Pizza was great. Service was meh. The place was busy with curbside and take-out. Gelato was not a hit for me. I got to taste 4 different pizzas since there were 6 of us and we all ordered something different. I did the meat pizza with white sauce instead of red and it was a hit with everyone. The 2 pizza we ordered for takeout with mint gelato as dessert was superb, excellent & awesome (I give 5 stars for good tasting food) I ordered the custom pizzas ( tomato sauce, Gruyere, Nonna's meatballs, sautéed onions, Roasted red peppers... It was yummy I recommend making your own pizza... Service was the reason I left a star out as well as the food was quite pricey $$$ I did curbside... I called & a gentleman came out fairly quickly after the call... but didn't have all that I ordered Started to walk away and had to stop him and tell him that not all of my order is not here.. he left with a quick nod of his head went back into the restaurant... saw him come back out but not back to me but instead started helping other customers I Waited a little bit long hoping he would remember me but didn't... so I called back and ask if they remembered to bring out the rest of my order... Updating my review and I'm basing this strictly on the quality of the pies. I'm going to cite two of my regular spots - Italian Store and Crust Pizzeria in Herndon. Both are bar none, top of their craft. In my opinion, the quality of the pies still don't live up to the standards of a true Neapolitan pizza. I appreciate the opportunity to return, but I don't see myself coming back ever. read more

The difference in service and competency between this location and the original Arlington location is incredible. I counted 14 employees, "working" which is a generous statement given that we waited nearly 40 minutes for three pies. Instead of worrying about masks, worry about service. Meatballs literally tastes like we're out of a can. They were served cold too. Our salad had anchovies in it despite it not saying so in the menu. The anchovies were so fishy it was gross. The pizza was also only cut into four slices. Toppings literally slid off the pizza because there was too much sauce and it wasn't cooked enough. Seats and tables were also not wiped down. Absolutely fabulous and bulletproof. This was our 4th order from Pupatella Reston. We ordered the Chorizo, Eggplant & Red Pepper (added pepperoni), Buffala Bianca and a make your our pizza (pesto, italian sausage, spinach). Generous and very high quality toppings. Great that you can switch to buffalo mozzarella, which is rare. Pizzas are always well made and cooked (not under or over-cooked). Staff is great and friendly and pull-up/curbside pick-up works great. Best of all, they are consistently great. We are pizza nuts. We make dough from scratch and have our own wood-fired pizza oven. Pupatella is a great substitute when we don't fire up the oven. Highly recommended. A great addition to Reston restaurants! read more

Do me a favor and do a quick scroll down the 3 star or less reviews. Almost every single one is from someone who is like "I prefer thicker pizza" or "I didn't expect it to be so floppy!" Like, someone literally posted in their review that they had to search what Neapolitan-style pizza was and gave it less stars because they didn't expect that lol. Surprise to them! It's not a New York slice or deep dish. And for what it's supposed to be, it's perfect. I've gone to the Wilson Blvd location and now this one and I've never been disappointed. So fresh and delicious and light. I also really appreciate that they have BEEF pepperoni, a rarity at almost every pizza place in the area. Some tips: add arugula onto everything and try the EGGPLANT as a topping. We found our fave topping combo was eggplant, roasted garlic, and roasted tomatoes. Very good pizza, not as good as the Neapolitan pizzas at Crust in Vienna, but pretty good. Eat it at the restaurant right out of the oven, inside or outside in nice weather. If you need to take it home, we recommend reheating, as instructed on the carryout box. Frightening experience at this location yesterday. After waiting 20+ minutes for drink refill, entered restaurant from outside seating. Stepped just inside entry, no mask. Two employees gasped as if they had seen the devil. (There were at least 12 people inside without masks.) Manager rushed over, told me to leave. Then he brought the refill--with a warning. "Do not enter my restaurant without a mask." I was barely inside, more than six feet away from other people. Told manager I was tired of waiting for service. His reply: "Next time you will have to wait longer." Odd that someone in the hospitality business would act this way. Ordered a Diavola pizza for takeout tonight and it was absolutely delicious. The BEST pizza I've had in a long time! Loved the chewy crust.

I was told of their pizza and that it was amazing, and something right out of Italy. Having lived in Italy for several years, I wanted to try it out. Ordered online on a Friday night. Must have been busy because the online order, placed at 6:35 told us pickup time was 8:05 PM. We weren't in a rush, so we placed the order. Arrived at 8:03, and we were told "Take this number and put it in the windshield". This wasn't a good sign. I went outside and saw 20 other cars parked with numbers in their windows. We sat and watched runners coming out with orders, taking forever, and going from car to car looking for the right number. There was no system or process they were following. At 8:25 I went inside and asked "where's the order, and what's the point of giving a time if you aren't going to have the order ready?" It was mass chaos with people running around, and the response was "we are doing the best we can". At 8:40, a girl came up to our car with the two pizzas and some appetizers and asked "James?". I said no, and said Bob. She said "Oh, sorry - this is yours, I was thinking of my boyfriend". The pizza was good, appetizers were good, but I drove 20 minutes to get there, waited another 35 minutes past the order time to get my order, and by the time we got home, had to heat it up again. 75 minutes round-trip is not worth it for a pizza that wasn't spectacular. We determined that because of the chaos and because of their inability to live up to their commitments, we are done, and will go with our local pizza shops that are just as good. read more

Pizza was good, once you get it. The two tables on either side of ours ordered 20-25 min after us and got their food 15 min before us. Almost a 50 minute wait for us. The Arancini with eggplant was good but dry and needed some kind of sauce, which cost an extra &1.06 for a small container. I had the worst customer experience at a restaurant in my life! The sad thing is that I was a regular customer. It all begin innocently enough with the staff monopolizing the restrooms. We waited for over 15 minutes and finally knocked on the door of one of two bathroom only to find that staff were hanging out in the restrooms. Without question the best pizza in NoVA. The crust and sauce are perfectly balanced. The beef pepperoni is fantastic and something one doesn't normally find on a pizza menu. Went in with family for dinner on Sunday night and it was incredible! Rosie our server was there for everything we needed and The manager stopped by often he said his name was Steve, very helpful and friendly he was everywhere doing everything helping his staff out, and still had time to stop by and say hello to us. Rosie told us he is the best here and the employees love when he is working. Omg my friend recommended I give pupatella a try and I was not disappointed!!!! I've tried 3 different pizzas from here and can tell you they're an amazing restaurant chain. The pizza is so authentic and refreshing. The only downside to pupatella is it can get SO busy that you have to make sure you order and reserve a time a couple hours before. The first time we tried them, we tried to order at 6 pm and they had nothing available till 8:30 pm. I showed up around 8:15 but the pizza wasn't done till exactly 8:30. So make sure you order way before. None the less would definitely recommend this place! read more

Ultimately the food was fine but we waited 45 minutes before checking on our order after seeing multiple people who came in after us receive their food. They first told us it was still being made and then let us know it was on rush. They did refund us and offer a drink from the bar but it was a frustrating experience especially with a very hungry 4 year old and myself, a very hungry and very pregnant person. We finally got our food about an hr after placing the order. Pathetic is the only word I can find to describe this place. Lots of staff but they seem to have no idea about what is going on. They have almost no gluten free options- certainly no gluten free pizza. (Even Dominoes has GF pizza) I ordered a caprese salad and they basically dumped a bunch of cherry tomatoes and a hunk of mozzarella. They drizzled it in olive oil but no balsamic vinegar or vinegar of any kind- and no seasoning- not even salt. They had the nerve to charge $13.50 for this unappetizing plate! It was an awesome, fun and safe experience. Great variety of pizza (My 2 friends and I ordered 4 different types). My favorite is the Smoked Salmon. The service is excellent, and the staff is doing a good job of ensuring COVID guidelines are adhered to. I was born and raised in Italy and have spent the last 10 years unimpressed by American pizza, to the point where I never ate it unless I had to. Since this place opened, I've been back almost a dozen times, and gotten all my friends into it because it is AMAZING. This is exactly how Italian pizza tastes and the authenticity is incredible in both the ingredients and preparation. This is the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I arrived at 4:00 placed my order. I was told I would have to drink the beer I ordered OUTSIDE while I waited for my pizza. It was 45 degrees and windy. No one informed me at anytime that you have to wait outside. I would not have placed an order if I new this. When I brought this to the attention of the manager Vince, he responded with a complete attitude of indifference. I'll give three stars because I've had such a great experience every time I've ordered from Pupatella until tonight. I was so excited to order the Pig and Fig pizza now that it's back on the menu. I was surprised and very disappointed to find after I arrived home that the pizza was missing its pig (no prosciutto on it at all).
