggy, under cooked and tasteless. This is neither worth the money nor the wait. Neapolitan is name only. read more
