There were 6 of us, 4 had French dip sandwich, i had the shrimp/lobster rosado, and it was very good, lots of shrimp in it. I took my son and his beautiful girlfriend to Pullman's to celebrate her becoming a nurse. Because of the ambience and location, I thought I would be spending a whole lot of money. I was happily wrong. The menu is diverse, giving options, regardless of what you're hungry for. My lovely wife enjoyed a salad. I had the French dip. My son enjoyed some type of spicy chicken dish. The young lady whose achievement we were celebrating enjoyed an amazing looking chicken sandwich. To call it a chicken sandwich doesn't do it justice. It was a thing of beauty. I had my wife's graduation party here after she received her PHD. Pullman's did a great job of accommodating 37 of us for the event. I had never been there before and neither had most of my attendees. I was impressed with how the establishment looked inside, beautifully decorated! Being right on the water was a plus as well. The manager met me and showed me where our three tables would be. She did a great job of explaining everything and was very helpful. Unfortunately I forgot her name but she was key to setting this up. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. They really made everyone feel at home. As far as the food goes, excellent! There wasn't one complaint. Everything was served hot and seasoned just right. I really enjoyed the Ahi tuna , yum . Several people mentioned how much they liked it there and that they wanted to come back for drinks sometime. Well done Pullman's. My wife picked the perfect spot for the celebration. WHEELCHAIR PERSPECTIVE: Outside on the cement ramp there was a big lip that made it difficult to get the wheels over. Took many attempts. Very frustrating. Almost considered leaving. Once inside it was okay. SERVICE PERSPECTIVE: Were seated outside on the patio. The chairs all have arms on the sides and are on the smaller side. Mesh iron chairs. My sons are very tall and big and barely fit in them. Squished. Asked our server if there were armless chairs. She went to get them, but she told us the manager said "NO" Chairs from inside were not allowed outside. Waitress was friendly. FOOD: Overpriced burgers. Nothing special. ATMOSPHERE: Historic. Location was tremendous (restaurant sits right next to a river), setting was comfortable (booths, tables, and lots of large windows), service was generally genial and attentive, and the prices were reasonable. But the meal itself was problematic. Our appetizer, the Spinach Artichoke Dip, was poorly prepared and basically inedible: They used way too much mayonnaise! And it wasn't successfully incorporated into the dip, so when you used your chips to scoop out a portion, you had to work your way around the gobs of mayonnaise. The dish was also only lightly seasoned and the parmesan cheese wasn't fully melted. To the restaurant's credit, the dip's portion seemed extra-large. But that was offset by the taste. (It was a twist on the old joke from that movie: Diner #1: 'Boy, the food at this place is really terrible.' Diner #2: 'Yeah, I know; and such small portions.') I raised this politely at the time with our server. He said he would share my comment with the kitchen. What I expected to happen next, though, never occurred: 1-No one from the kitchen came out to our table to discuss; 2-No manager came to our table to offer an apology; 3-We were not offered a new replacement appetizer; 4-Our waiter did not remove the appetizer from our bill. My entree (Shrimp Scampi Pasta) was generally bland, partially maybe because the Parmesan cheese seemed to be unmelted and I could barely taste the garlic butter sauce. Yes, we'll probably return, because the location and view were amazing! But we'll be more judicious about our dining selections. read more

I would give a zero if I could First things 1st I come here all the time but not at this time of day. So if I were you DO NOT COME HERE BEFORE 5pm. They didn't give us rolls until after we asked then we got one each LITERALLY. I asked for a strawberry mojito with "Bacardi" not Bacardi lemon or lime I can tell the difference flavor liquor give me a headache. I drunk the 1st drink not knowing the 2nd one comes it taste different I go to the bar asked if they used Bacardi he's like yeah and proceeds to pour it with lime ‍ as if I didn't want it JUST PLAIN how hard is that to understand. Then I get the salmon like I always do well done I tell the waitress this twice cause I'm like it's a different time of day and sometimes people just don't understand. They bring it out pink as hell I got loaded mash on the side she's going to say would I like to keep it no cause by the time you bring a new salmon out it a be cold. Only they never brought a new one out they brought the exact same one out still pink as hell not sure what they did. THEY LOST customers I mean regulars today didn't even try to make the situation better. Last time they messed up this bad we got free cheesecake that was so good I gave them a few more chances. Had a great lunch at Pullman's. Ate outside, along the beautiful Fox River. Food was very good. I had the Fish and Chips and I thought is was one of the better Fish/Chips I have had. 2 big battered pieces of Cod along with perfectly seasoned fries. Will most defiantly be back for this meal! Unfortunately, we did experience some issues that might be hard to control. I don't know if it's the time of year, or if this is a spring/summer long issue, but the bugs were really annoying. They weren't the biting type, just the ones that crawl up your pants leg or walk around your arm or down your shirt! I guess this could easily be fixed by eating inside! The Bar and Dinning areas are pretty cool and interestingly decorated. Lots of TV's to watch the game. Our other issue was a tough one. I'm pretty sure we got a brand new waiter. He was very awkward and his inexperience was evident. I completely understand that help is tough to find, so I hope that he will be further trained and improves. I'm sure he made some mistakes in our order because it actually took us an hour and 40mins from start to finish to eat and pay for our lunch. We weren't in a big hurry, but guests were seated well after us, they ate, paid their bill and were gone before us. Part of the hold up was that for some reason he (the waiter) split our bills, then somehow lost a copy of our receipt. Too bad... the food was definitely a five star! read more

I used to come to Pullmans for homecoming dinner in high school. Huge place with lots of room for large parties. Our server, Kyle, was great! My friend is gluten free and he brought her a separate little basket of gluten free toast, so thoughtful. We both got the salmon, delicious! I got the Thai ginger glaze (sort of a teriyaki base, very good) and my friend got the dill - both good but I'd recommend the Thai. I'd get cheese curds next time, they looked great. read more

I was here with a group of 8 on a Friday night. Since we were having a special family dinner, we had called ahead to make reservations, and they put us in a private room off to the side (not sure if that was asked for, or just given, but either way a nice touch). We had a server who was also attending to the bar/room outside our private room, so her service was a little slow, but she was very friendly and accommodating with our couple of special requests. We ordered calamari, cheese curds, and the combo platter for appetizers, and everything was good (the cheese curds were nice and soft how I like them). I had the pecan chicken wrap for my dinner, with sweet potato fries, and that was kind of a letdown. The chicken in the wrap was dry, and although it had a sauce it wasn't evenly distributed through so it didn't help (I'd get one bite of just dry chicken and the next bite would be just sauce). The sweet potato fries had good flavor, but were overcooked. I did enjoy the flavor of the garden tortilla used on my wrap, though. Since there was a (small) bar outside our room, people started gathering there and it got kind of loud, even with the doors to our room shut (they were also glass doors so we could see out/others could see in). The room was also pretty cold. Prices were very reasonable, though, and since they were able to give us a private room and help with our requests, I'll give them them benefit of the doubt and do 4 stars. read more

Stopped in here for dinner while traveling for business. The decor is adorable! The staff was nice. Prices seemed reasonable but it seemed like way too much food! Had dinner there today. Normally Pullmans is one of our preferred restaurants for tasty quality food. Ordered the Friday perch dinner special and the Grilled Salmon dinner for my wife. She stated the Salmon was good but smothered in dill sauce. Knowing that, she would have ordered sauce on the side. The perch seemed over breaded and deep fried to a dark redish brown, instead of light golden brown. It was crunchy and I would say over done. If that is their normal method, I won't order it again, which I wont anyway. A side note, being Friday I was looking forward to having clam chowder soup. Not on the menu. Disappointed. read more

We went to Pullmans for the first time on 12/28/19. We stopped here before we went to the comedy club which was right across the street. We went for dinner around 5:30 PM so it wasn't too busy since it was a little earlier in the evening. There were six of us total in our group. We got seated right away. The The server was friendly and attentive. My husband and I had the chicken Cordon Bleu and the salmon with lobster sauce. We were very happy with our dinner selections. They were tasty and well prepared. The rest of the people in our group were happy with their dinners as well. We would definitely go back to Pullmans! read more

Over-priced, Bennigans-quality food. The surf and turf (8oz filet, 4 fried shrimp with a side) was $30. The filet was the lowest quality they could get away with and there wasn't anything special about the shrimp or side (not great but not bad either). The kicker was when I ordered a parmesan crusted topping for the steak, and got lied to about it by the server when asking why there was no topping. "It's infused in the meat". How do you "infuse" something when it's supposed to be a topping? Won't go back. If you want better food for similar prices just go to Apollon or Rye up the street. read more

I absolutely love to go to Pullman's in the summer time. Their outside patio is second to none with a huge man made waterfall, 5-6 gas fireplaces for your private use with padded lounge chairs, and drinks/appetizers available with wait...all located on the edge of the Fox river down in the locks of Appleton. I'm a bit of a regular and love their Southwest chicken wrap or pizza. Others rave about their Lobster bisque soup. There is live music on Tuesday evenings in the summer as well. Many use this venue for wedding receptions or large parties. Outside dining available at patio tables with full menu offered. read more

One of the best tenderloins I've ever had, bacon wrapped with blu cheese so yummy! The black cherry old fashioned was delicious as well! Food and atmosphere on the river side was a definite 5/5! The only upsetting part was the fact we were going for another round of drinks and were going to get dessert as well. We were given our checks immediately after our plates were cleared without a second thought. Sort of disappointing considering Cheesecake Factory cheesecake would have been an outstanding top to our fantastic meal.. good thing Culver's custard also hit the spot! Considering it was the waitress and not the restaurant that ruined the fabulous experience, I fully recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great night out with an outstanding meal! It must have been an off night or perhaps an unhappy waitress serving us. My wife and I went here for dinner on Friday,6/2,23, evening. Waited patiently at the bar with couple drinks. It wasn't a long wait as we didn't even finish our cocktail drinks. We got our table and put in our dinner order right away. 30 mins went by and haven't seen the waitress back or no food. 10 mins later (40 mins after we put in our order) the waitress came out and let us know that they ran out of perch (I ordered the lake perch) and if I would like to order another dish, I put in another dish thinking that it would just be another 10 mins before my order would be ready. We waited another 30 mins and no food. So after over 1 hr of waiting and very inattentive waitress, we decided to leave. I would have stayed if the waitress would have asked if we wanted to order any drinks while we waited. She only stopped by our table twice. I've been to this restaurant several times before and this is the worst service I've had! Will not be back. read more

I hate to do this. I wasn't even going to post about this until I talked to the manager and was so upset with how they handled the situation. We went there for dinner and the experience was over all good. But a few hours later I became horribly sick with food poisoning. (I knew it was from dinner because I hadn't eaten anything else that day and didn't feel well after leaving the restaurant). I was miserably sick for the better part of 24 hours and another 24 to recover from what my body had been through. Out of concern of anyone else getting sick I called and talked to a manager. When I told her I had gotten sick she didn't even care. There was no apology. Her response was "...well we make those things fresh every day so I don't know what to tell you". Met here with 4 generations of my family. Unfortunately, the rain forced us to dine inside as the river view is wonderful. I had the Pullman's Fillet with the Appleton Brewing Company's Hefeweizen. The beer is excellent, and worth a trip to the Fox Cities. The mushroom risotto was perfectly prepared and served. The broccoli cook to perfection with just enough "crunch". My steak was almost everything I enjoy in a tenderloin. Unfortunately, somewhere between the tenderloin itself, and the bacon & bleu cheese sauce, too much salt was added. In my opinion it's indisputable that the food here is great-- well worth the price in amount and quality. However, the service was not what I expected. We had a family dinner here with a party of 8, and we were seated within a few minutes when our host went out of his way to create an area for us. We all ordered our drinks, got some appetizers for the table, and everything was great up until the point that we ordered our entrees. Six of us got their entrees while two of us (myself included) were told there was a slight delay and ours would be out shortly. About fifteen minutes later, we got our food. I had the lobster ravioli which was to die for, and another woman in our party ordered fish with some sort of glaze. The ingredients weren't fully listed on the menu and it wasn't what she was expecting, so she apologetically sent it back and asked for fish without the glaze. Our server said this happened often with that particular dish and she was happy to oblige. Thirty minutes later, we had all finished our food while the last person was still waiting for the return of her dish. When we asked the server what was going on she looked surprised and ran off to the kitchen. One of the cooks came out shortly after to apologize and gave her a gift card to the restaurant. She never got her food. When the check came, the fish dish was still on it. We were a bit confused because we figured the gift card had been an apology thing, not a complicated way of paying for a dish we never received. When we sent the check back and asked about it, I decided to step out for a cigarette and overheard our server talking to a man who appeared to be the manager. All I heard was "Seriously? That table again?" Before he saw me and stopped talking and promptly walked inside. I get that the food industry is a pain, I've been there on both the server side and the management side but to be made fun of for expecting to not have to pay for a dish that was never eaten, let alone delivered to our table, is a bit rude and outlandish. This restaurant has been the spot for many family get togethers in the past but I don't think that tradition will continue. Maybe I'll try again sometime in the future but not anytime soon. read more
